wow. her facial expressions are so perfect.. if you notice the first "I love him"s, she sings them kind of bawdy.. like "you bet ur butt i love him".. then.. right before the last set of "i love him"s...she kind of looks away and realizes... "oh my god.. i really do love him " , and then of course, that last sweet note. What a great performer.
Wow, how amazing is Kristen Chenoweth? Short people rule! And this song is great, she makes it her own and it's so much fun to watch. I hope we can always hear more of her!
Kids, remember, Mary Martin played a 12 year old boy (Peter Pan) on Broadway and then TV (twice) when she was pushing 50. It's the energy... the talent... the brilliance of such a dynamic stage performer. Kristen is in that mold.
WOW - I cannot believe y'all are actually arguing on wether or not this is Kristin. This appearance is from Friday, Oct 1, 1999 on The Rosie O'Donnell Show - it was the very first time I ever saw Kristin. The song is not from a musical, but is very popular on the cabaret scene and was written by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. (btw, I sing the response 2 this on my youtube channel).
i still think she was beautiful here... oh yeah, I wrote a script for this song, which I'll be producing later, maybe this year, or the next year, or so on... It's mostly in the pre-production stages right now. Can't wait to get started on this project. Since there was no official music video, other than these live performances, I might as well make an independent one.
This wasn't in a musical -- It's just a song that was written for a theatrical performer, much like "Alto's Lament". I was in a play with a woman who's best friends with the writer of the song, Marcy Heisler, and supposedly she's writing a response song for Taylor to sing about Carol.
@SultrySole I have no idea if Kristin has had "work" done or not .. but she is very open about her use of botox. Not for cosmetic reasons, but because of her debilitating headaches.
She looks different, but pretty. This is probably around the time she starred in "Annie", because the eyebrows are the same, and she looks different there too. She looks like the Tiffany doll in the Child's Play series with Jennifer Tilly. LOL
Lol! That is Kristen. The reason she says her name is Carol is because that's the name written into the piece. If you watch other people sing this song, you will see.
It's the completely unvarnished Kristin in this one. Makeup, dental makeovers, boob jobs (not that she had one) is new. This is how people were before the Perfection Standard was hoisted. Kristin is just great no matter what. So there!
lol i thought she played the show and her name was carol in that show/musical/play/whatever and she says it here like in the musical and at the other vid she was just like 'im here for singing a song because i rock ;D!' lol
Um, yeah. This is DEFINITELY Kristin Chenoweth. She appeared on the Rosie O'Donnell show to sing this. She didn't have any work done. Not only do I speak authoritatively on this (as I watched and recorded this version and have it on VHS), but it is also not from a musical, but her album, "As I Am". Notice her facial expressions and compare them to her other performances of the song. That should put a lid on the nonsense talk.
This one's worth watching mostly because it's the early version that helped make the song famous, but you should definitely watch the later version posted by likeanepiphany ... her hair's awful in that one, but her delivery is much more relaxed and natural and the song's that much more charming as a result.
where is her operatic voice here its an okay performance i remember seeing this so long ago when i was a fan before she had a big fan base because of wicked
she was much younger here i wonder when she changed it form carol to kristin i know its on her second album she looks healthy here because she is a little bigger now on pushing daisies she looks to skinny but i will always love her no matter what and also she is a much better actress now
she's not, she says "fine and my names carol" so she's meant to be someone called carol, in another song i heard her syaing kristin and she looked just fine lol
she was much younger here i wonder when she changed it form carol to kristin i know its on her second album she looks healthy here because she is a little bigger now on pushing daisies she looks to skinny but i will always love her no matter what
Cheno is awesome! The version of this from lieanepiphany is a better performance... I'll bet this one was done before and she improved her performance... She's much more coy in the other version. There is nothing wrong with her teeth... Watch her in the movie "RV", or "Deck The Halls" - She is awesome and should be a much bigger star than she is...
She may look "different" but she's still WAY gorgeous! And I know you guys weren't saying she's not, I'm just clarifying. Lol. But I think she looks dif. because of her hair [which is also still gorgeous! lol]. But they should make a movie out of this... And she should star in it! Haha, DUUUUDE, that would be AWESOME! They would make a lot of money, too! Everyone loves a good chickflick. =]
funny you say that... she was just on megan's show recently. halag... i'm sure i speak for everyone when i say i would LOVE to see you sing it better. and if it "makes your ears bleed" then why were looking at kristen chenoweth at all??
Oh thank goodness; I thought it was just me. I try to avoid making disparaging remarks about Chenoweth, but I was watching this one and my brother comes in and goes, "wow, it looks like someone hit her in the mouth and knocked a tooth out" (from approximately 2:25-2:43). I wouldn't exactly call her "ugly" ^, but I wouldn't say that this was a flattering video either. But it doesn't matter what she looked like then because she is absolutely stunning now.
i think the makeup (and lipstick on the teeth or blacked out bottom of tooth?) is supposed to be part of the character, its obvious she isnt supposed to simply be kristin.
oh wow omg that is a costume, thank god, i was like HOLY CRAP WHEN DID KRISTIN GET FATTER AND UGLIER??? lol (its obvi her tho b/c of that unmistakable voice)
I love this song, but this version isn't as good as some of the other ones, or the track on the CD. I miss the bridge and the very last chorus that starts with the high note. Those parts must have been added in later, I guess... Still, one of my favorite songs.
Yes, you are right, she must have done something to her forehead... It is sad that even such immensly talented people feel that they need cosmetic surgery in order to stay on top. This is a weird world.
I keep coming back to this video (guess that's why it's in my favorites). My God, what a voice this woman has. She's incredibly versatile, too.
Much love for Cheno! ^_^ She's splendid! I love how she combines her actions with her face and voice so well!
She is amazing. She has a great voice and is a very talented singer and actress. I LOVE the song!
She is so freaking adorable and talented! I love her!!!
wow. her facial expressions are so perfect.. if you notice the first "I love him"s, she sings them kind of bawdy.. like "you bet ur butt i love him".. then.. right before the last set of "i love him"s...she kind of looks away and realizes... I just know that song of her & I love it
She`s Great!
Thanks RandomlyMindless, you made my day!!! :D
when i first saw her i was like "is that really kristin?" but once i heard her singing there is no mistake. luv her version of this song!
I know, but she's absolutely amazing
i totally agree!
This was like 5 years ago. Yeah, she looks super young!
wow what a difference from then and now!
Lovely :]
Kids, remember, Mary Martin played a 12 year old boy (Peter Pan) on Broadway and then TV (twice) when she was pushing 50. It's the energy... the talent... the brilliance of such a dynamic stage performer. Kristen is in that mold.
THis song is older than I thought it was!!
She was in Wicked!
LOL i love it wen she makes funny faces
I saw this when it originally aired. It's Kristin.
She's older now. Hence why she looks different. Sheesh. She's still incredibly beautiful and talented !
yeah i agree with you

