Both cars have heads/cam and nitrous and they are crazy loud!

Purging has two benefits other than "show". One, it fills the line with nitrous so that it hits the nozzle quicker when it begins spraying into the engine (obviously also clearing it of air/etc). Because the nitrous line is often so long, purging immediately before a run can prevent a momentary rich condition with a wet kit when the system first fires and fuel makes it in before nitrous. The second benefit is that you can purge to release excess bottle pressure if the bottle gets too hot. Nitrous bottles are often heated in order to increase and regulate the pressure (bottle pressure must be in a certain range for a nitrous kit to work optimally) and purging allows you to vent extra pressure if it's too high. The driver of the red car may have been showing off, but I bet he was getting the bottle pressure perfect.

A fucking 11 second Neon?! I figured the mesothelioma would have killed anyone driving a Neon by now, but somehow this driver made it an 11 second car. I’m more impressed by that than I am with that Corvettes sexy performance.

The air leaving the hood is a nitrous purge. It gets rid of all the air in the No2 lines so that only pure nitrous is injected into the engine at initiation.

hebeb394 Theres a difference between muscle and sports cars. The Corvette is a sports car. A Challenger, Camero, Chargers (not the new ones), Mustangs are muscle.
Omg amazing sounds corvettes are some of the best sounding cars ever made the best sounding v8 cars in the world they look just as good as they sound to. And of course the performance is nothing short of at least world class.

i'm sure when the C7 owner looked at his mirrors he was getting a little worried he might get beat on camera... I hate skittles mostly because you see douchebag kids driving them and they sound pretty horrible.. a dodge motor with a mitsubishi turbo (although probably not a stock turbo in this vid, i mean most).. not the greatest exhaust note... but props to that driver/owner... it was just fast, not flashy and dumb.
Just to think that it would've beat the C6 in the second race. Thats nuts.

That srt4 was doing pretty good. Those numbers are stock turbo e85. Not bad. If he was running a 50 trim he would have gave that vette a run for it's money lol.

can't wait for the first streetable 9 sec corvette. i call high 8s by mid-summer and the first 7 sec street C7 by christmas at this rate. not to mention these are just BASE models. the Z06 is even more ungodly.
that black bette is extremely intoxicating but i do have to say that SRT-4 that raced it ran a 11.5 which is still impressive for a shall i say it "neon"

Looked to me as if the Red C7 got a better jump. And seemed faster. But at a 10.48 to the Black C7's 10.07 was almost 1/2 sec slower. These cars are still wicked fast. It's a shame what happened to those Vets here in Kentucky that fell in sink hole at the Vet museum.
