Police Academy is a 1984 American comedy film. Its story follows a new recruitment policy for an unnamed police department's academy that is required to take in any recruit who wishes to try out to be a police officer. The film stars Steve Guttenberg, Kim Cattrall, and G.W. Bailey.

Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment is a 1985 American comedy film. It is the second installment in the Police Academy franchise and the sequel to Police Academy.
Many actors return from the first film to respectively reprise their roles. Steve Guttenberg reprises his role as Officer Carey Mahoney, the class clown; former American football player Bubba Smith returns as the colossal Moses Hightower; Marion Ramsey is featured again as Laverne Hooks; David Graf returns as gun-crazy Officer Eugene Tackleberry; Michael Winslow returns as sound effects master Officer Larvell Jones, and veteran actor George Gaynes returns as Commandant Eric Lassard.

These are nice. I grew up watching many of the stars in the 80's - 90 and seeing so many who passed and are elderly is a bit sad. Shows life is just a flash and then we are gone.

FYI the character labelled as “Merchant” was actually the lovably clumsy Mr. Sweetchuk and owned the store ‘Sweetchuk’s Emporium” if my memory serves me correctly

Hey, merchant meet Mr. Sweetchuck. The owner of the lamp store. Poor guy, didn't even get known for his characters actual name. This was one of my old favorites growing up! Police Academy was such a fun movie to watch on a rainy day.
Thank you to all those incredible actors that brought such joy to our lives.
The problem is the character was introduced in the second movie and you don't learn his name until the third movie. The credit in the second movie is "merchant". As soon as I saw it, I was trying to figure out why they didn't use his name, I knew it was Sweetchuck immediately and had to do some digging as to why the credit is wrong.
Maybe I've just seen the movies too many times.
Police Academy a series of motion picture comedy films. Which left unforgettable good memories in the 1980s and mid-1990s. In which it has good comedic scenes; and perhaps that made the viewers have these enormous causes to laugh at each of the actors and at the same time imitate each of the characters in this wonderful comedy series. This is one of my favorite series. Thank you for giving information about the life of the actors of this magnificent comedy series. Blessings.
I still say “PAH ster AH peedic” from that bed of nails scene whenever I see a mattress with posturepedic . lol. And then the boiling gold fish scene. “you wanta sushi” for whenever I head to a sushi restaurant. Even a friend well versed in firearms was called tackleberry by us. memories and blessings indeed.

I always thought Leslie Easterbrook could have replaced Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in the Alien franchise. They looked a lot alike back then.
You forgot Billie Bird (Lois Feldman), Tab Thacker (Sgt. Conklin), and Randall "Tex" Cobb, who played the cowboy villain in the 4th installment...(I think he was either uncredited, or was credited by his role rather than name. Both Billie Bird and Tab Thacker have since passed away, while Randall Cobb is still roaming the planet.