HAHAHAHA!!! IF it wasn't for her unmistakable voice I wouldn't know it was her. She looks a lot like Jewel here.
i still think she was beautiful here...

Cheno enchants with her voice, as always.
I don't know who I like singing this better, Kristin or Susan Egan..
How long ago was this filmed?
This wasn't in a musical -- It's just a song that was written for a theatrical performer, much like "Alto's Lament". I was in a play with a woman who's best friends with the writer of the song, Marcy Heisler, and supposedly she's writing a response song for Taylor to sing about Carol.
Wasn't it in the musical "Adventures in Love"? ... it's a fairly unknown musical.,.. around 2000, i think it came out
Definately.
@SultrySole I have no idea if Kristin has had "work" done or not .. but she is very open about her use of botox. Not for cosmetic reasons, but because of her debilitating headaches.
she looks so young here!
she's so silly - in a good way. :)
Thank you for the extra foam
This is how she originally sang it. She seems to have sped it up a little on her album...
For a minute, I didn't think that was Kristin. It didn't look much like her at first. Aahhh, but her trademark voice!
eyebrows. lol. Where can I find Susan Egans version (video i mean) I love bother versions so much.
She looks different, but pretty. This is probably around the time she starred in "Annie", because the eyebrows are the same, and she looks different there too. She looks like the Tiffany doll in the Child's Play series with Jennifer Tilly. LOL
on the Cd she says kristin not Carol
This is an insanely old video!
Lol! That is Kristen. The reason she says her name is Carol is because that's the name written into the piece. If you watch other people sing this song, you will see.
Was this before, during, or after Wicked?
It's the completely unvarnished Kristin in this one. Makeup, dental makeovers, boob jobs (not that she had one) is new. This is how people were before the Perfection Standard was hoisted. Kristin is just great no matter what. So there!

