Nothing says the “old west” quite like 300 yard sniper rifle battles with explosive bullets
I was expecting maybe a musket old fashioned big iron with nice engravings that would almost kill someone with 1 hit and maybe a dual mechanic that makes you hard to hit and makes you QuickDraw but nope shotgun that shoots hellfire that has enough punch to knock you over and only does 2 damage and a ability card that makes everybody go retarded and not able to hit you
Guns like the Carcano in its 91/38 configuration, Borchardht, to some degree the Mauser, explosive ammo, and obsolete ACW-era weaponry don’t really have any business in the game. Why do you start out with a rifle that was created half a century ago and woefully obsolete as your starting weapon? Why are guns like the Sharps not in the game? If they’re going to cherry pick history just give me a Gewehr 98 and be done with it.
That and magic potions that makes cowboys invincible, along with magic talisman cards that make them double invincible. Thos moments were always my fav in old western movies. Robbing a bank and blowing all that money on magic items
Ever since they added aim assist to sniper rifles and that ridiculous hitbox, everyone and their dead grandma's have a carcano.
No true, at some point early in the beginning of this year people started figuring out that the carcano rate of fire in combination of sharpshooter made it OP so they started spreading it to other people and before we knew it: EVERYBODY was using the sniper rifle NOBODY was using before and then it only got worse with max damage builds and the spread of level 3 tonics chuggers and big game meats

It was when the frontiers persuits update came out, they added drag aim assist, a huge hitbox and the sharpshooter ability card.

It was hilarious taking out multiple players sometimes 1v7 a posse in the heartlands or Great plains because they couldn't approach me....now I have to rick a garbage SNS build and chug tonics to fend off multiple targets or even kill one using that trash build.....and I feel dirty doing it....it took the joy out of popping someone from 300 yards out while full spring now I can let the controller go and watch as the trash aim assist pulls my camera for me right on target.....yuck.

I agree it is also the fact that your aim doesnt matter cuz of the aiming mechanics and also high level players will always win becuase of ability cards and dynamite arrows and other types of ammo so pvp is isnt even skill based it is just based on how much time you play the game for
Im that guy with level 3 tonics and level 3 over powered cards and just got griefed by a level 113 with level 1 cards and a bolt action rifle. Im sure he was cheating cause i pvp a lot and his aim was UNREAL HE DIDNT MISS BOY

I had 130 days of play time and i found Lvl 750 play time of 8200 Hours and I destroyed him and then he messeged im a cheater and threatened me with reports of lowering my matchmaking

I absolutely loved how the animations were the same from story mode, the looting, the skinning, the aiming, the running.

wont' lie ....if someone pisses my off and wont leave me alone...i go for their horse LOL, i try to focus on my missions so soon as someone tries shooting at me and just wont leave ,im like "fuck you and your horse" though best moment is when my friend someone was chasing her down so i stopped to look behind us as she ran by and i got shot in the head so i came back shot her horse shot her took her cougar put it on my horse LOL got the hell out of dodge and fast traveled turned her cougar into my supplies.
One player was hunting and he all of a sudden killed me for going near him. So I killed him, his Cripps, and his horse. I even shot his 3 star skinned carcass and turned it into a one star. He killed me again and I came back and this time he was prepared and shot me 2 times with explosive ammo. It killed my horse but I lived. I got up and killed him and he chose to parley with me

Well i can actually be a lot of fun. In pvp with auto aim you just have to avoid getting shot a lot more with side steps or jumps and spinns.

