Ok - so I have VERY vague memories of a bunch of kids on a show and in one episode the smart one built a robot or something like that. Maybe I dreamt it years ago but I could swear it was this!
"Steven Gibson'" I always noticed that a majority( if not all) TV shows , especially kid's programming back then, were somehow a rehash of each other. "The Blue Aardvark" was a rehash of The Pink Panther (cartoon show). There was a show which featured a group of kids called "The Red Hand Gang" which seemed to me to copy from The Double Deckers, even though The Red Hand Gang was not as comical as the Double Deckers. In "The Banana Splits" there was a segment called "Danger Island" which was about a group of boaters (mostly young people) who get lost and have to survive on an island. A few years later there was a kid's TV show with something of the same premise, called " Land of The Lost." Then there was ""Ärc 2" and "Space Academy" which were very much like each other.

@@suztunes612 I’m with you I’m down south, we have dinner at lunch time and tea at dinner time and if you have a late breakfast ie between breakfast and dinner then that’s brunch right ? Just thought I’d clear this up.
You must have had your tea early because it was aired on Saturday mornings.
I'm 57 and loved this I used to dream about being "tiger"... Just so cool! X beautiful innocent times. I was lucky enough to have a lovely childhood. Although my mum died when I was four we were loved and the adults tried to make up as best they could, bless them ❤x happy days
Blimey, that's a tune that occasionally pops into my head but I'm sure this is the first time I've heard it since 1971 !!!!
😂😂 same here Robin. And I thought it was just me!
Everyone who is reading these replies...you can hear the theme tune EVERY SUNDAY on BBC RADIO LONDON (94.9 FM) on Gabi Roslyn's show on Sunday afternoon.
She uses it as her opening theme!
Wow what a flash back to childhood thanks 🤩 ❤🤩
Yes definitely remember. Better than kids programmes today

My God, hadn't seen this since the early 70's! Happy times, thanks for showing.
Well, (apart from the 37 maddies who disliked it?? ) everyone thinks the samme, what a wonderful program!! I think i am just a little bit older than most, but the big brothers and sisters liked this too when it was on. As everybody says, reminds us of more innocent times when the sun shone all the time and school was not the stress inducer that todays kids endure. Happy days!

I'm nearly 63 and growing up in the 70's was a marvellous time for me and my brothers, even though we were unaware of the hardships our parents were going through we had the time of our lives.
Crikey, my favourite show when I was a kid, that and the banana splits😉
Dear drooper...!! Lol...
"Hey Drooper. Why are you pulling that chain?"
"Hyuk. Have you ever tried to push one?"
Ha the Banana splits, had the punk version of the theme tune by 'The Dickies' on Yellow vinyl. 😁
@@augustuscaesar5997 Tar Ra Ra Bum Dee A ?!! and THE SOUR GRAPES....
but my favourite memory is of the four tails hanging out of the back of their Buggies.....
and every time Snorky lost his temper!!!!
🎶one banana, two banana, three banana, four. Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.🎵
Blissful memories. Will never forget them.
I used to love this show when I was a little boy in the 1970s. And I am from Los Angeles CA.
I use to whatch Here comes the double deckers when I lived in GILLINGHAM KENT from 69/73 so it is nice to see it on U TUBE
Thank you for the comment more saturday morning memories on the way
I used to watch it in Chatham :-)
This was one show I could never get out of my head. I I bought the dvd and its just as fantastic when I watched it back in the 70s ❤️❤️❤️

WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE 70S THE DOUBLE DECKERS WAS THE BEST, I AM 61, NOW WANT HAVE THE KIDA GOT TOO DAY
Wow! I cant believe I'm watching that again after all these years, I'm 62 now, i was about 8/9ish then 😳🤭
Me too!
Great memories of 70’s kids TV. Used to watch it regularly and long for those days constantly.
Loved this show. I so wanted to be in the Double Decker gang.
You know what's sad? I remembered the tune and most of the words before I clicked on the video. I remember this when it first aired on the BBC.
What's sad about that
So that's what it looked like in colour, we only had a B&W TV at the time!
We had a colour TV so we were MUCH richer than you.
Same here. B&W telly only so I've never seen this in colour! Nice memories of childhood though.
Pot Black "and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green"
Where I lived in the countryside we had to wait until 1980 before we had a local transmitter to receive colour tv.
Yeah we only had B&W until 78, watching football was crap ☹️
Took me right back to happier times, thank you 😊
Greatest kids programme of the 70s, loved it!!!!!

I'm 60 and I loved this show. There doesn't seem to be anything like it now. I guess we live in different times.❤
I loved watching this when I was a kid. It was one of the few programmes I got to choose to watch, I lived with my grandparents and Grandad had complete control over the TV.
I loved this show! Thanks for posting! It’s all so familiar yet I’ve not seen it since probably the 70’s.
Watched this, unless radio rentals had repossessed the TV
...or Rumbelows
Ha ha 🤣
Not Fooled
The old slot meter tv's lol. Only two channels (BBC1 and ITV) unless you was lucky to have one of the new ones with BBC2 also.
Hah! Radio Rentals, first time we ever got a colour TV and I was the remote control.
Radio Rental HQ was in the next street to were I live next to our working men's club. Worked there for a while until it closed (they were a very good employer). When I tell the youngster in the place I work now, that most people used to rent their telly they look at me in disbelief and when I say may Nan only ever had a black & white TV. Thanks for jogging my memory of some good times.
Oh my god just clicked on this and gone back in time 40 years ❤❤❤absolutely brilliant memories great show so innocent made me smile so much ❤
Oh, the memories this intro brought back. I loved this show and always looked forward to watching it. Great memories

Can you even FATHOM that this was imported and shown as an ABC-TV Saturday morning show in the US the late 60s!? I watched it every week as an 8 year old and never forgot it. Have since got the soundtrack on Capitol Records and a (bootleg) copy of the series on DVD. Loved every minute of it. Dr. Mark
I loved that show. All the characters were brilliant. Pure fun.