omg what year was this?
That eyebrow!!
question... why does she say that her name is carol ??

it's from a musical :-)
It is the makeup. They defeintly made her look sexy in this.
Older clip than LLS. She put her own name in by then.
How old is this song?
No, this was in reply to a rude person who said that she had a nose, teeth, facelift job.
Sing this at him and see if he gets creeped out. Just for the heck of it.
where is her operatic voice here its an okay performance i remember seeing this so long ago when i was a fan before she had a big fan base because of wicked

Im pretty sure it was before.
the tempo's really slow ey!? i love her and love the song tho!

Mmm this song is written by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich actually =)
both*
i think the makeup (and lipstick on the teeth or blacked out bottom of tooth?) is supposed to be part of the character, its obvious she isnt supposed to simply be kristin.
This is not Kristin because she sings "My name is Carol"...!
is she wearing leather pants?
I could swear this is not Kristin!
haha i know. no one can fake her voice. :)
She was a little but 'plumper' then... Not that she was ever plump. It's just the obsession with being a twig. But she's still amazing either way.
its not a song its a poem musical didnt you listen to the lyrics
I'm sorry, but that must have been a LONG time ago bc that looks very little like Kristin now.
oh wow omg that is a costume, thank god, i was like HOLY CRAP WHEN DID KRISTIN GET FATTER AND UGLIER??? lol (its obvi her tho b/c of that unmistakable voice)
you can tell that this is early in Kristin's career. Her voice doesn't seems like it needs some development.
I'd say the hair. It looks a lot different.
I'd laugh if at the end she sung "But only on my own" (Les Mis if ya don't know) ^_^
has anyone noticed something wrong with her teeth? on her left side
cheno in leather pants...HOTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
hahha, KC sure does enjoy wearing her leather pants huh? SEXY!
You guys are so funny. Those are her original teeth pre dental work....
I love this song, but this version isn't as good as some of the other ones, or the track on the CD. I miss the bridge and the very last chorus that starts with the high note. Those parts must have been added in later, I guess... Still, one of my favorite songs.
yeah, that's really weird. Like she's missing part of her tooth, or there's something on it.
uugh, I hate how people think she had work done. Peoples faces change. Only thing I think she had done, was some dental work, geez people.
Kristin looks really different here for some reason...
Yes, you are right, she must have done something to her forehead... It is sad that even such immensly talented people feel that they need cosmetic surgery in order to stay on top. This is a weird world.
and her eyebrows are really THIN here, lol
is it just me or does she look a little odd in this? but other than that awesome pants! whoo leather! ^_^
She doesn't look like herself in this, and her voice sounds like someone doing an impersonation of her...
i dont think it is
woe.. this doesnt look like cheno! i dont kno why.. it sounds like her but it doesnt look like her... hmm..
wat a cute poem musical...she looks gorgeous, but her lipsticks wayy to darkk..
you got nerve, buddy.
is that kristen? dont bite my head off- maybe she just was made over to NOT look like herself... x
or she's wearing a LOT of makeup
For stating the obvious? Oh, how awful of me.
Nose, teeth, botox, facial lipo, maybe a mini facelift...
I've a solution for you: Don't watch her videos. Aha! ;)
