I'm so happy I found this video! I just ordered these exact covers from Amazon. They have the exact same hardware. Mine didn't come with any directions . I was going to return them but now I feel confident to install them. Thanks so much for another great video!
Great video and left me with one question. When you lifted the front right tire, it was clearly off the ground. Did the one jack point also lift the back rear just enough to pull the tire off? Also, when you pulled the Gemini wheel covers off, were any scratches left on the metal rim? Thanks!
I have 2 jacks. However, you can lift both up in the air from one jack. I would feel comfortable doing this with my large jack but not my smaller jack. As for scratches on the wheels, no. The plastic doesn't seem to hurt the rims. If you are concerned, you can put some foam tape on the rims at the connection points.
I'm debating between caliper covers or painting. One thing that concerns me, makes me wonder is, would the fasteners come loose over time. Thanks for the video.
I’ve had two sets of caliper covers since I’ve received my car last year June. The same design and setup as in the video. The first set; one of the calipers came out loose while the expressway. No damage was done. Small yellow marks in the interior portion of the rim that was easily wiped off. Not sure what the cause was but I assume that the screws had loosened. Only had them for about 2 months. Second set were red caliper covers from a different company but same exact design and setup. This time around, every time I rotate my tires (I do them myself) I check the screws. Honestly they do loosen very little, so tighten all during tire rotation. So far I’ve had these for about 10 months.
Look great. I don't have a jack like you do so not sure I'm ready to take the wheels off my 2 week old Tesla. But I really like the look of your car. Mine is White but still think the red calipers would give it some extra pop. Still deciding on the wheel covers. I like what you have but looks like the left side vs right side rotate in opposite directions. No one would probably notice if that is true.
Installed mine a few weeks ago, and time will tell if the fasteners will loosen over time. The attachment over the existing calipers was ok, I actually didnt think it would work and the "how-to" youtube vids dont clearly show the precise detail on how they are fastened. No instructions or pictures to aid either. It took me an extra hour just to figure it out and I'm fairly handy. Actual cover seems to be good quality. One of my fasteners was defective resulting in not being able to install 1 out of 4 of the calipers. Customer service was quick to respond but follow up shipping to get just a new fastener is incredibly slow. 2 weeks later and still no arrival date "pending status." Rolling around with 3 calipers is not the look im going for. Also package came with no sticker.
Update: Seller finally came through with a new fastener and the stickers. My 4th caliper now installed almost a month after receiving the initial parts. Because I didnt have the stickers initially I had to take all the wheels off to apply them, and this presented an opportunity to inspect how the existing fasteners were holding up after a month of New England driving on pot-hole filled roads. They were all still solid, no movement whatsoever. This gives me confidence that they should hold up over time. Happy with the purchase, and pleased with the product and yes safe to install.
it does give the car a fake / rice look. Does it really help anything? It might cause more problems, example it might come loose, more weight on each wheel, does not dissipate heat from the calipers. Other than the rice look. I dont see any use. Better option might be buy the performance model or get some used red performance calipers and rotors. you might say the price is lot more for the real ones, then dont get this will save you lot more. If you really want red calipers on a budget, get it painted.

Great job! I installed these exact covers on our Y several weeks ago. Wish I would have waited for your excellent video.
Sorry you just missed it. Thanks for watching!
Blasphemy. Never use a torque wrench as a pry bar to loosen bolts. A torque wrench is a calibrated instrument.
Great video!! Really like the look of these covers!!
Thanks! I'm very happy with them. Thanks for watching!
is this really safe? what if becomes loose over time...
HI, how well did the letter last, I wonder if the blue thread lock keeps the bolt in.

@@iowatesla Thanks for all the info! That is very helpful and I’ve never heard of the foam tape but that is a great idea.

Fantastic Maisy 😊 looks great 👍
Thanks!
Excellent vidéo! Clear, well explained. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Will these covers hinder the brakes from being air cooled during normal driving?

Understandable. Jack was $100 at Walmart.
Blue on the white MY would look great!
How are those stickers holding up? Feel like theyd fall off overtime
will 18" wheels fit with those?
The hardest part is finding what to set the other two fasteners. The orientation? It is unclear.
Thinking about getting these. Did you have issues with them getting loose a year later??
They have been rock solid. Going to rotate my tires this week and will check to make sure things are still tights.
You see any benefit to using these as opposed to just painting them? I’m really concerned about safety.
Having trouble figuring out where the front clip clips on to screw it in securely. Any tips?

Did you use 2 jacks for tire rotation or just one lift up high enough to change both tires? curious. thx
I used 2 because I had them.
Why do they look so big!?
These are a pain in the ass to install..
Anyone's click? I have 2 different types and they also clicked.
Mine does not click.
We sell Tesla sensors in our factory, welcome to inquire.
Tires look very worn
Same exact covers on Amazon for $89

@@swiftMyDay what kind of glue did you use?
@@swiftMyDaythanks for the response. Which Loctite? They have several different ones?
You guys are corny 🌽
Here's a novel idea. Just she'll out the extra dough and get a performance model instead of getting the "performance look" SMH 🤦🏾♂️
