I don't think Strange did this. I think the spell definitely made things worse, but the timeline was already getting screwed up from loki.
Here is my theory... what sylvie done with he who remains was at the exact same moment doctor strange was doing his spell and the same point in time scarlett which was reading the book ..

Yeah I think the same. Doc Ock was one of the few ppl that knew about Tobey's Peter Parker being Spiderman. I think MCU's Peter is suiting up as a result of the green goblin bomb

In the comics after Civil War where Peter revealed his secret identity and Aunt May getting fatally shot. He made a deal with Mephisto where in exchange for his marriage with MJ. Mephisto will make everyone forget Peter Parker is Spiderman but not only did it cost Peter and MJ's marriage but also prevented the birth of their future daughter. The story for this was called Spiderman: One More Day which is considered the most hated storyline by all Spiderman fans.

Lmao people thought the MCU was done and they decide to release another mind blowingly iconic movie just two years later. They are on top of the world, no one can do it like them

It’s kind of easy to miss since it’s a short shot and in shadows but when the two people walk into the interrogation room the one in the white shirt looks very similar to Charlie Cox aka Matt Murdock/Daredevil. When they walk in you get a glimpse of his face in the shadows and looks very close to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

WRONG! First of all, STF! About Mesphisto Bumass . Dr. Strange could be an evil variant of himself due to the Loki events that happened just like (Kang The Conqueror) said. @@llyricaljuice If you knew anything about the comics then you would know this movie is pulling from the Civil War storyline in the comics where Peter reveals his secret identity but Peter realizes he made a mistake and put his loved ones at risk. Aunt May is shot, and in the One More Day storyline, Peter turns to Doctor Strange to help save her. Doctor Strange isn’t able to save May’s life, so Peter makes a deal with the literal devil, Mephisto. In exchange for Aunt May’s life, he has to give up his marriage to MJ, and Mephisto erases MJ’s memory of Peter. This is one reason why I said this could be Mephisto posing as Doctor Strange. The other is because in Infinity War and Endgame, Doctor Strange made a big deal about playing with magic and how certain things shouldn’t be done. So it’s weird that in this movie he’s just going to do a dangerous spell with no hesitation or pushback at all. That’s why I said this COULD be Marvel’s way of bringing Mephisto into the MCU, by having him pose as Doctor Strange.

It comes down to the fact that Spidey is really the only comic book type superhero in the MCU as he's the only major hero with a secret identity, something the other heroes don't grapple with and Strange's words come from the fact what he's doing is dangerous. It's normal in comics but when the MCU is not built on secret identities then this one stands out.

Technically Peter Parker messed up the spell when he stepped inside the circle and started talking while he was casting that's the reason why he said stop messing up the spell but then he kept on talking.
In the comics...Mephisto is the one that made everyone forget Peter was Spiderman man, not Dr Strange. Unless Mephisto is impersonating Dr. Strange in this movie (the devil looking Christmas lights in this trailer) maybe is a tease to that.
