It is possible, from the way Liz talked about her mom in the past, that the mom is also a narcissist and likes her to behave a certain way, and she does when she's with Ed. It's common of kids from narcissistic parents to go into narcissistic romantic relationships.

ORRR, big ed can see the signs because he has experience in life, way more than liz, and he saw that she was NOT ready for marriage. He knows they shouldn't get married. If they really care for each other they need to not focus on labeling themselves so much and just focus on having a good time together. Ed may want to marry her but if he recognizes that they shouldn't be married then id say that's kinda respectable. He is NOT gaslighting her. People throw that term around like a hot potato. Ed shared an insecurity with her that he's afraid of being cheated on and she wanted to run away instead of calmly talk about it. Gaslighting would be him blatantly telling her that she is unlovable and only *he* will marry her. He did not do that. He tried to break it off. Please educate yourself on what gaslighting actually is. In the moment and ESPECIALLY on camera you don't know how to "perfectly" respond to certain emotional moments in life- hindsight is 20/20

Well a very basic rule to dating should be to stay away from anyone who’s such a terrible parent that their daughter doesn’t even speak to them. I don’t feel sorry for Liz cuz she has no regard for her partner’s kid so she’s just as lowlife as lil Ed.

All I know is that when Liz first appeared on the show, she seemed like a happy person for the most part… ever since Liz got involved with Big Ed, she’s either uncomfortable, crying, or constantly on the verge of crying .

Every time you get married and divorce there's an increase in the chances of your future marriages not working out. By the third time getting divorced (hell, even the second time...) you should probably know that getting remarried is out of the question. Not everyone can handle long term commitment and some of us just pick shitty relationships as a result of relationship trauma. In Liz's case you are now normalizing relationship abuse for your daughter and are now imparting that to them for them to struggle with in the future.

I know what it's like to be in abusive relationships with extremely toxic men like Big Ed and the predator spins the victim to make it like they can't live without them. I think that is where Liz is at and it's heartbreaking and I feel for her so much. I hope Liz gets out of this abusive toxic mess someday and frees herself from the chains of Big Ed.

Something that isn't mentioned nearly enough is that Liz has a child. She is raising a child in this absolute mess. If he is kicking her out constantly then there's a high possibility he is also uprooting her daughter every time they fight or break up. This cannot be a healthy situation for this little girl, being raised by two oversized teenagers. Liz needs to get away from Ed and focus on her daughter and herself.

@ If she is living with the father, that says A LOT. Fathers very rarely get primary custody of children. Courts are extremely biased. The mother either has to be dangerously unfit or willingly forfeit the right to be the primary caregiver. Ed's vocally opposed to children. Choosing a public toxic relationship with him over her daughter will cause long-term damage. Poor kid. I hope she's too young to be fully aware of what's going on.
@@CreatEr1n well I am not sure about US laws but I think if the mother is doing shit like this on TV, it effects where the child is placed (at least I hope so). Or Liz just dropped her off at her father so she won't be a part of the tv show. Whatever is the case, I am positive that poor child is gonna have some kind of trauma from this :s clearly Liz's whole family history is a mess, she never had a mother figure so she can't really be one for her own daughter.

There's a video by ArthurTV where he talks about the "fight" between Liz and her friend. The friend's girlfriend actually messages him with the full story. They were leaving, and Liz was hugging them goodbye when the partners shared some inside joke that made Liz mad. Liz told them to leave (even tho they were already leaving). The girlfriend said Ed and Liz kept calling them and trying to stir up more drama, but she wouldn't play into it. So from the way she told it, I'm thinking production probably did get the "fight" on film, but they wouldn't sign releases because they didn't want to be used as some plot device. And the "fight" wasn't as juicy as the captions made it sound anyway.

I think it’s a combination of him needing to be in control of the situation and deep insecurities. He needs to make the other person feel like he’s the best thing since sliced bread and that they’ll be sooo lost without him, and a lot of times this is achieved by acting as though you’re better than everyone while simultaneously putting down and belittling the other person. You can definitely see it in full effect during this episode

then he repeated the pattern with Liz, he was so nervous that she might not go out with him, was rushing to kiss her like he was in high school again, and once she gave in and was his gf, he acted like she was hot garbage, but when she left, he acted like he was lost without her.

The "Argument" with Liz's friend was discussed by the friend's girlfriend, I think, on Twitter. Ed made it out to be something it wasn't, and totally tried to gaslight Liz here.
Apparently the girlfriend of the lesbian who argued with Liz came forward and said that they were 'kicked out' over them making an inside joke with Liz that Liz then go angry with them about. That was the whole deal. The lesbian who touched her arm wasn't trying to come onto her or anything, they were just friends she was there with her own girlfriend. Also the producers or whatever blew up the two girlfriends' phones trying to get more drama from them and they had to ghost them to make them stop.

Y'all I CAN NOT with how this was portrayed. So my gf is the girl in question here. We were getting ready to leave so my gf was hugging Liz goodbye and Liz looked like she was going to cry so my gf looks at her like "hey are you good? Do you need to talk?" And had her hand on her arm. Then I walked up and made an inside joke we have had within our friend group and Liz LOST IT. She started yelling at me and my gf and I were like Liz it's a joke it's a joke. So we started to go back to our group to get our stuff because, again, we were already leaving and then she "kicked us out" bitch please we were already leaving. They kept calling my gf all night and Ed was harassing her trying to accuse them of having a relationship and my gf was like "I'm not here to be used for whatever plot or narrative you think is here". It was really exausting and my girlfriend was NEVER, EVER, attracted to Liz. Period.

