Great bit of kit I've been using one for about 4 months or more. I love using it as a fly for my freesoldger hammock. It's just big enough and being so light it has made my hammock system so light now.
Hello Neil, as always a great review. The poncho is quite Diddy, just large enough to get the job done, certainly a better idea having sewn loops vs eyelets. Liked the selection of shelters you displayed giving a good view of what is possible. Merry Christmas to all at Green craft towers!
Thanks a lot for testing and the review. You made a good review i use the Dutch poncho's as well, i will look into buying one of these as it sure is small and light! Have a good Christmas and all the best for you and yours for the new year coming
Nice one Neil! I’m looking for a compact light shelter to fit in my Helikon essential kit bag- “emergency/get home/edc bag” This has made it onto the shortlist. Looks certainly spacious enough for one person. We consider what we carry as we get older because we are wiser… hopefully 😜 Bushcraft for beginners sounds great! Encouraging for newbies. Cheers mate 👍🏻
Just use big black heavy duty garbage bags, and tape up holes with gorilla tape. Cardboard is free also. How much do we really need? Pile up forest floor litter/leaves as insulation.
Thanks for the review Neil but here are my thoughts : Yes, the weight will be less, but sil nylon will offer much less resistance to thorns and campfires and is noisier than a Dutch or US army poncho. The white logo on the sil nylon doesn't help with stealth camping and 40-45£ (50-56 $/48-54 €) isn't for everyone these days. I'll stick with my old trusted army poncho. ATB!
This looks just the job for me! What size did you get? Bit worried about it trailing on the ground but looks wide enough to do the job for me🙂 My current sea to summit one is just not wide enough. Belt looks good too. How did they get it so light??
I could certainly have made good use of this when I walked the Camino de Santiago earlier this year. Having a waterproof that was both light and effective , and covered my rucksack would have been a god send. I shall be looking to acquire one of these.
I used a Miltec Ripstop poncho on my Camino this February-March. Indispensable, I used it every day as a groundsheet, for three snowy/rainy days as a poncho and twice as a bivy bag when I slept out. It started to delaminate about halfway through so I looked on YT for a more robust, yet reasonably-priced replacement. Consequently, I now have a Dutch Army Poncho which is the business!

I think I will stay with my u s military poncho. Stronger and it fits my woobie for a sleep system. Also works great as a shelter. U.S.$44.99.
Merry Christmas 🌲🌟
We just ordered two of these. I hope they are as good as they are shown here. Thanks for the tip on them.
Merry Christmas!!!

We would slide off the roof of the house in the winter using plastic contractor bags. Didnt keep us warm but it kept us dry in the snow.

Brilliant. Thank you. Just what I am looking for.
May I trouble you to say where you get your green smock from?

Looks like a bin bag and about as durable as one

Just a very quick question, do you think taking a Sharpie to the white branding would damage the poncho?
