- Tested the claims that DJI is making for ActiveTrack 6.0 for the DJI Osmo 6/SE gimbals. Pretty much does what they say with the exception of auto pan/zoom out to regain lost tracking. Here’s the sections if you want to skip ahead:
0:00 Intro
0:33 How to get ActiveTrack 6.0
1:12 Obstructed subject
2:05 Max subject distance
2:14 Subject turning/tilting their head
2:39 Tracking while zooming in/out
3:02 Joystick use while tracking to pan subject off-center
3:42 Auto pan/unzoom to refollow when tracking lost
4:11 Vertical tracking

Wow, this was the best, most succinct review I needed on ActiveTrack 6.0. I hit the subscribe button when grandpa risked it all and climbed that ladder.
Grandpa appreciates your support :-)
But i really wanna know how active track works, when something is in faster movement. Like an rc drift car for example… no one does a review for this…
Maybe someone knows: how it works in faster conditions? When the object is moving bit faster. Does anyone know?
Great video, thanks! Is the tracking as good in portrait mode as in landscape?
Thanks Tora. Yes, tracking is unaffected by portrait/landscape orientation as long as the subject stays in-frame.
Great job with this. I am thinking about getting this for filming my sons youth basketball games. I wonder if it will ever update to have ball tracking? Or if I set it to track only him it might be ok.
I think it will have problems with basketball - too many people, too fast.
Excellent video. Thanks!
ActiveTrack is an App feature, not so much a Gimbal feature, the Mimo App do the hard work and it just send coordinates via BT to the dumb gimbal.
With the Mimo App 1.9.0 or newer, all DJI Osmo Mobile gimbals from version 3 now have ActiveTrack 6!
Kudos to DJI since it is rare when manufacturers allow enhancements to older products.
Would be nice to see if there is a tracking performance difference between OM6 and previous generations, if there is, it is probably induced.
Also, the Smartphone processing power and camera makes some difference as well.
Yes, to get 6.0 you need to update both the gimbal firmware and Mimo. DJI released this in lieu of an OM7.
what a nice voice and nice review I even click the like button 🩵 GOD bless Sir
Hey, thanks so much Yohan!
yeah this video is great
Thanks Justin!
By far the best video on this subject. The only test that I can't seem to find anywhere is tracking things that go quite fast. I want to use active tracking to film myself skateboarding, but I'm going to be passing close to the camera at sprinting speeds, and I'm afraid the tracking won't be able to keep up, so I don't know whether I should make the investment. In your experience with this technology, do you think it would be worth it, or would I be wasting my money?
Hard to know, depends on distance, etc. tracking speed seems pretty limited though.
@@KurtPapke thank you for the quick reply!
Osmo 6 tracking for sports pls. A basketball game or soccer game ?.can it still track the subject ?
Agreed - need a test of how fast the subject can move and still be tracked as well as getting lost in a crowd of people (athletes in a game).
Can a dji action camera be attached or only a phone?
I have not done it, but this video shows a way using an adapter: ua-cam.com/video/ajWKt7PxjqQ/v-deo.htmlsi=ntyapOAwjg4NiJds