Big Ed has issues with women dating women, remember he did the same thing to Rose at the tell all “you’ve been with a woman” and he showed rose’s Instagram pic, dude is a loser and I think he’s got some issues he needs to fix as far as him being threatened by women dating women, after him. He also gave Rose a hard time bc she didn’t want to tell him about her exes and past, he won’t marry Liz without knowing her past… like Ed you cheated on your wife while she was pregnant, you have no clue what marriage is and you cannot judge others pasts when yours is shameful.

nobody asked to hear my personal business. but just want to say something in response to Ken saying that he can't believe this could be a real relationship. While i can't say anything in regards to their relationship being real or not, I can promise you this exact premise of a relationship is very much a reality out there. It was mine pretty much to the T for 4 years.
We had fights exactly as ridiculous as this a million times. I'd unload everything like she did, he'd reply with threats and insults. Yet I was the one begging him to stay in the aftermath. If she's truly in the situation this show portrays, then i'll just say that she's smart and aware of every single thing he does and how wrong it is and how much he hurts her. Yet she has such little self worth that she will buy into his gaslighting, and he knows it. Anytime it all finally pours out of her, he'll threaten to leave instead of apologize. while you imagine she'd just say good, go then, she'll be the one that ends up begging for him to stay and apologizing.
People used to tell me I had sad eyes, and that i looked frightened and sad in general even when I felt my happiest. I didn't understand that and never did until I started watching your commentary on this show. You always comment about how sad liz looks all the time. I recognize what she's carrying behind her eyes.
The reason I felt like commenting about this is because today I was going to meet back up with him for the first time in years. This feels like a reminder of everything I'm denying by allowing him the chance to come around me after staying away for so many years. You surely didn't imagine that uploading a reaction video to a goofy TLC show would potentially change someones course in life, but hey lol, it appears that's exactly what happened today lol.

Forgive me but I've ended up getting lost venting here about my thoughts on this, & I'm just gonna post it instead of worrying about how I let myself get lost in the convo haha. putting this at the start to make it clear I wasn't trying to somehow inform you of anything with this. I know you dont need to have any of this explained to you.. im just venting in the open. Don't have people around that I'm comfortable discussing this with.
BUt yeah, this behavior is all so familiar to me. I've found it super funny, but confusing, to see ken & buff persist it MUST be fake. I get you'd be suspicious cause it's TLC for christ sake, but the fact that their behavior is the reason they think it's fake is what left me like "huh? are they saying it's poorly acted or something?" cause I couldn't understand it's something most people havent dealt with. Makes sense though that people would usually cut those out of their lives who are capable of this looonnngg before it could evvvveeerr get this way. I guess that's the entire point of grooming, love bombing, && gaslighting being key parts of the abusers cycle. Like they clearly seek out partners who are vulnerable enough to ignore red flags that most people wont ever put up with, & then begin a cycle thats dependent on taking advantage of that vulnerability & lack of self love.
I guess that means that even the love they give you is abusive. Cause when you understand the bigger picture, even the love is purposeful && tactical & to get something in return. Also its used as a weapon, so you cling to them even when the cycle moves on to steps that reveal more who they really are. & right when you can't possibly take it anymore, they'll switch back & love bomb you again, reaffirming the persons doubts about leaving and showing them it was worth enduring the fight because of all these good moments. and then it repeats.
It's been 2 years for me since I left and I feel like i have years of work ahead of me before I'll even be able to simply date again. and i'm someone who's extremely social and romantic and would adore a partner. so it's not like it's normal for me to spend countless years without a partner. I just can't do it. I would be a horrible partner right now because of how messed up i am from it. But i'm trying not to give up on myself. I want to believe I can find myself again and that I'm not lost forever now.

I agree 1000% with you both. As a 34-year old I grew up in the early 2000s with the thoughts of oh "if you don't get married now, it's too late." lol
The "spinster" mindset was still alive and well in the early 2000s, (2022 as I am writing this comment,) so it was put in the heads of a lot of people that if you aren't "with someone, then you will be alone forever!!!" lol
So true, I’m 37 and have had two abusive marriages, first time I’ve been single for longer than a few months and it’s hard to change that mind set of “ill be single forever, unless I get married” but I’ve been solo since the end of 2020 and am working on those inner thoughts.
You grew up in the 90s tho? 34, you'd be born in 1988 so by time it hits 2000 you'd already be 12, almost a teenager....... you might have started to date in the 2000s but I don't think you can really say you grew up in the 2000s if your childhood was in the 90s.

I honestly think this is the best outcome. Ed has this all or nothing reaction to every little thing. As a Lesbian with female friends. I think so far this year, I have been told that I'm trying to "turn" someone, take their future "girlfriend" away from them, or accused me of hitting on my friends.
One of them, activity would make me feel bad for hugging my friends because "Maybe you shouldn't be so touchy, they might think you're into them?" Or "Have you consider, that they maybe they don't want you hug them but don't wanna be homophobic?" It hurt a lot and I actually tried to avoid physical contect because of that. Thankfully, my friends had my back. A lot of men and woman would even if that person isn't gay. However, they are more comfortable saying it when the person is gay or lesbian.

Taking out the probably correct idea that TLC is controlling these events to some extent, she seemed legit drunk there. Which makes me more inclined to think she wasn't acting when she said what he has been doing. Regarding the age difference - it can work. I am with a woman twice my age (I’m 32) and I have never been happier or more in love. But we have had the tough conversations about what will happen as she ages and so on. The issue with Ed is he goes after young women because he knows they often don’t have the life experience or confidence to say no to him yet. Not always the case, of course, but it’s a safer bet on his pathetic part.

When I was younger women always used to say no to me 95% of the time; I imagine they still would too if I even bothered with that stuff anymore. For me, I just remember a bunch of older men trying to hit on me and my friends when I was in my early twenties. I’m a lesbian so they didn’t get very far, but looking back now I can clearly see what their motives were.
