Hi Jason great video. They must not be confident in their repairs too the track having to go slow. I repair many things at work and always confident in my work.
Newly-repaired track is called "disturbed track." The first few trains over it go very slowly. Had that happen to me on AMTRAK in an area of repaired track where track speed was 89. We did about 20, and were late at every station to Port Huron.
Well Jason, ELS are certainly pushing their engines - that was a hell of a load for one - and the weight to test the replacement rails? I guess they know what they're doing!!
Larkin needs to quit buying old wood passenger cars for restoration and stick some money into his roadbed! He should also scrap all those beyond restoration old loco's he had sitting around.
Jason, what’s the grade profile? Uphill going North? Downhil going South or ViceVersa? I realize there are probably minor ups / downs, but prevailing grade? Thanks! 🙃
The UP has lost a lot of industry in the past few decades. The large Smurfit-Stone Container Plant closing in Octonagon had to really hurt them. Most of the Iron mines closed. The only thing keeping this line open is LP in Sagola. Hard to fund track work without enough revenue. Railroads pay out of pocket wheras roads and airports are government funded.
as much of a mess as those tracks are, idk how anyone ever ships stuff over this line. but i am glad you film it.
Nice work, Jason, to capture all the catch up work.....
Incredible train for one engine. great video work Jason.
Until there's a change in management E&LS will simply lurch from one derailment to the next. Another great video, thanks Jason!
Good luck with the adoption. Love your birds. Need more pictures. Thanks for all you do Jason.
Thanks, Jason, for your time to film this video
13:15--Newly-repaired track is called "disturbed track." The first few trains run very slowly over it so that it "settles in."
She's a pretty birdie, Jason! Happy for you! Try for sharing!
This was an awesome catch and ELS aka Penn Central 3.0 still want to dog there engines with long heavy loads and one engine, great lol
Awesome video! ELS is taking a lot of risk running these long train on bad track. Keep it up!

Great catch J.Greg Southern Ontario.
I can't believe there's not 10 feet of snow piles melting in every direction in the UP this time of year! Love the video Jason!
I enjoyed that video👍👍

Well they fixed that stretch at least, let's hope there's plenty more new old ties to come. 👍👍👍🇬🇧

I counted 22 centerbeam car loads od siding.
Bet those traction motors were glowing Red Hot with that much Train to pull...😬
They can throw all the New (used) ties at the track work, they want! They still need crushed rock (ballast) too!
Those ties looked kinda odd... They do need them though plus freshing up the ballast.
Any trains expected to come thru tomorrow? Heading to I.M. Wednesday morning.
About time. It only took a derailment or 2
Are you sure you want to park that close to ELS tracks?
Awesome 😎
Where in ILLINOIS has your son moved to? A partial description (like NW Ill or southern Ill, etc.) is all I seek. 😊
ZERO EIGHT THIRTY Jason? WoW That's about when I get up (I stay up late - I am a nite nut) Thanks for doing that for your Railfans!
You bet! Still awake now, up by 7am. lol
They need to spend some money and fix those tracks
This railroad is what it looks like when you have 60 years of deferred maintenance
That's what happens when you don't have revenue, this company lost a lot since 1985.

It still looks like it did when it was Milwaukee Road track.

Jason has become a Parrothead 😎
good train video
Thanks for visiting
yep, just put hardy plank on my house
38 cars and one engine and green fredy

Sounds like they need to work on those tracks badly!

You don't want to stop quickly and jam all the cars together and maybe break 'sumpin'.
I could not find reporting mark RISX (the orange hopper car) from a 2023 list. Anyone else have better listing???
39 cars.
Seems like a lot of cars for one engine
Are you kidding??? I recall back in the early 1990s my engineer and I had 1 SD60 and 110 cars.
This is an SD40, not a SD60.
@@jasonasselin no that's a SD40-2.
Carting around Migrants
Those old ties will lay there for years...
Alter Metal BBQing?
What, One male and two female parrots I didn't know the male parrot was mormon. Go figure.
Trains don't like more than a 3% grade.
Good luck with your adopted parrot.
We 3 trump wants to bring back the draft.??
ELS playing catch up moving freight.
Nice bird. Your son moves to ILL and he gets replaced by a parrot. 🦜👍🇺🇲