I used to rush home from school to watch it. One of my all time favourite children's tv programmes.
Loved that programme as a kid and the tune is so memorable.

Oh this brings back so many good memories when I was growing up it used to be on BBC 2 every morning usually during the summer holidays it was such innocent fun and a big part of our generation loved this show to bits and to hear the opening song it gives me goosebumps .
Show was televised in the US and I remember it fondly.
In France as well😉
It's kind of funny. I watched this as a kid in UK and you just take it for what it is. But in retrospect it was 100% American made. British shows just weren't like that.
ABC-TV Saturday mornings
Remember this in Ireland, late 60's?
No one else ever remembered this when I would mention it as a show I loved as a kid . So glad to see I wasn’t just imagining it
I got to meet Brinsley Forde a couple of years ago. What a lovely man he turned out to be!

He's a very nice fella. I sat next to him and another Aswad member on a flight once.
@@thelastmotel proper gent and still an awesome performer! It was when I heard the band go into a second perfectly executed Aswad tune I thought "wait up" and got myself round to the front of the stage in double quick time! As it was a smaller festival stage it was a perfect opportunity to get round the back and shake him by the hand and thank him for helping me get through the '80s
Great memories! Sadly nowadays though it would be seven kids playing on their phones too lazy to go up to the upper deck!
This show is probably one of my first memories of watching television. I can't have been much older than about 3 at the time. Maybe even younger. All in black and white, of course!
This show nearly had me eaten alive! My friend and I loosening some boards in the very high fence at the local scrapyard. Upon entering we never found a double decker bus but a very large and rabid Alsatian ( they were still called Alsatians back then)found us. After the ensuring shenanigans I ended up covered in oil, dog slobber and excrement and my friend lost his trousers and a silver shilling he got for his birthday. Needless to say we were late home for ours teas and both of us not allowed out for a week. I also got scrubbed with Vim in the tin bath outside to the amusement of my sisters. Ah the good old days!
Best days of our lifes......xx
Worm that turned
Your right. They were called Alsatians back then. Don't know if they have changed the the name of them now, but they were like the Pit Bulls' of the 70's.

Had a secret crush on Tiger at the time, I was young...lol
Great Memories from a parallel earth.

Remember this from Saturday mornings when I was kid, oh to be able to go back and relive the feeling of freedom.
OMG! How did this pop up? I'm 62 soon and by god when I think back to what I used to watch my heart skips a jump, the generation now days would laugh at what we used to watch for my generation. At least we had a playful childhood,a safe one,and we never had what they have today.

Now here's a great clean funny show. No risky jokes,,,,,, just good clean fun,,,,, we need more of these shows TODAY.
That takes me back to TV in the Summer holidays.
I’m 61. Interestingly, Bruce Clark was our neighbor in Redford Michigan, USA. He and my older brother were friends. His father worked for Ford Motor Company and got transferred to England. I remember all the neighbors got together to watch the premier.
I loved this when I was a kid, and Belle and Sebastian.
I know the name of Belle and Sebastian but cannot remember what it was about!
But that name has brought back memories of another kids show about white horses with the title song going something like “On white horses, snowy white horses, let me ride away’ ?
Does anyone remember what that was called?
@@rivermoon6190 think it was what you say it was called. “White horses”, I also remember that and the Flashing blade on a Saturday morning in black and white.
I used to love watching the double deckers. Happy times, for sure ❤❤
OMG!! I remember this! Very vaguely as i was probably about 4 when I saw it but the whole feel of it just came flooding back. Ok - so I have VERY vague memories of a bunch of kids on a show and in one episode the smart one built a robot or something like that. Maybe I dreamt it years ago but I could swear it was this!

I absolutely loved this when I was a kid, wow, I feel good!!!!!!!!!!!!❤
Loved this as a kid but didn't realise until many years later that there was a show that preceeded it. The Magnificent six and a half.
A few years later there was a kid's TV show with something of the same premise, called " Land of The Lost."
Then there was ""Ärc 2" and "Space Academy" which were very much like each other.
Used to watch this religiously as a kid.....brings back great memories 🙂
My goodness I had forgotten this but now I remember and loved it as a child ❤️
Same here Jayne it’s really made me smile seeing this for the first time in , don’t like to say it 48 years. Fantastic
Wooooshhhhh Off I went back 50 years. I always loved that little kids wink at the end. Terrific.
Great memories of being about five years old and collecting dinky toys, airfix kits ruled, and as previous comments kids tv was at it's best. Along with captain scarlet, banana splits and skippy happy days.
