Fun thing about the "11th Dimension" nod... in Twinsanity, Cortex specifically states that the 10th Dimension is somewhere between the 9th and 11th. Obvious joke line is obvious of course, but now it may mean something a little more...
All the lore is getting me super pumped for the game. It really shows that they’re putting care into this franchise. It isn’t going to be a soulless sequel.
I tend to be pretty wary of platformers with multiple characters with different playstyles (just with my own experience with Sonic games), so I was hesitant when I heard Cortex was going to be playable with his own unique controls. But this actually looks pretty good so far. Looks fun. So, the progression here seems like - you beat the level once as Crash -> do it once with Cortex -> do it again with Crash but with different box configuration? I guess that would definitely explain the 100 levels of play thing. Also love how you can hear Cortex’s theme mixed into the level music when playing as him.
These are the kind of levels I was hoping for in a brand new mainline Crash game, challenging, engaging and replayable. Toys For Bob have really outdid themselves with this installment and they're the same company who worked on the Madagascar Video Game. Oh how times have changed.
This is one idea that I really liked about Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair, having modified and harder levels and I’m glad that this game is also doing this
The Cortex remix for this level is amazing. I'm guessing the same will be with all the other levels where we get to play as him. Cortex's theme was always fantastic.
I'm loving the music, gives me Crash Bash vibes? I'm not sure but I'm getting that nostalgic music feel for this game....I'm so excited and gotta say Crystal Fissure is setting the standard for Crash videos!
From the gameplay I've seen, I'm guessing that Dinosaur level also has an alternate character, as there is a moment when rocks come down and stop the dinosaur from chasing Crash, after which he has the ?! above his head again.
Great video man! It looks very good. This could end up being the hardest crash game. I love it that they keeping that difficulty level. It’s great they gone back to the core gameplay of the originals. They adding cool features on top and also make reference to other games too.
100% I agree. Some of the gameplay makes it look easy but it genuinely isn’t. The ice sections in Snow Way Out and early sections of Dino Dash are really difficult but in the best kind of way.
It seems like classic platforming is coming back, which makes me very happy! Now we need bunch of post-apocalyptic/medieval RTS games, arena based FPS like UT or Quake and we are good to go! :D
I can say with certainty that this game is difficult. Now I'm not the most skilled player, but there's some stuff you legitimately have to _practice_ for. But I love that.
This is like the old Lego batman games where you'd play as batman to stop the villian's, but then would play from their perspective; only it's been taken to the next level. Very excited for this.
This is exact what I've been waiting for! 😍 I really love the art design that Toys For Bob have used here, and love the mix of gameplay styles and variety! Something we've never really seen in a Crash game before, yet I'm still getting quite a lot of Twinsanity vibes at the same time?! 😁 I honestly don't get the criticism in the art/character designs?! 🤔 I personally like these changes quite a lot! Though I am curious to see why the inventory has a Wumpa count (similar to the box count)?? I wonder how that'll work?? Anyhow, thanks for uploading this, Andrew!! 😉👍
Well one of the reasons for the art style critique is that it messes with the continuity. N.Sane style was carried on to Nitro Fueled. Now they change it for their direct sequel to warped. The next developer will likely either bring back the previous art style or a completely new one. It brings something new and exciting to some, where as it brings back bad memories of the ps2 design changes for others.
There are multiple death animations. Since he hit Nitro crates, he presumably didn't change because it was a different animation for that. It is shown that his standard death animation has him turn into a demon and ascend, though.
Man! I would love if the music didn't revert back to the normal level music once you go back to play as Crash. This Cortex Remix is fire! The entire level should use it
I was expecting a new Crash game with all the settings from Nsane Trilogy but with new levels, but seeing what they are doing on Crash 4, with a lot of classic elements plus a lot of new things, I'm so much more excited. This game looks amazing
I wonder how will it account for if you're playing as Coco instead of Crash, if she will show up in these cutscenes for other characters instead of Crash? Also I need to see this "Dimensional Map" for the levels.
I wonder if Crash/Coco will have some dialogue like Cortex did, during the middle of the gameplay.... (I know some people don’t like Crash talking, but COME ON. Coco, Tawna, the Quantum masks, Aku Aku and the villains can talk, why can’t Crash?)
And on the topic of kids' games. Games should be hard. Its good for the games to be hard, it helps kids develop critical thinking, quick reaction etc. Easy games dumb kids down. So happy to finally see a hard crash bandicoot game!
Wait.. So you play this level with crash. Then theres another stage which is the same, but theres a section with cortex and the boxes and enemies are changed/moved?
You play the entire level through the Crash perspective and then you can do the cortex perspective. The Cortex perspective is a completely different level until Bandicoot and Cortex's paths merge (boat explosion). The player then finishes the Cortex level as Crash through what remains of the original Crash level, but the boxes and enemies have been changed. I hope this helps.
@@ErmacXtreme1991 I partly agree, I would have prefered the alternate perspective levels to remain entirely focused on the new character, instead of sharing the level with Crash. At least the rearanged boxes seem more challenging.
Cortex gameplay looks like a bit of a chore to play, slow and repetative, hope the cortex levels are few and far between and there isn't one for every single crash level...
@@CrystalFissure Except when they add the MTX, I'll hear the same thing I heard with CTR: "The devs didn't lie. Activision made them do it". Skins have already been confirmed and unlike Mario Odyssey, I don't see them being free updates.
Broken M - maybe, but I heard from the devs directly, as in the answered the question in the Q&A and categorically said there wouldn’t be microtransactions. The skins are a bonus for pre-order and they specifically said it was only for that. Things will be unlocked in-game.
We can go in circles about this (just like with the CTR denial a year ago) but the evidence is clear. All that is left is for them to announce a premium currency that you can only get when online from a "Fortnite familiar" store. On that note, they haven't said anything about the multiplayer. Notes say it is gonna be offline but if there's a place to exploit skins, that'd be it.
Off cource the game is very nice but can i ask something? The crash 1,2,3 we used to get in the portal or step on the button to get in or to see what crystals/gems/relics we are able to get. Is it the same or not?
This is so stupid having to do the same section as Crash again when you’ve just done it. Why on Earth would you want to do that. Also why would it even be different? Nothing happened in order for it to be different. And even with the slight differences it’s still the same level so what is the point? So stupid.
Thanks for all the support guys. To see the footage without commentary, stick around to the end of the video :)
Crystal, remember what cortex said in twinsanity, “beyond our realms, there are the 9th and 11th dimension, Ik this game a retelling of WOC/Twinsanity
CrystalFissure Glad the difficulty will be challenging.
Ty for the analysis and footage
Fun thing about the "11th Dimension" nod... in Twinsanity, Cortex specifically states that the 10th Dimension is somewhere between the 9th and 11th. Obvious joke line is obvious of course, but now it may mean something a little more...
Cortex is as charismatic as ever. I love how the story progresses during the level, really keeps the player intact with the storyline.
All the lore is getting me super pumped for the game. It really shows that they’re putting care into this franchise. It isn’t going to be a soulless sequel.
CrystalFissure same here! TfB really seems to be quite passionate about the series, and it shows off on the gameplay. They did a remarkable job.
Glad to know you noticed the theme too! No one else talked about it. I think its a clear sign that developers know what they are doin.

