  • Fun story, had a cabin booked and when we got all moved in the warden came to our cabin and said you've got too many dogs and we got tossed. That was a bummer but, we were able to crash at my place for the opener and we found a pile of birds. That being said the leaves made it tough to get some shots on some great dog work. Hope you enjoy!

great video as always. Dismal numbers this year in my part of the world. Great looking covers there!

Thanks! numbers can fluctuate from year to year in some coverts it takes off season dog work to find them.

Looked like a good time! I have all of next week off and am heading to hunting camp in Potter Co. for muzzeloader and grouse opener. Hopefully I can get my 5 month old GSP exposed to a few wild birds!

Good luck man it take contacts to develop a dog. Have you done gun intro with your pup? Have basic commands established?

@@TheGrouseandTheTrout Yep, I've had him off leash and out in the mountains around home a couple times a week for the past month. He comes when he is called and we've been working with homers and gun introduction. Shot some quail over him this weekend and going to shoot a few more today. He isn't whoa trained or anything like that but using electronic launchers has him fairly steady. I'm hoping to introduce him to wild birds and let the grouse teach him this fall then do more advanced training before next year!

Always love your video's! You do a fantastic job getting on birds here in NY! Me not so much being that i am north on Lake Ontario. If you could pick one type of cover to find birds what would it be? Im extremely new this game and have a hard time trying to figure out where these birds are as most video's out there are either west or east of us.

As far as east and west states I mean for cover is mostly aspen cuts.
