These boots proved to be really great hiking boots, that would work well for backpacking as well. We hiked up Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. We hiked through different type of terrain and the boots performed great. The boots breathed well even though it was waterproof thanks to the Goretex liner.

I enjoyed every second of that David. Excellent review job hitting all the specs. I'm impressed and although good for now, I know where I'm coming for my next pair. Thank You Pal, .. Mike.
Very nice review. Practical information that one actually needs rather than technical overload.
This review was very well done! Great shots of Zion NP too. Thanks for posting this!
+Will Appleton thank you will I really appreciate that brother!
Really nice review. Thorough and informative, and the scenery was amazing. They look like great boots. Thanks!
+Jon Nelson thank you so much Jon I really appreciate that. I love sharing good gear and talking to outdoors people
Great review. I'm checking out these boots lately. You review was quite helpful.
I love these, still my go to boots for hiking and adventure travel
I have a pair and I love them! I don’t use them frequently hiking but even around town they are great.
Fresking bad ass views Dave wow I have been there as a kid camping but we never hiked there . What an amazing place , great revel on them boots they look great.
thank you brother!
great video!
ahh yes, Angels landing...been a few year now, but yes, a nice hike for sure Thanks David...i have had some success with Lowa...one pair made partially from the nubuck leather tore on the first day while hiking in very rugged terrain...while another Lowa boot different model lasted me several years!
I just retired that pair of boots after walking across Wyoming's great divide basin. I don't remember the model, but they served me well over many miles....the renegade appears well built.
awesome video amigo...woods
+MTwoodsrunner hey brother thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment. I like hearing feedback on the gear, to see if others have a similar experience or not. I’ve learned a lot through the comment section. Thanks brother hope to see ya around!
It looked so epic out there! I bet it was a blast, great job
Thanks brother! It was so much fun, I'm planning my next trip already! lol
Thanks for the info and even more for the amazing views!! Thanks!!
Thank YOU for watching and supporting brother! I threw in a lot of hiking footage because it was so beautiful and just had to share it. Thanks brother you rock!
I've been using the Renegade GTX for a few years now and used them a few weeks ago on both Angels Landing as well as Observation Point on the East Rim. I was concerned about traction on the dry sandstone but they performed very well. There was patchy snow slush on AL and I was able to maintain traction with wet soles. They are certainly ready to hike straight out of the box but my toes do start to slip just a tiny bit when I'm hiking down steep grades yet I've never developed blisters or raw spots. My only complaint is the soles wear rather quickly but I've also worn mine as an everyday shoe. I upgraded to the Lowa Camino GTX today and will be taking them out for their first hike in a few weeks at Guadalupe Mountains NP.
I agree with everything you said 💯. Recently my gf and I went on a quick trip to Colorado and we got a really good deal on a flight, only catch- no luggage, just a small tote or backpack. So we wore our Lowas all over Colorado from the city to the wilderness, from sunny SoCal to the snowy Rockies and my feet were so comfy. I had good wool socks on and played around in the snow all day, never got wet. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I love hearing about others experience with the things I make videos on.
Thanks for the video,my experience was very similar to yours, comfortable straight out of the box, first ever wear was a 63km pack hike,3300 metres of elevation gain, also lots of downhill so potential for toe bang.I couldn’t be happier,I had been a Keen man as I have wide feet, but these performed brilliantly, through a couple of creeks, heaps of heavy rock scrambles bordering on rock climbing, great grip, great stability,no blisters.Very happy so far, time will tell how long they last, but I’m sold.
Thanks for sharing your experience Scott! I’m still love mine and wear them any chance I get. Snow, rain, mud, rocks, etc... I’m actually about to clean them up and condition them. I need to get the waterproofing spray
@@BushcraftDave I’ve just bought a couple of sno seal to thoroughly proof them,I want them to last a fair amount of time,I’m a Lowa convert, previously a Keen wearer.
I’ve heard really good thing about SnoSeal. Please let me know how you like it. Too bad Lowa shoe care products aren’t readily available locally, I’d like to try them
@@BushcraftDave no worries I’ll do that Dave. It’ll likely take a couple of weeks to arrive, then I’ll give it a go.
Great video!
Thank you Sammtha, I worked the hardest on this video. Thanks so much
Great video buddy. And great review
Love these boots! I’m a size 12 and they don’t look like I have boats on my feet. My work boots do however! Lol. I’m getting another pair for work
For 113.00 cant beat that price.
Keep up the good videos buddy!
Dang that’s a great deal! I should do an update on this video, I’ve been wear these boots for travel now too because they are so comfy. They’ve been in the snow, through city sightseeing and in the mountains. Thanks for coming by and leaving me some feedback!
