Omaha has a Metropolitan area population of 1 million with a city population of 486,000. Much, MUCH larger than small cities like Sioux Falls SD (metro population 250,000 and Sioux City IA (metro population of about 100,000). So you are correct, Omaha is exponentially larger. Glad you enjoyed our city. Nice video 👍
Merry Christmas. .. thanks for all your videos. They have helped me regain my health. I started on my recumbent bike with you and I am now able to walk 4 miles again. Much thanks to you. Blessings.
It was a privilege for me to walk around such a lovely city! I loved the street sculptures, especially the wagon train, truly awesome. I always feel I am there, as I love your interesting commentary. Thanks again and belated happy New Year from northern England. 🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️🚶🏽♀️
Glad you enjoyed it. I was really impressed by that sculpture as well. I loved how it stretched over several blocks and was integrated into the buildings. All the best to you. -H
Always a pleasure to view your videos on my Oculus Quest. Truly immersive and I appreciate your efforts. Not too much talking, good facts, calming voice. Best tour guide!
Absolutely love video. I used to work in the Landmark Building you had in the video and used to go walking in the Old Market and all the areas you highlighted on my breaks. Omaha is a hidden gem in the country. Every time we have friends or family come that have never been, they are all surprised. I moved to eastern Iowa for a few years, but moved back to Omaha 10 years ago and love it (small town feel with big-city amenities)
Thanks so much for commenting. I was truly blown away. I totally agree about the hidden gem and can't wait to go back and explore more in depth. Happy New Year. -H
I just discovered ur channel and have watched 3 vids so far. Very interesting. I have sub’d and look forward to watching many more. I love ur enthusiasm. Keep up the good work.
Hi Raymond and welcome. I"m glad you are enjoying the walks. You can search for walks by location and walk-time on the website as well. Are you watching them on a treadmill or some other reason? Thanks. -H
I was happy you ended up at the Joslyn art museum. Beautiful building! My family is originally from the area and it was fun to see some of the places we used to go.
12:50 The Union Station/Durham Museum was up on the bridge (adjacent) Love ❤ your walkthrough of downtown. For many decades, the Woodman Life (f/k/a Woodman of the World) insurance building was Nebraska's tallest building until First National Bank building took it over. Union Pacific HQ 38:45 Omaha is expanding west and south. 55:50 The Central High School building used to be the state capital before Lincoln.
The area with all the old buildings and spaghetti works is called the Old Market. The Holland is a performing arts center where there are concerts and other things held.
A lovely little town, but lots of Scrooges there? Really like that old section you started in and that high school was amazing! When you do multiple walks how many steps do you average? I know you mentioned wearing a FitBit and was just curious what your daily total and averages are for these longer, and multiple walks is.
To be honest, I haven’t watched whole video yet, but wondered if you got to eat at The Mattress Factory? I think that is what it is called. My son wanted to take me there on our way through to Wy. It is a really neat restaurant downtown that he went to when he drove through Iowa for RAGBRAI. We literally went out of our way to eat there.
We did not. Though, I will try to remember if and when we return. We grabbed some good pizza down in the Old Market region where the walk started. Thanks for the suggestion though. -H
You have only shown a very small part of the city which stretches for miles in three directions and most of our really cool places are west of where you show. Lots to see and do in Omaha.
If you are talking about West Omaha, there's nothing to see over there, it's just suburbs and grey. Now Midtown Crossing, blackstone and Aksarben are nice too.
I live here-not by choice, 😂 Yeah, the Christmas spirit is not very alive or well here. The expensive houses are decorated and people will drive through to see them, but businesses-not so much.
Per capita, Omaha has more restaurants and very wealthy people because of Warren Buffet and our cooking academy. It is a fabulous city for families and we want to keep it secret.
Great question. I'll leave that to people who are more knowledgeable about those places. Thanks for watching and putting a great question out there. -H
That’s a good point. I didn’t really notice it at the time. The footage is about three weeks old so just at the beginning of the Christmas season. However, most other places I visited already had lights and decorations up. Thanks for watching and commenting. - H
@@CityWalks You just missed the lights. Old Market is actually one of the better lit districts, along with historic South 24th and North 24th. Midtown Crossing also gets a bunch of lights. Sorry you missed it. We were a bit late!

Thanks for that additional info. I was really blown away by Omaha and I was serious about wanting to come back with my family. Cheers. -H
@City Walks that’s great to hear. You and your family are welcome here any time. Happy and Healthy New Year!
Almost the same size as Kansas City, with KC only have 15k more people. Of course the KC metro as a whole is 2.3M but it's mainly suburbs and sprawl
Lovely walk! Never knew Omaha was so interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it. Neither did I. Very impressed. -H
The 3 parks in downtown and the Missouri river will open Aug 18 of this year, so excited!
Merry Christmas. .. thanks for all your videos. They have helped me regain my health. I started on my recumbent bike with you and I am now able to walk 4 miles again. Much thanks to you. Blessings.
That is fantastic news!! Well done and so glad to have helped a small bit. I love getting comments like this. Merry Christmas to you too. -H
I've thought about Lincoln... Omaha came to mind too. I definitely want to visit. Best bang for your buck seems to be Nebraska.
I was really impressed with the city. So much going on and lots to see and do. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👋 -H
Seems pretty boring though

@@CityWalks honestly, the UA-cam app in the Oculus emulates a giant curved screen so well, that your 4K content is very suited for. 👌🏻

I love Omaha and this video! It is strange to see the old market so empty! awesome vid (:
It was mid morning in December so maybe that had something to do with it. Loved our brief time there. -H

Oh no, sorry to have spilled the beans. :-)

Omaha or Kansas City? Which would you rather live, work, and raise a family in?

Omaha Central High is a college prep high school
