Is this solver faster than the 18.5 minimal pyro solver? I saw some impressive speeds for the minimal pyro solver on the houdini facebook group. I don't remember the exact numbers though.
@@wei-hsiangchen3744 I haven't seen anything in the help file that suggests the minimal pyro solver is not a "real GPU solver", whatever that means, nor any statement that claims axiom is faster than the minimal pyro solver. It seems more like your interpretation or lack of comprehension if anything.
@@Radiation4TheNation Minimal pyro solver is just for prototyping. It can't produce a final simulation with enough quality due to a lot of features limitation. That's why I say it is not a "real GPU solver". No offense, I think you are lack of ability to find the answer from the internet.
I can't figure out where to put the dso and otis folders I've tried c/users/documents/houdini and can't get it to work guess i'm missing something here.
i figured it out, you have to go into your side effect folder in your program files""C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 18.5.462"""--- in there you will see two folders you need-- the houdini and the packages -- the axiom zip you downloaded has two folders in it "dso and otls". copy the contents and paste in the folders and paste inside the folder with the same name inside the""C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 18.5.462\houdini""" . than copy past the json file from the zip and paste it in the packages folder located in your program files/sideeffects/houdini18.5.462/ packages.
Axiom is great but its limited by the amount of VRAM you have. So if you have a card with 8GB ram, it can fill that when doing large voxel counts simulations. A good way around that is to creat a box as a sink object, invert it and use it as a limiting domain.
I also can't figure out where to put the dso and otis folders. I open c/users/documents/houdini18.5 and don't find a preferences directory. WE NEED A TUTORIAL to put the Plugin IN !!!!! Please!!! Some of us are seriously NEW to this software and are not IT experts.

Bought the license for the solver, its amazing for beginners such as myself who don't know much because it simplifies the workflow a lot for pyro
I found funny note beside my GPU device info in Axiom Solver: GeForce RTX 3080 - How did you get one!? :D
the result looks amazing ! will try it for sure.. good work
Thanks Urban!! Thanks for finding time and recording this !! As always very useful.
Is there anymore "Octree Lookup" option in settings?
it seems that the vel noise in the axiom solver is actually a 1D noise given the look it takes when it is disturbed

Axiom is faster than minimal solver. Minimal solver is not even a real GPU solver.
@@wei-hsiangchen3744 And you state this based on what exactly?

how to install this plug-in?
Can i use this with houdini apprentice or do i need at least an indi license
You can use it with any Houdini license, even apprentice!

im only learning to be more tech savy so i hope that didnt confuse you
Not really free if you have to pay to use it in proper houdini and for it not to have streaking in the voxels :/
damn that rocket launch.
