I love Rob's face when Glenn is talking about the Beatles. It's that one friend that loves your rants and when you get mad and so they egg you on until you go on a full blown rant about whatever subject. Pure.
As someone who feels almost exactly the same way about the Beatles as Glenn, I've been egged on to go on exactly this rant at least twice lol

Nah, I feel like the strength of its entertainment is because it’s just them and no one else. Glimpse into their mind kind of thing - and it helps to see them wander around their tangential episode thoughts, whereas I think if they had guests it would get too much into an episode commentary. I like it existing in that in-between space.
Honestly, its the only times one of these haas been made for a show i care about. Love how in depth they get about whatever aspect of the ep they're talking about too, as well as just random side tangents. Such a great podcast
The subtle nuances that audio-only podcast listeners are missing like that tiny glance at the camera Glenn does when Rob says he was starving himself. THIS is why we needed the video podcast.

Many thanks to the Beatles of basic cable late night world for revamping the podcast with video; the ability to watch the subleties and nuances of the gang's comedic chemistry unfolding (reactions, facial expressions and emphases) is priceless and takes me back to the first time having my mind blown and my heart lightened experiencing each episode as the masterpieces were made.
I can't believe Charlie actually bashed rats. That might be the biggest revelation from this entire podcast.

Cause it was so on the nose when the Beatles were their separate way to try and make their own fame not tied to the Beatles; I am sure Glenn was tired of doing the same character in Always sunny for years and didn't want to be known only for Always sunny, but ended up doing the same character on AP bio and the show got cancelled. Charlie became the most mainstream famous out of them. Friction working so closely together for years brings along with animosity and sometimes loathing for your co-workers. It does look like they have a good relationship that at the least they stave off ruining what good they have through jokes and sarcasm.

Rob is John. He created it all. Glenn is Paul. He makes it what it is. Charlie is George. The secret ingredient with the best solo career.
Extending that analogy, Kaitlyn is Ringo: a great performer who can be underestimated, but who’s also the glue that holds things together. And DeVito is George Martin; An older mentor figure whose creative input can be more conspicuous, yet the show wouldn’t be the same without his influence.
George Harrison is so fucking underrated. When they were all claiming to be Paul and hoping to be John, I was just like BUT GEORGE IS THE BEST ONE!

@@Mr2greys I don’t know The Beatles were people modern music onto vinyl records. You need to put yourself back into the sixties, the stuff that was coming out around them usually came 6 months after The Beatles laid it out for other to follow. That’s how The Rolling Stones did it.

The chemistry between these guys is incredible. I genuinely think they might be the most hilarious trio/group in the entertainment industry when they get together.
As good as they are individually, there's a whole other level they reach when they're feeding off each other.
The only people I can compare them to are the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
I don't think three grown men have ever had better chemistry than these three. I LOVE "The Gang" as much as any other dude in his mid to late 30's(who by the way HASN'T EVEN BEGUN TO PEAK YET)but I am still blown away by how fucking relentlessly funny these guys are when they're just ribbing off each other. My fucking sides were hurting within the first 4 minutes. Also I was really stoned.

I love how sometimes you can't tell if they're being themselves or doing a bit, the chemistry between these people is just absolutely amazing to watch all the time

Thank you for doing this! I was going to write the same thing! Love the Kinks. We know they got banned from the US on what was supposed to be their big break in the ‘60s, but I’m almost glad that happened. They are so quintessentially British in their music, especially Ray, and I wonder what would have happened if they became more cosmopolitan . They are so distinctive.

My Grandfather was 26 & asleep aboard his ship, the USS Downes [DD-375], when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
He ran ammo until being ordered to abandon ship when the damaged USS Cassin [DD-372] collapsed on top of the Downes.
He survived the day and the war. We are all very proud.

Yeah man I go through phases about every 4 months where I'm just absolutely obsessed. I'm taking a break from heavily watching the actual series and just watching one or two from time to time, but having this podcast now is something I can definitely look forward to.

