REAL-TIME Repair- Slime Tire Plug Kit - I've Never done this before!

- This is the first time I've plugged a tire and I wanted to document it. I've read through the instructions and watched a few videos but I thought you may benefit from watching my experience.
I filmed most of this in real time, cutting out just a few parts. The total time took about 15 minutes. And it went easier than I expected. I'm not a professional so feel free to comment with advice, information or your own experiences if you think they'd be helpful!
Thanks!
Best to dry off the area first and definitely try to unscrew any screws as it will rip out the hole larger. After inserting the needle, it's best to turn the handle a quarter turn to create a "knot" inside the tyre, then yank out the needle firmly. Most bikers use these and swear by them.
How long does this last?
@@VettaBoop My repair covered around 3,000 miles so I reckon they're okay for the life of a tyre. I've come across others who left them in until the tyre wore out.
@@FlyingPanMan thank you 😘😘 I have to do mine tomorrow and I'm SO nervous! I hope I do it right. My tire is smaller than usual cars, so I think it'll plug better?
@@VettaBoop depends i guess how good you done it, i did one on my car over year and half ago, and still hasnt leaked
@@xxxkybourbonxxxxis rubber cement necessary? I've noticed some of the kit does not include the rubber cement.
Those are some good tires. Nice tread too.
That IS a weird feeling, you got this!
Good instruction but if tyre (australia) is fitted to the rear of vehicle it will wear out but if fitted to the spare it may have to be fitted to replace one of the front tyres . I would not feel good with a patched wheel on a steering wheel at 100 km
The tire is much easier to plug with it full of air that way there is minimal flexing of the tire when you push the plug in.
Yes, that's how I do it. Set up everything so you can go from one tool to the next fast so you aren't losing air in a tire. Once I plug in mu tire still have over 50% air in It.
always over fill the tire with air, have all supplies ready to go, put out the screw or whatever, and jam the plug in really fast, then let out pressure to the right specs
Suppose to keep the tyre inflated.
Get all the tools ready first then pull the screw out while sir is in.
2:09 My mans 🤣🤣🤣🤣
How long should I let it sit before I pump the tire again? I'm about to plug my motorcycle tire
when i plug tires, i fill it up with air before i plug it
No need to wait at all
Bro doesn’t even have anything ready lol ur ganna lose so much air
why dont you try and read the instructions before you video tape instruct us
He did.
Dude I love the fact you talk about how doing this kind of repair feels weird! Love this thank you!
Takeaway from this video.. try it out cuz you never know what the results may be!
Thank you, just got this done myself for the first time. As a word of advice, if the plug going in is too hard, double check you have the right angle. It was impossible until I shifted ever so slightly and then it went in much easier
Phillips screwdriver ...c'mon it's a no brainer.
Thanks for making this video, Dave. It’s really helpful to see this from the novice perspective!
hahha, i just plugged a tire on my honda accord still on the car, this is the fastest way to get back rolling quick, what sucks is the same as when i put new tires on my nissan maxima one month later i picked up a screw in the same front tire as on my honda and exactely one month later ? freaking crazy huh ? well the nissan plug is still holding air even 3 years later, so you did it right as i did ;)
I haven’t done it before either, that is why I will go find a video of someone that did it 100x times.
It's less messy if you put the glue in the hole.
Very nice job, young man. I’ve done many of these, and you did it just right.
How long does this last? I'm doing mine today.
i seen somewhere where you light the cement rubber on fire before you put it in?
No you cut off excess on tire tread. Then light it on fire, ONLY for a couple seconds then snuff out flame. Have something you can press on plug to seal the deal
Sadly Dads dont teach their sons this as many Dads of my era. Ive done this for over 60 yrs…
You talk to much
I was watching this video following because i found a screw in my right rear tire in the tread on my Equinox crossing fingers this'll be the best money saver than taking my Equinox to a tire repair shop spending alot of money for tire repair
Just put it in the tyre
Thank you brother your video was helpful and I just fixed my tire thanks so much
This guy is from California
Why does Slime packaging only show ATV, Trailer, motorcycle, tractor images on their packages? They never show images of cars or trucks? Are these not to be used for full size cars & trucks?
I'm wondering the same thing. O'Reilly & Autozone said these were for car tires until I showed them the little symbols of wheel barrows, lawnmowers, etc. Then I asked "Can I put this on my car tire? Sometime it goes 75 mph." They said they weren't sure.
Done mh front tyre today first time jn 5 minutes without removing the tyre as it was front one.
Is it possible for me to do this without taking the wheel off? I don’t have a Jack.
Already bought the kit lol
Yea, it should work. Just be sure to wait the time listed in directions before reinflating
yes you do not have to remove the wheel, and you do not have to deflate the tire either it is the same repair even when the tire still has air, as a matter of fact it makes it easier if the tire is inflated.
@@skismosis thanks man
@@skismosis I’ve been waiting six months with this flat tire waiting for you to reply.
pump the tire 1st pal 😂 lol
air in tyre works better but that tyre not under load so should be cool
How permanent is the fix please?
The life of the tire
How long your tire last after you fix your tire
They last the life of the tire
i plugged a front tire on my nissan 3 years ago and have never had to add air sooo, it is a permanent fix.
In an emergency, if I haven't eaten in days, can I eat the rubber plugs?
Or your passengers
Eat the spare tyre in the boot. Its meant for emergencies.
For better results do a turn to create a knot on the inside and use rubber glue to help slide it in . Then cut off the extra on the outside and light the little part on fire and squish it out to create a better top seal .
No. Instructions literally say, DO NOT TWIST THE NEEDLE
@@supersabrosinhocorrect. Don't need to twist
thanks for the video. I have one of these for "emergencies" as well but never done it.
