Thank you for sharing! I travelled to Holland in 1983 (not too far away from me) to visit her concert and listen the music and I still love it. She was very underground that time.
Thank you. This is how it was supposed to be on Chelsea Girl. No strings. Just Nico and guitar. Nico hated the arrangements on Chelsea Girl because of the flute and strings. This version hits me on a whole different level. It's meant to be reflective and melancholy.
She still is! If one is alive for 20 years, and after playing with The Velvet Underground is still considered "underground", then there is something inherently wrong! But I would echo those sentiments and say she still is. I don't think anything has changed in 30yrs. I'm 22, and very very few people of my age know of The Velvet Underground, let alone Nico; only when Perfect Day is played, and this is only down to U2 covering it. It's very sad. Thank you Nico for your beautiful voice. Peace.
Beautiful version and great haunting vocals by Nico. Almost prefer it to her version on Chelsea Girl. Was truly amazed to find out it was written by Jackson Browne when aged 16!
Whatever you go looking for you will find. If you think it is all putrid, that is all you will notice. If you look for the amazing, confident it is there, it will show up.
There is always music out there my friend, you just have to find it, rather like the people in Nico's day had to find her. Laura Veirs? Check her out. I recommend using wikipedia on her discography and then listening to every single one of her songs...starting from early until now. Enjoy.
Great, I'm on the case, listening to Laura Viers. I love finding new stuff..... as a random payback I'll offer you this ua-cam.com/video/KE5jIokJIVs/v-deo.html
Well then, in that case I think I would marry you! :) The hardest thing to find in common with someone when one likes "underground music", is just that!
well said. very well said. i feel as if i have been trying to say that to others as being a fan of "wired shit" according to people at my school-except I could never put it in that that, simple, form
I do not find this sad. It is peaceful. I love Nico's voice. I think she was very unique being a German during the British invasion. I say that because of her accent and look. She's different from Petula Clark. I get lost in this song. I would have liked to have met Nico. I have a feeling this woman would have enjoyed my company because she seemed to have depth. The singing does.
+Nick Serido "Oh everybody likes this 'old stuff'...whatever anybody knows they like it...they don't know it- they don't like it." Nico, however, made no secret of the fact that she disliked this 'old stuff' having not written it herself and disliking the final version of the album it came from- Chelsea Girl.
he estado caminando No hablo mucho estos días.
I would agree somewhat; I feel we in society are in a state of nostalgia, reminiscing about the 80s when in fact it probably was the worst decade overall for music...in terms of real quality mainstream pop. But reiterate that The Velvet Underground weren't the cats whiskers of their day, and nor is any 'real' music. Even The Beatles catered for a market for the most part. It's not say it was bad, but I will agree the quality has diminished.
Well, that depends on how we define these matters now doesn't it :)? I would say that Paloma Faith, Amy MacDonald, Of Monsters and Men, Adele, Goyte and OK Go are good examples, but I'm not sure you would agree. To be honest, this concern with "the world" today is hardly productive and just makes people despide each other. Quality is subjective, if it makes someone else happy, why judge?
there's a lot of really great music out there that's in the same vein as this. You just gotta turn off the Idol and look elsewhere. Check out Joanna Newsom, as a suggestion.
.. but you are assuming that what makes you ill must be poor quality and detestable.. that's quite immature and judging behaviour. I don't live in your country so I can't help you there. But have you never heard Goyte in a shop? Do you live in Buthan?
i don't know how to post it on here but just look for it on youtube. There are many live versions of Jackson Brown playing it and in one he talks about when he wrote it.
Jackson Browne wrote this song and Fairest Of the Season for her debut solo album Chelsea Girls. The then 16 or 17 years old Browne was romantically involved with the 29 year old Nico.
I think her deep voice is absolutely beautiful.
I agree 100X
It shows how good Chelsea Girl could have been without the strings and flute.
I agree
oh God yes!!!@@user-wq2sk3ts3d
I guess that's the version I needed today..
It's so endearing at the end of the song when Nico say "Oh! everybody likes this old stuff"
Love her-tinged with such sadness & regret. Her voice is perfect for the lyrics and sentiments of the song. RIP song bird
I adore Nico.
She was a Nazi
@Yung_Shkreli she's not gonna fuck you
I love Nico so much.....R.I.P.
Nico is my idol😊
Just what I needed this morning
Love Forever and smile ❤
so beautiful and sincere
Love her
My GOD ❤
Thank you for sharing!

