- The day has come to finally put the LS1 / T56 combo in the green Camaro.
I am in the process of swapping the L36 V6 and automatic transmission out of my 1998 Camaro for an LS1 / T56 out of a 1999 donor.
People used to say this swap wasn't worth wasting the money on even 5 years ago but with the prices of a V8 model getting higher and higher it makes alot of sense. Plus a good condition V8 is becoming a collectors item. Great video though.
Seeing less and less true ls1's these days let alone still in a f-body. most were abused and swapped in a 5.3 or sold overprice to some old guy who just wanted to tell people the motor in his resto-mod is outta a t/a. lol I yanked mine and saved for my boat at 200k but still healthy mostly only tore car down cause needed new trans since f-bodys got a shitty shift fork and lost 3rd. other then that and the half dozen blown 10 bolt rear-ends my 99' has been extremely reliable for almost 20yrs and I literally beat the living shit outta her every weekend when it was my daily.
Would this be the same for a 408 stroker/t56 combo? Was in a 99 z28..
how did you wire the ignition to get the engine to crank by key
I’m doing the same swap. Far as the clutch master go how do you determine the whole in the firewall?
Sorry for seeing this so late, you can check my build thread here for some more info on when I cut the firewall hole, but the best way I found was to mount the new pedal set and trace out the hole that way.
