There're lots of examples of custom bosses in MM. This one is fairly simple. It follows a rather straightforward template. There're obstacles to avoid, and four blocks you need to hit to win. Each block contains a spike ball that triggers an on/off switch, but each block can only be used once. An off-screen contraption triggers a p-switch after four on/off switch presses, opening the exit. Munchers trigger p- switches, so it would just take a muncher on a conveyer belt leading to a p-switch, with red and blue blocks in between so the muncher travels further each time you press the switch. You don't want the muncher to be killed by a block becoming solid, so you'd need to put empty spaces between the blocks on the conveyer path. The fight is based around a power-up that is used throughout the level. If the level was a platforming level centered around noteblocks, the arena would have a floor instead of a P balloon, and you would need to bounce off noteblocks in order to hit the question blocks. Some of Ceave Gaming's videos on mario maker are a great help for designing mario maker levels, and especially contraptions. I'd encourage you to check them out.

Pretty much all the levels in 100 Mario were just garbage, and nobody knew how to actually make good levels. In Mario Maker 2 though, people now have experience and there’s so many fun levels to play

@@thepandamc4093 The reason was because when Mario Maker 2 first came out, there was not enough time to make 4ymm levels so they pushed it back a whole year to do them, I feel like they could have just pushed them till the end of the year and done 5ymm at the time it was supposed to come out but that's not what the people that organize this thing decide and I always just found it really annoying personally.
My favorite thing about Dave is that he'll make 40 impossible jumps before breakfast, then walk straight into an immobile goomba and die.