If you actually hit someone in the chin they die every time if they arent in slow n steady. The card used to protect your entire head/face like a bullet proof helmet back in beta and was completely broken but that changed a longgggg time ago

I for most of the time can’t kill someone with normal ammo and headshots with double mauser pistols in free roam, people started abusing tonics and cards... And I do the same, when attacked they won’t be laughing. But I liked the game more in beta, everyone was equal to some degree

Tbh all I want is to be able to have my dog come around the map with me along with a training scheme where it can hunt small animals, upto being able to knock other players down like police dogs etc.
Whenever i hop into online all i do is hang in valentines bar and get drunk and scream and laugh at people, and ofcourse the occasional brawl

Bought this game last week on sale because I wanted to try the pvp although I knew full well what I was possibly getting myself into. Oh boy, I sure wasn't surprised to come across what I have this past week. On top of everything you said, it's like my bullets don't count for shit. I can hit people center mass in the torso like almost a dozen times and their health doesn't go down but they'll flip around and instantly 1-shot headshot me. The new hardcore mode helps a little bit but damn is it tough to do well. And I'm saying as a long-time gta pvp'er who does ok to well most matches. I don't know if I'm going to stick with this. I'll probably just finish the story and find my pvp kicks elsewhere.

I haven’t played PvP in maybe 6-7 months. Don’t even miss it. The PvP is a hot pile of trash and I avoid all players at this point. I’ll only get in to chat with a few friends now.

I have used snipers from day one, well before they added that aim assist crap to them. I once got sick of dynamite arrows, paint it black trash so i used defensive mode and sniped them before they can aim but they called me a noob. Difference is i dont need auto aim to kill somone and especially paint it trash
I didn't even realize they have auto lock.. I use them in devensive mode and it's the same for me
PVP is more cringe than I can possibly endure. It’s like you have to sweat extra hard so the kill feels extra rewarded. I’ve only seen it this bad on battlefield 1, which I like to play parallel to it but it’s definitely worse than gta.
Like why did they have to over complicate this game the first one PVP was fine enough. I can’t imagine how they add the rolling feature into gta from the first one and in this one it’s just football dives-..the game is a big giant fail.
All they do is sit and farm gold especially when theres a event like double gold in pvp. Like Halloween. Oh you ment that pvp. But sadly this game is dying and 2 years of the same shit it is boring. Id love to see new content as well. These modders are fckin up the community as well. Its now a toxic troll fest just like GTA online now. DONT get bummed sly. I remember when gta online first came out and I would always be put in lobbies with crew members that would talk in game chat and be super chill but now all you hear is yelling and arguing about the stupidest stuff

Speaking of the showdowns having a million teams, their colorblind mode doesn’t even work. There will always be 3 teams with the same color for us tritanomaly players, and they’ve never fixed it.
I agree it doesnt require much skill because if it did there would be legit tournaments from the developers like most PvP games have. I used to love playing showdowns and play them for hrs a day. Now like you said between the booters, CronusMax and people lagging in showdowns ruins it. PvP is TRASH. I played for RDO for 3 hrs to do the Halloween pass and ranked up in just those 3 hrs. Other than that haven't played it in over a month other logging in for 30mins just to see the shitty content. I never even finished the Naturalist role. The game will go on for about a year more with little additions to the existing roles to bring people back for a week at a time and then it will die off. I dont think it was created to be more than that actually. Look at their Twitter. Rockstar barely tweets anything about RDO unless it has to and did one community live stream almost 2 years ago. All these big sales of RDR2 are story mode players. Steam only has 16,407 active players world wide. Like holy shit that is bad. Left 4 Dead 2 that came out in 2009 is stomping it!!! WTF. Besides Rockstar shitting on the game another, another reason the game won't make it is there is this pocket of about 20% of shitty ass people ruining the game. I have never seen before more toxic people collectively in one game. I know COD and GTA Online had it's fair share but this game favors those types so much it is 10x worse on RDO. I will always love the story mode though.

I've played basically solo since beta and have not delved much into the rdo community becuase of the toxicity of the players i am happy to have found a voice of reason in the maddness. A masterful and comprehensive take down of the many problems with this otherwise great game and Rockstar's complete lack of support for their own product. While they have been updating the game more frequently now, their technical support is still abysmal. I rarely played the PvP game modes to begin with, but won't until there are free aim lobbies.

