No, Villeneuve has no right to harshly make criticism of other drivers, he won a championship and Frank Williams saked him when Villeneuve's ego made him believe he was that good. He never achieved anything after that. His last team in F1 ended up sacking him too because of his crappy performance, so...🤷‍♂️

He wasnt wrong about his struggles but he said hes hasnt been fast in 5 years and his opinion of his time at redbull and renault were basically fabricated lies daniel came into a car that was a championship winning car the yr prior and comfortably beet the raining world champion in the same car his battle with max was good but 8 dnfs hide the true comparison. The 2 years at renault he demolished ocon and halk. Yes his current form isnt what it used to be (bar miami, Canada and china) but the guy qualified less then .2 a lap off pole in a car .4 (at best) slower.

Perhaps Jacques has a short memory regarding his own F1 career. After winning the 1997 WC, he never again achieved the same level of success in F1. In 2005, when top F1 teams showed no interest in signing him, he struck a deal with the small Sauber team, mostly to assist the team by using his name to secure new sponsors. After poor performances with Sauber in 2005, he was released from his contract before the end of the 2006 after BMW had purchased the Sauber team and were unimpressed with his driving during the season.

Villeneuve was a contender for the title at his F1 rookie year.
He could have won more titles in F1 but Williams did not bring a competitive car in 1998 after the new F1 rulings. After, he chooses to be part of the BAR adventure, hence fulfilling his father’s dream of creating, like Bruce McLaren, his own stable.
He had offer from McLaren and would have never accepted to sign with Ferrari as long as Schumacher was in the team and thus being forced by contract to not challenge and let win Schumacher ( see Irvine and Barrichello … ).
Jacques got richer with BAR but it costed him racing results.
So, he could have had better results and stats but the timing wasn’t perfect, like so many great drivers like Alonso, Raikonnen, Vettel … Not to forgot his choice to join BAR.

@@user-ue9js1tz9v Yes, I agree Villenenve was an outstanding driver and could have won multiple WCs if he did not join the BAR team. He is one of only five drivers to win the Indy 500 and F1 WC! An amazing feat. My point is that as his results suffered later in his career at Renault and Sauber, he continued racing, and this is what he is being so critical of Ricciardo for doing. He seems to be outspoken on so many occasions instead of allowing his performance as a great driver to be his legacy as his father did.

@@user-ue9js1tz9v He never won again because he was never that good (for F1 standards). The Williams car gave him the upper hand, it was the best car at the time, after he won the championship and went to Frank Williams to ask for a champion payment, Frank was having none of it and told him to go be a champion elsewhere.😂
Also Irvine and Barrichello were not contractually obligated to not challenge Michael, it's not like they were as good as him anyway... Ferrari, historically, has always had a #1 driver and #2 driver very well defined, where the #2 is always required to assist the #1. Michael was clearly the #1 so he had priority.

      LOL!
He never won again because he never had again the car to do it.
Like so many great drivers like
      Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton …
Just say you hate Villeneuve but you can’t say that he wasn’t good enough.
      Thanks for the laugh!!! 🤣

Ricciardo took Lauda's advice - winning at slowest possible speed - only to change winning from collecting salary - at slowest possible speed

Villeneuve is only saying what a lot of people think. Is Riccardo ever going find a car which "suits" his style of driving? He's running out of teams to sell that fairy story to.

Jacque's an ass period. Ricciardo Has his place in F1 and is one of the best to do it. His poor career choices led him down a path of winless team/streak and will always play in a racing driver's mind. Nevertheless He belongs. If Jacques Villeneuve was Jacques Tremblay, he would never even have touched a Formula one car. As a French Canadian I remember cheering him up and hating Schumacher for his move on him at Jerez. Without taking what he accomplish away, if you put Schumacher in that Wiliams in 97, I estimate he would have won 15/16 races and Villeneuve would not even be close to challenging him. Jacques did good in Indy, had a memorable Indy 500 race, one of the best rookie season formula has seen and won the 97 world championship. Then chose to become an ass to everyone else... He can try to polarize all he wants, but all he got was a 5 minutes of broadcast that will be forgotten by the public next week. The drivers on the other hand, will not, and as a media personality, good luck getting interviews and inside scoop in the future.

Hold on, Jack won the Indy 500 the and the Indy car world championship before moving to F1. Jack won the F1 championship in his second year at Williams in a season long battle with arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time in Schumacher. I like Ricciardo, I want him to do well. I don't know why Jack said what he said, but he is well within his right to say so. Daniel couldn't even dream of a weekend that Jack lived for 4 years every season. Not to mention his formula atlantic run before Indy car. Not to mention ovals out the ass and the era in the US? Circuit du Villeneuve etc!

I would have said that a couple of months back but Tsunoda has upped his game. I think he and Lawson would be pretty even. Tsunoda should be in the Red Bull and Perez should be... well... somewhere else.
