Pretty much all of that makes sense. The thing about this stuff that is confusing is drop rate and rarity are guards GGG uses to control their difficulty, but they also allow a trading, which bypasses nearly all of these guards, which indirectly creates all of these other problems. The reasonable solution to this is to create 2 different leagues. One that blocks trading and forces the 'people have to grind for every single thing they get' philosophy, and another league which uses trading to give people a choice and easy access to the currency and gear they want, and thus customize the difficulty level to their own needs. What's confusing is that GGG didn't do that. Yes, they have 2 different leagues, but the execution is frustrating and terrible. In the trading one they said 'we will setup all these controls about access to currency and gear, but we won't block trading, which allows people to bypass them, but we also won't incorporate it into the game in a way that makes for a good experience'. There are MANY good things that GGG does, but that one is genuinely bad game design and makes no sense. All it does is creates division and makes for a terrible gaming experience. All of these problems on all sides would be solved if they properly created these 2 different leagues and gave players a choice.
Posted it in a reply and now posting again. _Thank you._ We have been ranting about the lack of Deterministic Crafting in the comments of just about every PoE2 video on rarity. Last Epoch is the GOAT here and where people should be looking for inspiration.
Is rarity overblown. Meh not really. People arent having issues with needing 300% rarity. People are having issues that rarity feels mandatory for drops. Multiple videos online have already shown the difference between 0% rarity and +100% rarity is huge in terms of drops. The problem is this makes it feel like a mandatory stat with how bad base drop rates are. The problem with that is then everyone needs to get rarity somewhere and often comes at the cost of defenses for most builds, in a game where defenses are already kinda weak. Rarity itself isnt a problem. Rarity as a stat on gear is. You shouldnt be able to get more/better loot just cause you put a stat on gear that says +2 to drops. Increased drops/rarity should be applied inherently to everything in game and scale based on difficulty. This gives every build the ability to build more damage or defense to do the higher difficulty and get rewarded for it. You dont get Temporalis just because you put rarity on gear, you get it because you did difficult content and succeeded. Why should drops be any different? Do a T16 +2 level triple suffix map? Get rewarded for it. You should be rewarded for doing content not just cause you boosted the bases value of drops with a stat on gear.
The point is that 100% rarity is a whole different ball game than 400% rarity. Almost every build can squeeze 100% rarity on it. There is this idea going around that you need 400% rarity to have gg drops like streamers. I see your point and I am not saying that rarity in the game on gear is a great solution. However I don't think its AS BIG of an issue as some of the other things going on. I think rarity got picked up as the easy target. The combination of no deterministic crafting + no sink for divines outweighs rarity for me. The big emphasis is streamers have stated that item rarity is killing build diversity, and I would argue that is more so lack of % life nodes, defenses and AOE clear on other classes. Thanks for your comment.
Rarity works nicely in PoE 1 though, having it on gear is not the issue, having it affect currency is. Which is twice more annoying because PoE 1 solved this issue more than 4 years ago

PoE is a study case of trade addiction or is it gambling? I cannot confirm but there are rumors going around that there may be malware or something like that associated with the poe2 trade extension. Again this is just here say. however people have been using awakened poe trade for 10 years and they just made a version for poe2 called exile exchange 2. It is from the same producer I have been using for years. So idk if overwolf is a problem or not but what I do know is you're probably fine if you use exile exchange 2.
It may not be an issue but there may be an issue with account hacking and overwolf. There may be a trojan/malware version of overwolf getting passed around. I am not sure on this though.
Excellent breakdown of how this works, I would emphasize the fact the most profitable activities in a game with a live market are the things that most people find annoying and tedious to do.I for one love blasting, I do not enjoy the hideout warrior meta and am thankful for the people who are doing it :D
Get some more realistic expectations of what you can currently afford, and buy that, then get your 45 div items later on. You dont want to play with your current gear until you get 45 div likely.
It's not overblown. Average builds are doing 1/10th or even 1/50th the damage of good builds (some egregious offenders even more). Average builds don't have room for rarity and are already clearing very slowly compared to better builds. Rarity takes this difference and multiplies it. It's a huge problem and has no place being a stat on gear currently.
This is more of a balancing issue than a rarity issue. You basically just said it yourself. It's too hard to get free stats on the inferior builds. the clear is crap on a lot of builds. I point to balance as more of the issue then sticking some rarity on gear that has heavy diminishing returns. Make rarity not effect currency and make other builds better. Problem solved. I play spark because I don't want to clear tiny little packs at a time. it comes down to clear. Thats why the frozen explody monk is number two. One of the only builds that can demolish bosses AND blow up screens. The two common denominators.
@@Snugs_TTV Honestly, I'm not sure you are looking at it totally objectively. @@Snugs_TTV If MF is in a game, then it becomes a balancing issue. But not just for builds. For content. All build archetypes must be able to effectively use MF gear. @@GorgeousFortress I have a warrior. At a high level of gear, you can fit rarity into it. That is the problem the key word *at a high level*. I agree, keep item rarity, I hope GGG doesn't bow to all the players & big streamers complaining saying it has to go, It's very unique like Diablo 2. If they get rid of it than it's just another ARPG where everyone gets the same drops. pretty much & becomes a bland game.