Such a great video. So agree with everything in this vid. Rdr2 will remain as one of my biggest dissapointment in my gamers life. I still dont get all the bad decisions in this game and how Rockstar waste such a great environment. From bad gameplay mechanics(with almost no customisation on ps4) to cheap p2p matchmaking. The online mode has been designed to satisfy shareholders but not the players...
Because the developers at Rockstar Online are clearly so out of touch with their community. A bunch of ‘woke’ 35 year olds who thought it’d be a good idea to add hippies and tranquilliser guns for people who are offended by hunting and killing. They also probably have just a general list of basic items that they add every update. Things like “10% off tonics” and then their work is done and they get paid and go home. I genuinely believe that the developers are not willing to put in effort in this game they’re just SO FUCKING LAZY compared to other studios. No idea what they’re doing. They need to hire some better people who actually have good and exciting ideas. Also, why is every mission just waves and waves of enemies? No creative thought whatsoever
I don’t know why but I really never seen this problems you mentioned in Red Dead PvP. I was playing showdowns today with players who were lvl 600 and more but I easily smashed them into pieces with all my 62 levels and my low level teammates. The crosshair sometimes comes in problem in PvE for me but really in PvP.

Not anymore, there used to be but now all players are in the same lobby like on console.

The ability cards ruined it, some of them either don't work or are just straight up OP. Im really worried that R* is just using this game as a entree for GTA 5, it had so much potential and I honestly prefer the western setting. I play mostly PVE but sometimes I'd like a good PvP fight without sweaty free aimers or stupid ability cards that make people tank headshots. I don't understand why they don't add free aim lobbies or solo lobbies, this games PvP use to be so fun, no it's just sweatlords and griefers
I just downloaded hunt yesterday for Black Friday I haven’t checked it out yet how is it? Since rockstar has nerfed daily challenges I been thinking of playing hunt and moving on from rdr2 online
Glad you brought up the lvl gaps in PVP, I just picked it up recently and I stand no chance against akimbo semi auto pistols.
You can't roleplay without someone showing up to ruin the day out of nowhere, to where you have to take a break because you want to find them in the real world and end them. My TV fell off my wall before I could even start playing online back when RDR2 released, so I've spent the last year playing and I'm about done with it.

@@SlyJohn I would, I almost did before my computer quit on me last year. That's why I've seen the Xbox version and why I've been assimilated for the "PVP".
The other day a guy kept killing me from far away and when I parleyed with him.. he joined my pose which ended the parley so he could kill me over and over again. Had to change my posse options and it Got to the point my friends got off. I wish there was a solo lobby option. I really never do any PVP. But I find since I’m level 237 people always want to grief me. Wish I was better at pvp.

Try this, start the game in lemoyne then fast travel to Tumbleweed n set up ur camp there in Rio Bravo, its peaceful n lots of animals plus the Gabrro horn spawns a lot at that place and yeah u get to see the beautiful Mexico, all players will be in saint denis, all new Austin will be less populated

It is possible to when you reported a cheater then your game crashing to desktop after hold enter using this method ?
It’s funny because griefers quite literally suck ass at the game most of the time. The only people who enjoy PvP in RDO enjoy so because there’s no skill involved.

Because apparently sniping takes no skill, but spamming explosive arrows while using dead eye does...