She was very underground that time.
Recorded in the Netherlands, great performance
I think that it’s very, very hard to find the right words for Nico...nobody like her ever and never

The Chelsea Girl version is also very melancholic... perhaps a bit less reflective
great sound of the guitar and nico's downer voice

Thank you Nico for your beautiful voice. Peace.
Hands-down, she does the best cover of Jackson Browne’s classic tune.
It's not really a cover. He wrote it for her and then did his own version later on.
RIP ❤️
Nico, i love you!!!
Such a Beautiful Haunting Voice. XX
Beautiful
NICO R.I.P. XXXOOO

I hope so, brother. I’m tired of being a putrid man and losing people I love. Hope you are well after all these days.
best performance ever
SWEET SOUND! lm
NICO(RIP), lm
This is such a great version! Thanks for sharing-its interesting how much deeper her voice is compared to the version on 'Chelsea Girl'!
M.McLoughlin This is a great song & this version is my favorite-I can't help but feel it.
It makes me feel it's OK to be human.
❤.
Thank you for posting
I love this song can't get it out of my head
and Nico covers it so wonderful
I love you Nico
R.I.P.
Beautiful !!!
Awesome 👌
😍😍😍
Thank you for this gem,a total discovery for me.BEAUTIFUL!!!

I love this version so much.
Sounds identical to the released version! What a beautiful naturally talented singer. Such an amazing woman to look up ti❤️
lol wtf, it sounds nothing like the released version, that’s what makes it so interesting.
Astonishing! Thank you
Wow what a masculine voice!
Привет из России. Люблю Нико
Dutch woman / radio hostess speaking before the song begins… 🌠❤️🔥🌠
Holy shit
I've something in my eye.
Frankly, I don't see how this makes anyone happy. Just seems to make you happy be being "better", terribly sad.
Damn.
is this painfull to listen you say? Listen again.
❤
♡♡♡💀.

Hello. Do you also have the complete radio session? Hope to hear.

what do you guys think she's saying at the end of the song?
Nick Serido It sounds like 'Oooh everybody likes the old stuff.' After that I'm not sure.
Nick Serido she says 'they like it cause they know it - everybody likes what they know' I'm paraphrasing.

This song was written by the one and only Jackson Browne
I am the same age

yeap, but Nico made it cool. And wrote things far above that great song
??
there's a lot of really great music out there that's in the same vein as this. You just gotta turn off the Idol and look elsewhere. Check out Joanna Newsom, as a suggestion.
it seems to be pitched down two half notes?
Well... that is not really true either.
lol
Okay so she can’t play it like it’s recorded and sing it at the same time either. Thank god because I was going insane trying
The Royal Tenenbaums.
This was a woman? Wow!
.. but you are assuming that what makes you ill must be poor quality and detestable.. that's quite immature and judging behaviour.
I don't live in your country so I can't help you there. But have you never heard Goyte in a shop? Do you live in Buthan?
this definitly is slowed down, Sounds terrible! It is not her real voice!!!
it's from 83? I'm sure her voice had lowered a bit by then. Besides Glen Campbell did a better cover.
Nico was awful
Sounds like she is deaf. Oh she is? Never mind.
Sounds like you are Dennis. Your name sounds like you’re 80, I’m not expecting a reply since you’re probably in the ground.
@@haleyt3754 You're close.
The worse cover of These Days. Painful to listen to.
+LUCY CESARI Actually, Browne wrote it with/for Nico. So I wouldn't call it a cover.
+Deborah Douglas No. I don't think so. It is a cover. Jackson Browne tells that he wrote it when he was 16 years old.
1one2twoeyesonyou
so please post the original version

Drake did it better
