Yeah, the game isn't bad but they could've done a lot better, that's why I'm hoping in a sequel more original and more polished.

Yeah I totally love the this world and its characters. But the mechanics needs a much more improvement. I really wouldn't mind if it was reworked to fix the problem.
Other than that this really was a wonderworld.
i got 2 theories regarding Balan himself
1). Balan & Lance are twins, but something happened between them that caused Lance to be overtaken by the Negati
2). Balan (& Lance) are immortal magical beings who first showed up in the 5th Century (when theatre's first became a thing) and he has been helping people with there struggles, and all the drops thoughout the game, are all Balan's tears he made from seeing the people he helped leave (and if theory 1 is true, then some of those tears could also be from missing his brother)

***SPOILERS for those who havent read the novel. They are not brothers. Lance was born 3 thousand years ago, unclear how. Lance actually created Balan, before he was corrupted by negativity. Lance was the previous maestro of wonderworld, Balan is the new. Its hinted that Lance fell in love with humans, and something happened to turn him bad. He hints the same thing could happen to Balan in the novel ending.

I love this end scene, especially when the kids show Balan that they still love him and will miss him, because he not only helped restore their hearts, but was a true friend to them, something both Emma and Leo needed. 😊

Because (for the people) you must love or hate something, there's nothing in the middle. In my case I thing it's good, not a masterpiece but good, it has his flaws like everything in this world. I enjoyed my time playing it, isn't that the point of videogames?

Probably another few hours away from achieving platinum, and I don’t give a shit what anyone says, this game isn’t a 3-4/10. Yes, the game isn’t great but there is enough there to build off in terms of art direction and overall presentation worthy of a sequel.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time with this and although some gameplay features and mechanics were frustrating to deal with, the very premise of the game had me hooked.
FINALLY!!! Another person who likes this game! So far I’ve only played the demo, but it’s a pretty beefy demo and, as such, it gives me enough grounds to say that I’m loving the game so far.
I'd really love to see a sequel [obviously fan made lol squeenix wants to forget about this game so bad] where it's an entirely new set of Stagemasters, and it's been so long that Balan has succumbed to his fate and become the next Lance, but he retains his bombastic personality and the new Balan he creates is more serious and interacts with the Stagemasters a lot more. One thing I'd really like to see is a Stagemaster who's escapism is to *negativity,* like he believed his life was too good and easy and he felt guilty about it, so he ran away to Wonderworld and built this gritty, dirty city area where it's always night. Or maybe the flipside of that, a Stagemaster who isn't trying to escape anything, but instead has become so obsessed with and stuck in a *positive* moment, that he's ignoring everyone else around him. It would really tie in to the theme of balance between positivity and negativity.
Well what if on english version; to Leo and Emma run into Balan and they give him a hug and them they say a part and Balan as well and they said: Leo:"We miss you Balan already and we don't want to forget you."Emma:"Yeah.You're our first friend Balan."And a next for Balan heard all those words from leo and emma then balan he touch a warm feeling to his heart and a one tear fell down on his eye and turn into a crystal drop.Balan:"Friends...". And to the next after balan took off his hat and he show them his true self. Balan:"Don't worry, you're my first friends too." After he send them back home to own world and he pick up a drop a one fell down his eye and this a final word. Balan:"The real treasure was the friends we made along the way."

Also, isn't the ending slightly different if you used Emma instead? Because that's distinctly resolution for Leo's side of the story.
While it can be argued that the programmers are at fault for making this a bad game, I'm pretty sure it's the direction. Yuuki Hatakeyama (lead programmer) has actually worked on relatively competent games before, mostly under the watchful eyes of Nintendo and Sega.

Same, he has a very creative and amazing design with the hat, but whithout it he just looks like a generic anime boy, boring in my opinion
The design makes sense(he was created BY Lance, basically in his own image.) Balan going against that with his disguise is one way he "fights" against becoming what Lance says he's destined to be. Namely, just like him - corrupted and darkened because he cared far, far too much.

Yeah. I read the novel and it explains everything perfectly. It was long but it was worth it
exacly what i was thinking,i thankfull they "fixed" at least a bit of cass and cal time-travel story that felt messy but overall good
was repetive the novel as is good to see a story about trauma there the characters actually got a positive note at the end

You wouldn't actually know the story unless you tried to guess because it is literally just pretty cut scenes
The book.
The game's story is definitely a 90s 3D platformer plot, but is enhanced by the novel. Both stories are slightly different, but each elevates the other- knowing what each character looks like helps to visualize the events of the novel, and reading those events really lets you get to know the characters so the ending of both stories hit harder.

So, the credits epilogue scenes confirm that the novel and the game really are two separate stories, since Pensive Pieriot and Clocktower Kid are the same ages in the real world as they were in Wonderworld.
But God damn seeing that gorgeous Christmas NiGHTS homage in the final few renders hit me so hard, I love the fuck out of this game.

I'd really like for there to be a sequel, my theory for the sequel is you could play as Balan himself, not in the mini game, but throughout the game also switching between either Leo or Emma.

I mean in the game sometimes what he's saying is translated but like I think the most important lines he says in the game we're not translated the ending speech he gives what the hell is he trying to tell us I don't know because nobody told me you can't give a heartfelt speech and not tell me what the hell you're saying how am I supposed to learn anything or feel my heart touched if you don't translate what you're saying to me! *Face palm*
