Great video as usual, I like your idea of removing the entire bezel if the clips are stuck. Those radio removal tools are surprisingly hard to find, I tried two parts stores before I gave up and used a coat hanger lol.
Yep, 4 nails work in the same way. Really whatever can push the clips, I've used 4 picks in the past from Harbour Freight. Likely less expensive than purchasing the actual tool.
Thank you for the feedback, greatly appreciated :) I bought mine years ago when I had the VW. I think it came from Best Buy and was under $10. I used little electronic's screwdrivers in the past for Ford specifically, VW used slots instead though.
Hoping you will see this comment (question): When you show the removal of all the plug-ins from the rear of the stereo unit, there is a wire harness (over by the antenna plug) that is not attached to anything. Would you know what this harness is for? I have an '04 Ranger, and, while installing a new stereo (w/help from another of your videos--THX!), I noticed this unused harness/plug and wondered what the heck it might be. Liked and subbed.
Thank you for the support! Some vehicles are prewired for more options than what they currently have. Sometimes it’s cheaper to have one generic harness from the factory than multiples. I’m not sure what the harness is with seeing it, but it could be for steering wheel controls, a cd changer, climate control, etc.
@@4DIYers thank you! By the way, I linked this video in a Reddit comment in the subreddit r/fordranger. I told them it was a great help to me, w/lots of great tips!
I have this same exact car and radio, I made a burnt CD, and it keeps saying Error. But when I put other cd in the CD player it can play. I need help, why does it always say error when o put mine in ?

No problem! Not sure if you've found the link, but the Android installation is here ua-cam.com/video/PnvpkNEMuz0/v-deo.html

First comment. Thanks for the help man, I'm always working on my '00 5-speed 2w.dr., and these videos are life savers.
Awesome to hear, thank you so much for the feedback :)
I have the same vehicle. ‘00 Ford ranger 2WD… do you have any idea how to replace the antenna?
Nicely done.

You'll most likely need to burn it as a music cd where you'll only have about 16 songs per disc.
What's the 12 volt output for? I already got a Cigarette Lighter on the other side...
Same as the cigarette lighter port.
