Huge thank you! This totally fixed our fridge- same model as this one 1617 and everything. Thank you so much. $98 for the board on Amazon it was up and running the next day.
I have a Whirlpool GI5SVAXVL01 refrigerator and this video showed exactly what I found coming home one day. After unplugging a few times and trying combinations of buttons, I found this video and ordered the part. But then, the next morning, the refrigerator was somehow working again. It was soon enough that I was able to cancel the order. It was still reassuring to find a video showing exactly my problem and how to fix it!
Update: Four months later the problem returned. I noticed that the refrigerator seemed to be working, but the lights were blinking and the refrigerator was repeatedly whirring and stopping. I unplugged it for 10 minutes. When I plugged it back in it wasn't working and the display quit working, like in the video and four months ago. I wonder if it will resume working again on its own, or if I'll order the part again.
I had same issue on my whirlpool (same model that you have shown in the video). I ordered the board on amazon and installed it. Your video was super usefull and I like how you explained every step in detail. Keep it up.

I found a new board for under 140 dollars and just fixed the fridge myself. used all the serial numbers on the board and fridge, and the one on amazon photo to make sure i got the correct one.

After installing the board there was no PE0000 it was 038 and then it was programmed to 2322. I programed it as you showed on the video to 1617 and TADA, we now have a working fridge again. Thanks for all you share and do.

Also, other buttons aren’t working properly but they never did. I thought it was the control panel but after replacing the control panel the button still do not work the way they’re supposed to. For instance, I can go down on the refrigerator temperature, but I can’t go back up, but on the freezer side, I can go up and down and the water button still doesn’t work, but the ice button works

I ordered a new board and installed it but it doesn’t do anything. The board that was in it allowed the front panel to light up but you could hear the little relays clicking but it wouldn’t kick on the compressor. I changed the plug and everything on the compressor and still nothing.

I have this problem and same model fridge. I ordered the board and the day the baord showed up my refrigerator started to work. I returned the part and had zero issues. Until today. My fridge has the same exact symptoms as before and discussed in this video. Any insight as to why this might be an intermittent logic issue and not a board issue? Will replaceing the baord be a total fix or will i have the joy of ordering another $120 board in the near future?

My display is doing the same thing here and there, and then works again...but my compressor is running. Does that still mean it's the main board?

I replaced both boards and the touch part. Mine will cool with the original board but display is blank 8888 when i press any button.. I cannot figure this out. Is there a way to force a reset. New board does nothing same 8888 when I press any button. Water dispenser beeeps when I press where the cup would go.. 600 bucks I should have just replaced the whole thing

My model GS2SHEXNL00 Whirlpool stops running when I open the door. I unplug the unit from the power then plug back in and it starts running again. I open the door it stops again. What do you think the problem is?
Mine was doing nothing and then after about 10 hours it started short cycling and then gave up. Is it still likely the board? Or is it probably something else?
Like 3 or 4 others in the comments, there are times the board starts working for no reason, but when it's not working it has the exact same symptoms as in the video and the board looks exactly the same, and the display lights up when pressing any button on the front, and these is no sign of life except the interior lights come on. I replaced the board and it's acting the same. Was I sent a bad board that someone snuck in a return to the supplier? Or is the display aka front control board bad? I could not find any bad capacitor or diode on either board, but testing in circuit is not 100%.

I have a whirlpool gold series wrf990slam00 Sequential evaporator the display numbers aren't showing bright can't make out any numbers but every other lights and icon are being displayed on the display I am able to run through the codes but I cant see the numbers clearly can this be the main control board or is it the display board
It's possibly main board, depending on age of fridge your LED panel could be worn out. But go to Amazon w/board #, order your board. If it doesn't fix your issue, send board back. Quick and easy troubleshoot technique. You atleast eliminate one issue and you'll get your money back for returned board.

Call sears. They will give you correct number. I'm going through this now. I'm an Electronics tech so, I know I'm replacing it myself. Lol Not calling a tech for a 15 minute job for him/her to say... that'll be $650!

@Jason Williams how's it going? I'm servicing a Kenmore Elite right now. Customers display board is becoming unresponsive, but all the fans are running and compressor. Should I focus on the Main PCB or the display control board?

I've asked that question here but got no response. I was told by a older Electronics tech, unless you have the equipment to test board while still in the fridge, it's hard to do. Easier to replace board than try to repair it. I'm thinking cheaper too. Amazon board will cost me $134.00
