I will admit, I thought Bun E. was the King of the whole wide world for ages & didn't wanna accept anyone new anymore, since the original CT got back together in the late 80s.. but this particular show he fits like one of Buns old gloves. Well done young man!! I would like to believe that Brad was so much a part of the family they couldn't replace him with anyone other than blood.👍

A friend bought us In Color around that time. I did not understand what power pop was then. But I immediately took to that album. Also, they were the first concert without my mother, and the first show I was old enough to drive to. This was September 4, 1978 at Kiel Opera House in St. Louis. The show included UFO, Cheap Trick, and Savoy Brown. I've been going to Cheap Trick shows ever since--last year most recently. I'm 61 now. Time passes quickly. Robin still has his voice which is quite amazing.
Time sure does fly by my first Cheap Trick concert was in 1979 at the old international amphitheater in Chicago. They played three nights in July. I can’t even remember who the opening act was but Cheap Trick was awesome that’s cool that you got to see UFO with cheap trick UFO is one of my favorite bands. Also I seen them five times, unfortunately I didn’t get to see Michael Shanker with him.
I saw just about every rock band ...late 70-90s from AC/DC to Zebra ... these guys are the top 5 best live performers. They dont play 'She's Tight' anymore?
They do. They’ve played it during the two other times I’ve seen them this year. One of the great things of having a large catalogue of great songs is that they can pick and choose.

Great video. Interesting how they have evolved over the years. Started off as a Midwest band, small clubs. Then Butokan (sp?) Big stadiums! Then I saw them at small clubs in Dallas in the mid eighties. Now back on top at stadiums again!😂
To see these guys continue to perform at their age is powerful to see. Just saw them 2-16-2024. A little funny to see them go back stage to hit the oxygen tanks once in a while.
Yes. Bun E. is the best. The band is weird without him. We once saw them in Rockford at an annual event. Two very old people were in attendance. This was maybe 20 years ago, maybe longer than that. The old couple turned out to be Bun E's parents. His mom jumped a row of chairs and hung out with us for the last half of the show. She was wonderful.
I just adore Rick too! It's too bad his great skills as a guitarist are continually passed-over in Top/Greatest. Rick clearly deserves to be high up in placement on these lists ❤

Robin's voice has been going for 15 years and now it's totally shot. So if Nielsen can use family nepotism to bring in a minor league drummer, then Zander can do the same thing to bring in his own minor league singer.

I’m with you there. But if he did their shows would be way shorter as he himself admits he can’t play for more than 45 minutes at a time. So this is the next best thing.
The brown haired boy is Tom’s son who is disabled. The blonde girl is Robin’s daughter and the rest are in Robin Taylor Zander’s band who opened the show.
I’m sure that a 20-something year old wearing all those clothes and changing all those guitars in 99 degree weather plus humidity would have struggled.

Notwithstanding Bun E Carlos was an excellent drummer with a unique style; but Daxx has brought his own level of greatness to the "skins". Further, I venture to say that many couldn't even differentiate between the two had they not had the "visual". They should be thankful that Cheap Trick continues on making their brand of magic! And having their sons perform with them, is a testament to the talents of the "chips-off-the-old-blocks" !
How about being thankful that Rick is still able to physically hold down a very taxin performance at his tender age? Have you even thought what it takes for anyone to be able to do what Rick Nielsen does? Cheap Trick is a great band live. Seen them many times in Chicago and Florida. Just wish Bun E would come back to the live shows!!