Again this is just here say. however people have been using awakened poe trade for 10 years and they just made a version for poe2 called exile exchange 2. It is from the same producer I have been using for years. So idk if overwolf is a problem or not but what I do know is you're probably fine if you use exile exchange 2.
Good take
What's the problem with Overwolf? Aways used, never had a problem.
there are rumours that people get hacked because of overlays
It may not be an issue but there may be an issue with account hacking and overwolf. There may be a trojan/malware version of overwolf getting passed around. I am not sure on this though.
Excellent breakdown of how this works, I would emphasize the fact the most profitable activities in a game with a live market are the things that most people find annoying and tedious to do.I for one love blasting, I do not enjoy the hideout warrior meta and am thankful for the people who are doing it :D
Thanks for watching. I went to sleep with 20 views on this video and woke up with 2500. Thats a lot for me. So thanks for being here!
had my first div drop yesterday but items i want to buy is at least 45 divs + as of now 1 div is worth 130 ex orbs
Gratz on your first div! Invest wisely!
Get some more realistic expectations of what you can currently afford, and buy that, then get your 45 div items later on. You dont want to play with your current gear until you get 45 div likely.
isnt 20% rarity = 20% higher chance?
No, it is an increase, not a multiplication.
@@dagopoe Player rarity is multiplicative with map and mob rarity.
@@c-tothefourth4879 read the OC before tagging me.
@@dagopoe" not a multiplication"
@@dagopoe thank you
It's not overblown.
Spark / ES / Archmage are so over performing right now it's not even fair to compare it to other builds and that's the lens you are viewing the game from. Try re-rolling a warrior and seeing if you have enough mod space left to fit rarity, let alone the fact your slower / weaker / less durable.
@@Snugs_TTV If MF is in a game, then it becomes a balancing issue. But not just for builds. For content. All build archetypes must be able to effectively use MF gear. All MF must scale all loot in a balanced way.
To make a long story short, ALL content and ALL builds must be perfectly balanced in order for rarity to not be a problem. That's not possible.
@@GorgeousFortress I have a warrior. At a high level of gear, you can fit rarity into it. That is the problem the key word *at a high level*. Yes rarity should not feel "required" in a build to make it feel meaningful but the whole perspective I think, has gotten over blown. That people have this idea in their mind like they need 400% rarity to be playing a build that isn't a waste of time. Yes spark/archmage (more so archmage than spark) is OP and I will switch to the next OP build after it gets nerfed because thats what I do.
The thing is my lens isn't only archmage. Yes it is by far my main playtime. However I am paying attention to other peoples experiences on other builds deeply.
I do appreciate your opinion and I will reflect on it for sure.
@@Arccanos except so much gets fixed if the interaction between rarity and currency is changed and ALSO if divine orbs have a sink. Not just endlessly being traded around hands while more and more are being generated. This is how the market was much more gradual in POE1
Well... reality is the top 1% right now are all just major exploit abusers. Either through the 1000% rarity shield or the vaal orb exploiting. I get it's holidays, but I actually think they may need a hard reset since they were way to slow to get on top of these exploits. Hell the 1000% rarity bug has been kicking around for like 10+ days. Mix in there are pretty major outlier builds that GGG has ignored, people have already realized the gains. Exploit early, Exploit often.
Retroactively, I think it was a big mistake releasing POE2 right before the Holidays, and it's crazy seeing they were doing day 1/2 nerfs to Xbows and Mace skills...
PoE rules!! Subbed!! 2025!!
I agree, keep item rarity, I hope GGG doesn't bow to all the players & big streamers complaining saying it has to go, It's very unique like Diablo 2.
If they get rid of it than it's just another ARPG where everyone gets the same drops. pretty much & becomes a bland game.
N'to background music ? Good taste 👍
nailed it. Loving the Euro Melodic stuff.
This isn't a league.
This beta test will change a lot
Mf is fine.
All these builds are going to get nerf into the ground.
Just wait
How is mf fine? Are you even aware of the ways it's being exploited?
Then things like eternal knights need to get nerfed :)
agree 100% concerning the rarity gripe. Only top streamers/blasters are complaining. Yet its funny how all of them are exploiting the mechanic until its nerfed. Props to you for not being afraid to post your views on it.
Thanks for watching. Just my one and half cents but hopefully it makes sense.
Crafting needs some work, its terrible in its current place
its awful. I miss poe1 crafting in some ways so much.
I made 500 dollars flipping items in diablo 3s real money aution house.