GREAT VID
Thank you so much 👍🙏
"....her feet looking too big"....my wife said the exact same thing when she tried on the Lowa Renegade. She loves hers (red colour) and wore them almost daily over a month long trip in Portugal. Your review has me considering I should get a pair.
Hi Peter! That’s for sharing that story. I went to Colorado and Banff Alberta Canada and I wore my Lowas from the airport to the trails. I walked through streams and through snow. Try them on at a store, you’ll love them 👍.
Hey awesome page ☺ Keep it up!
I appreciate the feedback! 😍
I have two pairs of Renegade boots, I couldn’t be happier with them. The boots are very comfortable and ready to go from the box, no breaking in. I highly recommend them 👍
Yes! My gf took it right from the box and hiked Zion with them
I’m a size 9 in sneakers should I go up half a size? I don’t want my toes all cramped when hiking downhill.
I wear merrells they offer the wider shoes hiking shoes are heavy duty running shoes I will say they make your feet comfortable it is weird to watch the water run over your shoe and your foot doesn't get wet very comfortable looking boots awesome view
GoreTex is awesome isn't it? Dry comfy feet on long hikes, you can't beat that
Epic to say the least.
THAT trail is mind blowing and to think I found your channel when I went to look for paracord strapping ideas for my glasses. Bravo to you, take advantage of your youth like my wife and I did. Now I'm an old man with a complaining old bitty nipping at my heels! Haha..just kidding. Thanks for your videos, pretty damn excellent..
Guy you are a nice and sweet soul, don’t ever change! Are you on Instagram? I’m more active there
@@BushcraftDave Thanks for the words. I'm not on Instagram..but good to meet you here..
your video images were so clear. what camera are you using?
Thank you 🙏 I use a GoPro 5 and an IPhone 6
hello how long this boots last you without damage? How long they stay waterproof like in years? what you use to clean and protect them? thanks a lot
When my Merrell’s bite the dust, I’ll look into these.
I think you’ll like them! I recommend them to friends and family.
Thank you for the share that was a beautiful party was in park the party not the party damn machine and thank you for the shooter
Thank you Ranger Kooky! I love your channel!
What hat are you wearing!? I want something like that for my upcoming trip.
Thanks- Jake
Hi Jacob! Here it is: amzn.to/2MAwoX2. Thanks for watching! I highly recommend the hat. It’s my fav outdoors hat
Wow, that is some steep stuff!
It was pretty sketchy at times, but beautiful. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment brother!
Is there any difference between RENEGADE GTX and RENEGADE GTX MID ? Thank you.
Lowa Renegade Gtx(good allrounder), Zephyr GTX Mid TF (my Winter EDC) and Innox(summer dog walks in dry weather) are my number 1 choice, because of the wide withs.
Martin! We have very similar taste in gear. My GF is EXTREMELY picky and hard to size, LOWAs are the only ones that worked for her. I really like the Zephyr boots too, might get that on next. You should make videos!
@@BushcraftDave haha no one wants to see videos from a fat german half polish guy :) my best Buddy Jules makes videos- take a Look at "analog insights" if you are interested in analog photography.
That’s so funny you mention analog photography. In secondary school many years ago I learned how to take photos and develop film in a darkroom. There was a magic to it and a lot of preparation and forethought because of the cost of film and developing the photographs. Im just starting to get into digital slr cameras now and it’s convenient but it’s lost it’s magic for me. Back to making videos- just give it a try sometime my friend, you seem very friendly and nice. That’s enough reason to follow you.
@@BushcraftDave we will see - I have some concepts in mind.
I also quite like analog photography and developing. We have old analog cameras from the 50s and 60s as well as late modern 90s, which work with the modern lenses and flashlight triggers. But mainly my wife and I do digital photography since the late 90s. I would say "semi-amateur" with a few payed photoshoots every year. More to finance the hobby. No fancy careers in sight hehe
7:00 What brand of hiking pants is that? I know it's been a minute since you made this video, but hopefully you remember them? And also, thanks for a great video. Think I'm ready to make the purchase for the Lowa Renegades now.
Hi Kenneth. Those are my favorite pants for the outdoors. Their lightweight, made with "ripstop" fabric, and durable- I have 3 pairs and have been using them for 3 years now. They're under $30 and I think there's a discount for first time buyers too - snp.link/4d2f0e99
@@BushcraftDave do you remember the brand name that link doesnt seem to work anymore ?
Hi Adam let me find that link for you gimme a day
hey dave, how the boot durability?
How are they holding up now? U got a like just for the intro btw hehe
Haha thank you Kat! I haven’t had any issues but I clean them after I use them- dry them up and remove mud, never leave them baking in the sun, remove pebbles from the outside, etc..
