I was thinking the same thing. Now it has even a bigger pinion and smaller spur. And is going in the 60’s mph. About to upgrade and make it faster again. I got new videos about to come out.
Lol @ overpowered and break soon. I’ve got an almost 10 year old 4tec 2.0 mustang with a 540xl and hw xr8+ that I bash every weekend on 4s. It’s consistently mid 80s in parking lot bash set up with 34/50 gearing and runs cool. Have literally had zero issues with it, conservative guess is hundreds of packs ran through. Upgrades are strc alu shock towers, sway bar kit, slightly heavier dif oil in the rear only, hot racing motor mount and gear cover, +3mm hexes rear and +1mm front, quicker aluminum bodied servo, replaced the stupid plastic battery strap with Velcro ones and that’s it, almost all takeoff parts from other rc’s . Maybe have 500$ in the whole setup minus batteries and it’s been my toughest, most reliable rc to date. Short of smashing it on purpose it’s been the best rc car I’ve ever bought. I’ve spent more in tires for that thing over the years than it cost to build. I don’t even run an extra fan, just the one built into the esc lol. It’s had dozens of different hand me down motors that Ive collected over the years and the 2400kv 540xl mini maxx takeoff has been totally bulletproof for 4 years of every weekend running. Once a season I open the diffs and clean them with brake cleaner, lube them and fill them with fluid, never replaced a single part inside them. Saying it’ll break soon is a joke, the only difference between the 2.0 and 3.0 is the tire size, chassis and center driveshaft length. Kept it 2.0 length to have more body options. It’s unkillable so saying it will break soon is stupid, you obviously don’t own one or you’d know. There’s a reason it’s been around for so long with zero changes. Hell with the stock gear cover that I modified to tuck larger pinions I’ve had it to 112mph and it still had more to give but was limited by the unaerodynamic body and too soft springs. What more could you ask for? Idiotic comment.