Ok the sound effect from getting the gym..... I appreciate the shit outta that, so nostalgic
Its cool Cortex's theme is mixed in with the bgm.

Not only does the Cortex gameplay look extremely fun, the music here is fantastic!

The part in 1:53 where you need to avoid the nitro crates, seems difficult
Wow this is great, the dash really give me Mega man X vibes.
It's about time!
It's really cool that they mixed in Cortex's boss theme into the stage them
I am so pumped for this! It’s classic Crash action, but with more gameplay variety, thanks to the puzzle-like element with Cortex!
You're sooooo lucky to be able to play this early.
God yes this looks good, the level of control you have over Cortex makes it look like a blast to play

This is how crash 4 was meant to be!
I really love the indicator that shows where u land.
How do the platform and box hitboxes feel, crystal?
Boxes are great, yeah. Like you’ve gotta be specific but it’s great to play actually. Definitely a difficulty curve.
@@CrystalFissure thank god!
The hitboxes are what ruined n sane trilogy for me
I'm not particularly a fan of the selfie thing, but aside from that?... This is amazing!! 😄

I would prefer the dance

4:58 note that when Cortex dies, he doesn't turn into an angel. I guess being evil has its downsides, huh? ;)

Dang. Really interesting.
I really hope that we can see some new Coco gameplay next time.
Can you capture the title theme and the soundtracks of the two levels (cortex level incluse)?
can you upload the soundtrack? for those level?
Mighty Cortex Number 9. ;P
But in all seriousness, this is definitely a neat idea on the same formula, which props to Toys for Bob.

How does Dr Cortex play in this vs Twinsanity?
I hope it comes out on epic store/steam
Eventually; it doesn't seem like it will at launch

But why should Cortex collect Wumpa Fruits?
Thx god it’s a difficult game

So long as the looming threat of Microtransactions are still here, I can't get hyped for this.
That was a mistake from a store or something, it's been confirmed for weeks, there will be no microtransactions for this game.
There will be no microtransactions. I heard this from the company themselves during a private conference last week with Lou Studdert.

It should have been called Crash Bandicoot 8, not 4. 4 was Wrath of Cortex.
They’re explaining why it’s called 4 in the game.
Agreed, Mario and Sonic games should've done it too, they're making all of us confused.
Neo Cortex looks terrible with his design. He's not square enough and doesn't look funny anymore.
