This video focuses on me building the base for my new farmhouse-style dining table. Everything in this project was constructed from basic construction-grade material. I didn't go into too much detail about building the top, but I'll leave a link to a video that I found super helpful when making the breadboard ends.

Absolutely amazing work!
Thanks for the video. Looks really good.
Nice work with lots of good tips!
Thanks for sharing,
DC
Awesome! Sooo beautiful. Great job helping Leah😍
I couldn't have tightened those clamps without her!
Nice work Tim, love seeing these projects!
Thanks Matt!
Beautiful work, dude! Really well done! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you, you too!
Well done Tim! And great job on the video edit. Super clean!
Thank you! Definitely spent more on than the edit than usual haha, appreciate you noticing the work there!
Nice work!! Came out great!
Oh, and maybe pass along to Mommy that she did a great job, not you. Haha. That was too cute!
Thanks! Haha, I will. When your 2 year old says something, it's the truth!
Nice table! And video
Thanks Pops!!
Hey man, well done. few thoughts:
That traditional joinery can be a real challenge, but hats off to you for going for it!
I definitely understand trying to find the balance of entertaining content vs. overwhelming detail, its a tough one for sure.
Considering the lumber prices these days, you may have been able to get away with a (arguably) higher quality of wood species for the piece haha. Dimensional lumber is insane right now!
Solid Vid!
Thanks! Yeah the mortise and tenon was definitely tricky for me on this project, hid a few frustrations in the edit. Also, for hardwood, you're probably right, but the closet store for me is over an hour away and only open 9-5 during the week. Tough to get there when I have a full-time job!
@@CasualBuilds yeah, that’s definitely a less than ideal window.

Awesome work. I'm going to be attempting one of these in the near-ish future, and this gave some great ideas -- especially the solution to not having clamps long enough.
Only question is on the use of softwood for the top -- have you noticed significant scratching or denting? That's my fear, but pretty hardwood is so expensive...
Hahaha, as soon as I used the planer/jointer calling it a beginner project went out the window. I haven't noticed anything yet, but then again, we still don't have chairs so it hasn't been used much. I envision it will get dinged up a bit, but not too worried about that.
Good Lord man….how tall are you!? Lol Awesome build by the way!
Lol, I'm 6'1, ceiling is very low in my workshop.
what is “z-clips‘ used for? for stable?
They are used to secure the table top to the base.
Are you worried about the breadboard ends having seasonal expansion? The quick overview didn’t look like you gave to much space for movement. I would hate to see that beautiful top crack after it’s first year.
I'm not too worried. There was some room to move side to side in the mortises and I used a file to widen the holes in the tenons for the outer dowels. I actually finished the top 2 months ago and I haven't seen anything that should have me worried yet.
ARE THERE ANY VIEDOS THAT WE WHO DO NOT HAVE A COPLETE WOOD SHOP CAN USE TO MAKE A TABLE OR ANYTHNG ELSE!!????
Yes there are. Check out Modern Builds.
Those things are called trestles.
Ahh yes, thank you!