>trade league exists
>player base becomes degenerate
>game gets worse for everyone as a result
trade league is the problem, always has been
I get it, I enjoy trading though. However sometimes I really enjoy SSF to get away from the antics and just enjoy the base game in poe1 and im sure I will in poe2
@@Snugs_TTV Oh 100%, trading is the most popular game mode, because people like to play it - no flaw in that. Fun > what someone else says. The rising popularity of the game and loot acquisition in poe2 simply has everyone decked out in incredible gear for a few dozen exalteds (and the giant fomo it brings with it).
Imo, crafting material shouldnt be currency at first place.
its best way to prevent inflation
New here huh? It was actually brilliant in poe1 and is brilliant for an arpg, the one game I've ever seen where extremely good equipment could be bought with just 1 drop item . The problem isn't that it's a crafting material the problem is in poe2 the crafting system is currently undercooked and the system is not really working with the economy right now since divine orbs are being used to buy items and not much else so they aren't leaving the economy as they should.
@@MsPatricosthere is inflation in poe1 lol, does not work
@@royalecrafts6252 imagine how bad would it be otherwise like 1000:1 or more
And you'd be wrong because PoE1 has shown for 10 years it works.
ah look another streamer repeating the same thing... magic find is not a new thing man up yall... the market is not overflowing because joe that works 9-5 mon-fri is getting a couple divines a week lol your problem is coin sellers and if you have to ask why then obviously your argument have flaws
Did you watch the video?
they are Duplicating Items.....
MF hype is not overblown. You can play a stat stack build from lvl one getting MF on your gear. YOU WILL notice a fuck load more shit. This is from the jump. It gets ONLY worse in maps.
My first playthrough I got some exalt. My 2nd playthrough using twinkes gear I got 2 divines and 2 greater jewel orbs. It's massive difference.
@@pokermitten9795 So my question is, was the better gear the problem, how much did RNG effect this? Getting a divine at all in the campaign WITH rarity gear is pretty tough. Keep in mind. No towers/tablets ect.
@@Snugs_TTV
Try yourself. Run with 0 MF all of just act one.
Then run back with full MF. Make a video on it..
Then keep in mind its JUST act one. MF in the end game is insane. It's the best stat you can get on an item
@@lawless7859 l have mate? How did I get through act 1 the first time?
@@Snugs_TTV I'm saying you can do them both and give us the results.
All this trade crap ruins the game. All this currency is determined by "farming bots" selling crap from websites. Plus, people whose job it is to play the game all day make 1 video saying you "need" this item for a build to work. It immediately skyrockets the price. It's a total scam if we are being honest. EVERY item in this game should not cost you more than 1 divine. Period. ITS A GAME!! PbP - Players before Pixels
Go play D4 kr LE. They won't change how PoE economy works just because a few people can't stomach farming loot.
We need a few different ARPGs to catter to everyone, including the mid and hardcore players. If this one is not to your taste, go play the less time intensive ones, seriously.
@@RamzaBehoulveif you are down with botting, you should go play an MMO and leave the arpgs for people who actually love gaming. Seriously.
I see your point, the problem with your outlook for me, is for the person specifically that grinds like a mofo. The content and the chase would become to fast and too stale. I need really ridiculously high goals to achieve or else the experience gets stale for me. That being said, the whole point of playing a game is to have fun. People have fun in games in different ways.
People wouldn't be driven to Trade if Crafting wasn't DogShii Gacha
@@catra195 People will always want to trade because of instant gratification and power fantasy.
however ssf is really satisfying
econ is useless right now, its a fresh game have fun with it.
this guy is delusional, ye rarity is a useless stat just as he says thats why this guy is as rich as empyrian. I hate people who look for a topic they have no knowledge or experience, then spout nonsense on a video trying to convince people just as ignorant as themselves. You want to prove that 100 rarity is as good as 500, then play as much content as empyrian, record your drops , compare them to his. Then arrive to the conclusion that rarity is useless and that people like him are doing it wrong and you actually know how to make currency.
I make alot of currency because I have been poe1 for 10 years and play the game ALOT. There for I understand how to make currency. Sorry you don't. Thanks for stopping by tho. Empyrean has a shit load of people feeding him income. I do not. I grinded and traded for everything I have. Take rarity away, I still would have acquired the same gear. Why? because I understand how to get it in any economy in poe. Did you not watch the second half of the video?
The point is that 100% rarity which I am running by the way or close to it, still netted 7 raw divs yesterday on stream. but I need 400? No. I guarantee the devs didn't put rarity in place on gear to linearly scale. I am convinced there are diminishing returns. 100% rarity can be fit on almost any build. 400% cannot. THAT is the point im trying to making in the video.
Just play SSF
This video stinks. Everyone who has played trading games know you can flip stuff. In D2, magic find doesnt effect high rune drops. In PoE 2, rariry effects orb drops.
This doesnt have to do with people flipping. Bad video.
Did you watch the video? I specifically mention this. Thanks for the comment.
We need people to learn this. It pains me so much people who alch&go whine about rarity when it's all on their shitty prefix maps and not doing tablets right. Gives rarity a bad name when the problem is somewhere else.