Ottimo lavoro! Grazie mi serviva sapere come fare.
This is the kinda guy that has his wife return clothes that she bought form him...ummm that's a weird feeling
Prefer the rasp type hole cleaning tool rather than the spiral type that that kit had. Easier with air in tire. Leave clean out tool in hole to keep tire inflated. I don’t leave that much sticking out.
Heya, just curious, how long did that plug last on that tire?
I plugged my tire and drove it for 20,000 miles. Then I bought a new set of tires because of the normal wear and tears
This video just save me a lot of trouble, thanks in advance !!!!
I just used the same kit this week to repair my son's tire. It worked well, but I had a heck of a time pushing in the plug! I'm pretty strong and I was pushing with all my might and it didn't want to go in. I gave up on the first one and threaded up a second after I re-reamed the hole and tested it with the insertion tool. Those went in easy, but when it came to push in the plug it was really hard. I let some air out of the tire the second time, thinking the pressure was keeping it from going in, but it was still hard. It finally went in after extended pressure on it. I think it had to ease itself in or something. Once it was in, I cut off the remainder and it's been holding air fine since. Anyone know how to get it to go in easier next time? Was wondering if the glue was stopping it.
No actually the glue helps it go in easier than without it....
More glue is better - it's just a bear of a job dude - same with me last night - all my might - had to keep on keepin on until it finally gave & went in - used the rubber cement liberally - parked it with the plug @ 6:00 o'clock position to let the cement settle in the hole - all good
Look up rexpair…this works for those tiny holes which by the way is 99% of the time. Add them to your arsenal. I used it today for the first time and a child could do it. The screw barely penetrated into the tire. I actually screwed the reamer in and created the hole then reamed it. So what I’m saying is that the hole was the size of a pin hole and I repaired it with 1 hand easily. Trying that with a normal 6mm reamer is quite the task and then the large needle with plug inserted is almost impossible on tiny holes. Also add nealy plug kit, and an ARB kit and you will have all situations covered. Different kits for different punctures.
Unfortunately i have to do mine in the tire well cause i can’t find my specialty nut for my tire to pull it off
HEPLFULL HINT, FIND A DRILL BIT THE SAME SIZE AS THE REAMER AND DRILL OUT THE HOLE IF IT IS SMALLER IN DIAMETER. OTHERWISE, IT'S ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE PLUG IN THE HOLE BECAUSE THE HOLE IS TOO SMALL. DO THAT, THEN IT'S EASY.
If it's difficult going in, it'll be nearly impossible coming out.
you dont want the hole to be bigger, dont do this, u want it tight
Thank you for the video
It helped me. It was my first time to. I appreciate it
Your workbench should not be your tire and you should ream it many times approximately 4 times not just once.
yes, i ream it over 10 times
Sirens tell us your from NY😂
Interesting . Thank you . Cheers
was it a weird feeling?
Lol why why why would you make a video when you are such a " i dont know " super paranoid omg what a weird video.
@@kevinstewart4686 he’s walking you through what it’s like doing it for the first time… I appreciated it actually
Best to check the angle of the hole with a drill bit. Best to only use the fixed tyre at the rear on the passenger side because that is the typical tyre being punctured due the front tyre picking up the nail and darting into the back tyre. Rear also less weight, less steering action and less deforming on front wheel drive vehicles. I also used Loctite 567 pipe Sealant (up to 1050kPa pressure) with the same screw (or a slightly larger screw) since 4 years and still holding tyre pressure (regularly checked).
I like Bangladesh
Anybody know if they sell the plug strips seperately for when you've used up the ones in the kit?
Yup, I was in Walmart and I’m pretty sure I saw like a 30 pack for 7-10 bucks
@@sanmat2560 Thank you. Much obliged.
Thanx for your help I appreciate your time
Thank you so much this made it so easy for me. I even got my dad to help me we enjoyed that.
Thankful ❤💐
Hey ! Thank you ! It worked !
A plug will last forever the glue just helps to get the plug to slide in easier no need for glue at all
Wrong.I 'd say. If all it does is slide then dawn detergent would suffice?
Guessing the glue fills gaps and has slippy additive as well.
@@itsruf1 The first guy is right, the cement acts more as a lubricant, it's not needed. A lot of the tire repair kits come with grease instead of rubber cement.
They have also changed the kits now. I have the same exact one but it comes with 8 plugs, and plug bond, they took away the cement
It's an alcohol solution so also acts as a primer to clean out the grime for enhanced bonding with the patch.
Nice video bro I am enjoy the video help full video thank you bro next video in jekta cleaner video hurry up
What if it still has bubbles?? 🤷♀️
You can try to ream out the plug and redo it. Make sure to use some twisting motions when you insert the plug in to get a better seal.
Use the fatter plug
Thread the needle brah!
If let out about half the air the plug will go in easier. Letting out all the air makes it harder to get the plug in. When you put in the plug don't push it all the way in. Only push it in the length of what you pulled out. If it's aong nail that goes all the way through, you need a patch.
Wait did he call those needle noses a wrench?
LMAO
But you call them needle noses..They arent needle noses..Just needle nose pliers...

Now even that tire it almost looks like a brand new tire.If a glued plug in fixed tire.Defiantly it can’t uses as regular permanent tire anymore. You are smart, now uses this tire as for a spare tire only.Because these tires plugs are designed and tested by those manufacturers. It only can helped and lasted to 100 miles max.If you’re going to uses this glued fixed plug in tire as regular replacement tire on your car and it very dangerous to use as a regular replacement tire and if uses beyond 100 miles can causes to have blow out at any times while you’re driving with it.
wrong!
😆

I have used these a few times and the repairs have lasted the life of the tire. Honestly these are better than the patches they put on at the tire shop.
You're not speaking from experience. Lol😅