They’re so comfy I use them for travel- from the airport, walk the city and hike. Highly recommend. If you want more protection, buy them from REI they offer extended protection on the gear they sell for free. Ask for details 👍
Hey Dave! Great initial review. After a year, how would you rate the durability of these after multiple uses? I am currently looking to get a pair of hiking boots, and these are possibly going to be my purchase. Thanks in advance!
Hi Chris! I was thinking of making an update video on this topic lol. I took these to Banff National Park a few weeks ago and they’re still going strong. I’ve read many many many reviews on these. Ive only heard these having issues if you’re going through super harsh conditions over hundreds of miles or if you leave these in a car baking for weeks. Check out REI’s website for user reviews. I like the philosophy of- take of your gear and your gear will take care of you. I love these, on many trips I wear these on the airplanes and then hit the trails with them. If you get these please consider using my links under video description to help the channel :)thanks for watching
Bushcraft Dave thanks! I will definitely use the link to purchase them to help, as your review was more in depth than any I have come across. I did use REI and a few sites, but most are just initial reviews, not too many after an extended period of ownership :(
I go to hike Mt Fuji next month and am excited to get these. Especially after your follow up comment. My current boots (Blackhawk Patrol) are definitely not up to the task, lol.
Thanks again!
Bushcraft Dave I clicked the link to purchase on the Amazon link, but it states they are currently unavailable. Do you have any other partner sites? If not, sorry mate, I tried :(
Or if you're ever in FL I'll buy a round of drinks for you and your lady one day to make up for it!
Hi Chris, I'm positive they'll last you as the do for me, just clean the mud and dirt off at the end of the trip (the dirt and mud wicks away the oils in the leather) and house the boots indoors for storage. Thanks for letting me know about the link! I fixed it: amzn.to/2NArdGy I really appreciate it!. Mt Fuji? wow that's so cool are you on Instagram? I'd like to follow your trip!
@@BushcraftDave Use Lowa Active Cream on the nubuck leather uppers on clean and dry boots. This will condition and waterproof, adding years of life to the boots. Cleaning alone is not enough. I have a pair of Lowa Zephyr Mid TF Desert boots en route to me from Zappos. They are not Gore-Tex which makes them a lot cooler to wear in hot weather. Best regards.
I'M Back Dave!
been wearing Lowas for ages now, these things last forever
That’s been my experience too 👍
What shoe size did she get ? And what is her usually shoe size ? Do they run big?
I really suggest going to a store to try on. I thought they ran a little big.
When you recommend mids en when lo's?
Mid vs Low? That’s a good question my friend. If you injury your ankles frequently, you might want mid because it keeps the ankle in-line but it will transfer force up the leg to your knee. In the NBA (basketball) they found that low tops might potentially injure ankles and those injuries although painful was rehabilitatable in a few months but knee problems could be more serious and a lot more time to heal needing possibly surgery.
So I guess you have to favor knee or ankle. If you have knee then get low tops and if you favor ankles then get mid tops.
But I’m not an expert just my opinion
@@BushcraftDave alright, sounds both not perfect, need both very often😂 never feel my ankle, sometimes my right knee a little, when i bent my knee, not in line with my foot
heyy can you tell me about its durability of sole and boot?
Hello Pankaj. Before I got these I read mixed reviews about the durability but in the almost year I’ve had them, they’ve been holding up well w/ good care. I never leave them in the car (sunlight and heat), I clean and dry them before storage, and make sure no rocks are stuck in the tread. It’s a good hiking shoe, if you’re a through backpacker you might want to look at Lowas backpacking line
@@BushcraftDave thanks Dave
Are these good for himalyan trek??
I don’t think so, you’d need mountaineering boots for that. You should go to mountaineering company and get advice what boots to get. Lowa and other companies do make mountaineering boots
@@BushcraftDave thanks a lot
I wish I could be of more help. But there are 4 different types or classes of hiking shoes. There’s a lot features you should consider and an expert in mountaineering will be able to advise you best. I wish you a safe and fun journey!
does the shoe stink?
After long hikes? I try to really take care of expensive gear so I always unlace them and open them up to air them out. I haven’t had any issues with smell. I still wear these and there my favs
Hi Dave, you might want to get your vocal chords checked. It doesn't sound like the microphone is generating that rattle, and if that is your natural rattle, something might be wrong. Take it serious! Best,
4:44 What hat is your girlfriend wearing?
Condor Outdoors cap 🧢 I’m wearing one right now I have 5 of them
Looks dangerous there were you are.
Hello there friend! If the weather is good- no wind, rain, or snow and you have hiking boots with traction then it’s relatively safe 😇. I actually ran out of water on this hike bit luckily someone offered me some
Do you have a girlfriend?
Interesting how your girlfriend cares more about the fashion over the function of the boot
Ah man, it’s a struggle finding outdoor gear for her lol. Thanks for coming by and interacting with me 👍