As both a GTA Online and RDR Online player, I can say that none of them need much skill. However's got the bigger wallet usually wins (if they're not total trash) and it's stupid how many times you have to "Press 2 buttons to kill someone"
I guess Rockstar just doesn't care anymore about their own creations
I switched to free aim to make PvP more interesting a while back. Full free aim lobbies are great. I can't prove it but the chronus max users are killing auto aim sessions. Auto Aim PvP already bad enough.
Free Aim isn’t it on this game, it’s still trash with ability cards and PiB players marking you. It’s no real skill everyone depends on either tonics or a close range shotgun blast

When I found out tonic was a thing in rdr online I turn my back on PVP and stuck to PVE
At least they don’t kill themselves like in gta I’d rather keep my knowledge of where they are instead of having to track them down again

Great video and agree. Currently playing PVP is more frustrating than fun. So why bother.... i wish they would fix it but seems like they really don't care to fix it or don't want to. Sad. I am still looking forward to your informative content though. Hope you will keep the desire to do that.
M/KB I have to use PIB and a shotgun to have an even chance. Still get wasted by chronos and aim lock repeaters and carcanos though. in that case I have to stay as far away as pos and run around in circles trying to get a free aim shot with my rolling block. Most annoying thing ever is when someone in an event is in godmode and people don't get it to gang up on them and hogtie, kick punch the s out of them.
Pvp skill based? Who ever thinks that needs to be in a mental hospital, paint it black with dynamite arrows is ggez, u can't counter it

@@young_poncho3432 I did too when I still played a lot. Lots of us do, just get annoyed at people crying about paint it black when its the core shooting mechanic of red dead since red dead revolver.

I came back to this video after tonight s experience. I was playing showdowns and a weirdo followed me into free roam bc he was mad. After I killed him a few times he booted me. So yeah, now I understand ur point.

Your videos have always been entertaining and informative and you have both been a credit to the community I think. I also really enjoy MossySparks and SMG Finest's videos as well. The thing you guys all have in common is you always look like you are having a blast playing the game. Something that is getting harder and harder to do with the lack of content.
The card balancing is a joke. Paint It Black seems to be three cards in one and is overpowered to the detriment of all the other Dead Eye cards in my opinion.
1. Paint markers on targets.
2. No bloom = perfect accuracy.
3. No weapon sway when hit.
I can understand painting markers but why does it have the other two features as well? Doesn't seem fair to me.
As you rightly point out why should someone who can free aim well with speed and accuracy have bloom and miss their shots yet Paint It Black users have perfect accuracy regardless of whether they can shoot well or not?
In what other game are you punished for being skilled? It is ludicrous.
I personally like to free aim as much as possible as that requires time and effort to get good at. Anyone can auto-aim. Saying that though everyone should be free to play the game as they want. I get fed up of other players trying to tell me how I should play the game. Usually it is because they can't get an easy kill on me!
They do all of that for ppl to buy gold.... Ppl with low skills to enjoy the game and spent money....

I'm on pc and if I play I play only in solo sessions. And when R* gonna fix the solo session glitch I use to play the game Guess what - Uninstall !
Tbh when it was in beta...everything was balanced to me, but with taking away perfect accuracy from all deadeye card exceptin fr PIB just forces ppl to play one way with one card or fr that fact 2 the dumb slippery basterd i miss the old slippery basterd and when it had perfect accuracy on all deadeye cards and when sniping felt like sniping with no aim assist i also miss and prefer the slower movement speed of ur character that didnt need to be changed at all, nothing needed to be changed concerning the weapons and cards, only thing i think should have been changed was tonic spam, cause that one change would have bring better balance to everything, without having to change cards and mess up the accuracy in deadeye smh 😔 how many wish to go bk to beta days just to enjoy better balanced pvp
Yeah I agree the reason I tried free aim is that it would be harder for me give me a challenge you know. I did swap back to assisted because I got killed by a level 200 every second and I can’t fight back .
I wish they would just bring back some of the modes from Red Dead 1. That type of variety is what is needed.

Ive seen players using crazy exploits that basically makes them invisible and kind of invisible i have no clue how they do it but there characters start getting blurry and crystaly looking you cant shoot them but they can shoot you the only way to kill them is to somehow get the shot off before they do the glitch. This is on console too

It's not a contest of who's the fastest gun or the best shot...and that's the real problem. It's just a question of who has their "one free headshot" perk left, or which one has explosive ammo equipped. Don't get me started on shotgun+deadeye combo.