I've said it before I'll say it again. There is absolutely no show like Sunny. Nobody has been able to emulate a fraction of what they've accomplished with the show. They are the only ones doing what they are doing and I don't think anyone will be able to ever match up to it. A unique show with a unique and brilliant cast.

I love The Beatles and I definitively agree with Glenn. The Beatles is just the part that instigated the musical revolution in the 60s. There's a lot of bands from the 60s like Velvet Underground and The Zombies that were pushed to the side and only a few years later people realized how influential they were.
i love how he didn't necessarily discredit the beatles' contribution but instead brought to light (a bit) the other overshadowed artists of the time because yeah, i feel like everyone is sick of hearing about the beatles

While Dennis and dee go on welfare was the episode that first got me into the show, this was the episode that got me addicted. I used an iTunes gift card to buy this episode on my iPod video and probably watched it over 300 times in my adolescence. Just an all timer.
Also while Glenn is somewhat right about the Beatles, there is also a reason they are so celebrated. I don’t even know if they were actually the most talented or innovative of that era, but if you connect with the mainstream on such an insane level like that you did something special. I get what he’s saying but from a cultural influence standpoint the kinks don’t even stand a chance.
I actually see a lot of “the Beatles were overrated” takes from teens and I think it’s because so much of what they innovated has become so standard over the years that it’s difficult to see how influential they are. Not to say others didn’t contribute heavily
A lot of people fail to appreciate the sheer volume of content that the Beatles produced while they were together. The band as we know it formed in 1962 (counting from the time Ringo joined) and broke up in 1970.
Everything you've ever heard by the Beatles was produced in that 8 year span.
That's 13 studio albums, 21 EPs, 54 singles (more if you count the ones released post-breakup), and 5 movies.
To have that sort of output and not only keep up your level of quality, but actually continue to improve and innovate on your sound, is incredible. Even you're not personally into their music, I think you should at least respect the amount of work they put into it.
The Beatles changed the landscape of what a pop musician could be: A worldwide phenomenon. Basically Elvis for the world. Anyone who is arguing they are overreated doesn't realize the irony that the Beatles are a household name for a reason, it connected with people and that separates them from almost every other band.

They didn’t do everything
Most of their influence was in things like audio production, editing, etc. I say this as a huge Beatles fan, they aren't the end all be all of musical ability, and they definitely didn't think of themselves as such. Glenn has a good take that can honestly be applied to lots of things that become as popular. The problem isn't really with the Beatles, it's the cult of personality surrounding them.
The fact you friends have created such a classic show! Amazing! You are truly as dysfunctional as the characters you play! Love you guys! 😝 Been a fan since day one!

This podcast is fkn genius. Whether it's the lighter stuff or them talking about what they're grandfather's went thru... these 3 are one the greatest creative teams!!!
Also talking about Air Force, my grandad was a rear gunner and very straight laced. On the way back from a bombing run the crew could hear my grandad was singing which was out of character so they go up to check and a bullet had severed his air line so he was literally suffocating his brain through lack of oxygen due to the altitude they flew at. Amazing story. Also served 3 RAF tours during the war and there literally isn’t figures for people surviving 3 tours. He may very well be the only one

This is the first podcast for me, ever (started from Ep. 1). I was always kinda against listening to folks just shoot the sit for an hour, but they make my comfort show and I fucking LOVE this! Had a feeling about their relationship outside of the show, and the podcast confirmed it. Great job guys!

I really hope that they keep doing this podcast after they get through all of the episodes. They literally have the same conversations and interactions their characters would have, just with respect for one another and patience
The amount of episodes is insane so either way it's a lot of content if they cover them all.
If they stick with it that long, by the time they catch up to the current season, there'll probably be three new seasons to get through.
I mean if we are looking at it like one podcast a week, 10 episodes a season; they are going through 5 seasons a year for the next three years, and then 30 more podcasts based on the seasons that come out during that time. I say we got a ways to go lol
