I just got back home today from my trek. The 50L was the perfect size for me because I packed light. Otherwise, if you want to take a bit more the 65 would be great but I'd have to be a strong fella like you to lug it around ;)

It’s a great pack. I would counter that the Dueter Futura Vario 50+10 is at least its equal. Can’t go wrong with either.
How many liters of capacity is the top lid? I mean, if you take it off, the backpack becomes a 40 lt backpack?

I'm always highly sceptical of any rucksack that lacks decent side pockets. One of the most important features a rucksack should have in my opinion.