I am a level 208 and I like to make it fair for my opponents so when I do engage in PvP I tend not to use tonics unless they are
The same can be said for my dead eye I use three different deadeye perks slippery bastard paint it Black and slow and steady those are three different ones I'll use
I was in defensive mode when some griefers (about 7 people) jumped me with incendiary buckshot. Not to mention they were lag switching and booted me offline after I slaughtered them. Why go looking for trouble if ya cant handle it.

There was a time when I started to get griefed by payers on PS4, I changed session they followed me, I even kept changing location using fast travel and they knew exactly where I was. None of them were on my friends list and they were not on my recent players list. No idea how they do it

Playing RDR2 solely for PVP is like playing COD for the driving mechanic...
Original player here, and I know this video is old but I’ll say that I really like RDR Online overall but I agree the PVP is absolutely trash. The fact that you can’t lobby vote the next game mode or even vote for the next map is kinda bad. The maps are way too big and open half the time, and even the free roam PVP is like that too at times if you’re on the plains or empty fields where you basically have no choice but to use a sniper or get spawn killed constantly. The game modes are a little lacking too, being how you can’t even use your own weapon load-out half the time and then there’s the tonics which people can just use all the time in gunfights and just makes it feel like, eh. Plus the almost pointless ability cards which require aaaall that money and XP, which are more useful in PVE than PVP. I mean it’s a good game overall but the PVP modes are definitely one of the worst aspects of the online.

The bloom thing it's not a problem if you use first person and it makes sense if you ever shot a gun before. if you dont look down the sights most likely you'll miss. Your basically just hip firing unless you play in first person or use a scope.
Bar slapping is the only good form of PVP on this game

Perhaps if they made a mode that adheres to the first RDR's online. Idk about anybody else but those shootouts were great. Especially the beginning of em. With everyone standing in a circle with that "that dudes gonna die" look. (No ability cards and even no dead eye. Just folks with guns and grit)
They need bring land grabs back that will bring everyone back together .. it's like hardcore no one shows up on map
The only fun parts of this game are messing around with friends and playing on update days...
They just want money dont buy nothing from rockstar no more next gen for Rockstar will be dead if people pay attention

@@rambo-cambo3581 I think their games are pretty wack gameplay wise, they are just being carried by the visuals, voice acting, the sounds, the physics, the architecture, animations ect. I feel like the actual design of the gameplay experience, the control, the movement, the mechanics, the mission design, the combat design, all those things are very poorly implemented.

The gameplay itself *and* the design elements were both well enough executed to keep me playing the story over and over again, as well as spending most of my time exploring a deeply immersive and engaging world
I didnt sink that much time into it just because of some voice acting and pretty skyboxes. The whole experience ties in excellently, and I hope it ages well
Online on the other hand, is a wretched broken mess and deserves to be buried
@@rambo-cambo3581 Sure, the elements I listed are an extremely important part of the overall experience, that was kind of my point. But I guess you are right, you can't call the overall experience bad, can't say they make bad games, even though they do in a sense. As a PC player, I was super disappointed when I actually got to play the game. It looked and sounded great but everything else, every interactive part of the game (the parts that actually differentiate a game from a movie), felt awful, very bad. Didn't have a choice though, I just went with it. Still do, in fact, I still play online. Maybe that's why I am so bitter about it.
That's why I only do missions and call to arms. Because I never touch PvP because what is the point. Last time I checked I played PvP, I literally got destroyed by sweats and people who used dynamite arrows. What is the point of playing PvP and then all of the sudden you see people that are trying extra hard to get one kill. It's getting to the point where we are gonna be straight away from playing PvP.
i like pvp and im very good at it, i notice a huge skill gap in sniping and find myself often winning 1v3s against high level players with my carcano alone. the auto aim part of the game has a much smaller skill gap which is basically non existent thanks to pib
