thank you so much Leyla. since 2021 early begin i was absolutely obsessed addicted unhealthy with my phone and other devices as well.. and that turned out even worse due all the trauma and forever stress slowly taking over my whole entire life and overwhelming emotions or feelings. i couldn’t keep my healthy hygiene or good routine. but now im really changing since i found interest in many different hobbies. in general in life and people. i feel so much better psychically and mentally.

I would spend 3hrs every morning doom-scrolling on TikTok, constantly looking at celebrities instagram posts which made me insecure and playing games for hours and hours. I would also stay up till 3am playing games calling my friends, watching TikTok and everything too do with social media. I started to realise the impact. My garden were failing, I was getting noting done, I wasn't making my parents proud and I was failing myself. But, I had challenging goals to become academically successful and live a perfect life. But lying in bed, sleeping and scrolling didn't help me do anything. So when I came across this video, I finally stepped up. Thank you so much, sincerely.
For the settings, you can also make it so when you pick your phone up, it doesn’t open automatically (raise to wake) + you can’t click to open it (tap to wake) That way you can’t mindlessly reach over for your phone before you know what you’re doing ^^

I would love to give some tips as well so, here we go! - Custom focus: we all know the original DND option we have, but some people even make their own custom focus (which works like DND), but it has the option of you allowing which app’s notifications to let through and block! How amazing is that? - Keep yourself busy: this might sound like a bit of a stretch, but it luckily worked for me! You can always go do things like journaling, reading, drawing, exercise etc. If you’re a student, you know that most of the time you’re going to be bombarded with studies (especially if you have exams going on) and, that’s okay! You’ll notice that with the stress of your exams, you won’t be using your phone or social media as much (but don’t get too stressed, alright? This point’s just to tell you to another way to reduce screen time when you have school^^”) - This one’s a little addition to my first point, but it’s fairly simple: try keeping your phone on DND (if you don’t want to turn off notifications) all day long. I already started to Take a Social Media Detox Challenge as for less doom scrolling on social media apps specially after wake up in morning! Instead I m replacing those social media apps with some self care and habit apps:))
I have OCD, so once I pick up my phone, I say I have to watch 3,5,10,20 etc videos. By the time I reach it, I’ve forgotten about my rule or I say just one more. I’m going to try and stop it though, I’ve managed to stop some bad habits before 💕

This was honestly heaven sent, I've been feeling really guilty about my doom scrolling lately. Here's some little notes I took for myself if it helps anybody out: ୨୧ The Phone Plan ୨୧ - Set to greyscale, alter settings - Keep it charged in another room - Wait until 12 PM to go on your phone - Set up a productive homescreen - 10 minute rule: give in to the temptation, but wait 10 minutes before you do so - Find other hobbies and things to do, there is so much out there - Put all your energy into yourself, mindset, and goals - Download useful productivity apps (screenzen, flora, etc) - Consume only content that motivates, inspires, and benefits you - Define the deeper issue with shadow work - Educate yourself. Listen to podcasts, read (Dopamine Detox**) - Delay gratification - Plan out your day - you cannot rely purely on willpower - Create your environment mindfully - place cues around your room to remind you of good habits - Place a hairband around your phone. If you have good intentions to use it that will benefit you in the long run, remove the headband. If not, leave be. - Forgive yourself - you cannot hate yourself into change. Great tips it was very helpful. I’m wanting to cut down on my phone usage but I also know that it’s all about balance and how you use the internet. I’m working on putting more effort into being physically active out n about while also getting my exercise. I usually use my phone for sm but I should use my laptop and use my phone for calling, texting, video chat, emails and pictures/recorded videos. I do go on TikTok but i spend way too much time on it lol.
If u have a habit of clicking ignore limit ask somone in ur house to set it then u can always ask for more time or tell them to give more time it bec they are always near then when ur use to have ing certain time ands stuff just get rid of the settling entirly

What worked for me is deleting TikTok and only keeping it on my iPad. Whenever I’m scrolling on my iPad it’s easier not to get carried away, but when i use my phone I don’t know when to stop.
the best way to stop scrolling is just delete all social media like instagram, tiktok etc. it can be hard for the first time, but it is the coolest thing that you can do to stop wasting time
For anyone who wants to start but is overwhelmed by the idea of not using their phone i have a tip: every time you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through short videos switch to long videos about something youre intrested in or music. Tip 2: switch to duolingo everytime you find yourself scrolling. Do 1 lesson.
