Have you tried Euro Nymphing? Check out our latest technique that breaks down how to cast a Euro Nymphing set up to catch more fish! ua-cam.com/video/L3oqmJH7Vn8/v-deo.html
All I use are nymphs I caught more fish using them instead of live bait . I guess in some areas the fish need to see something different in order to bite
Very clear with the instructions. Very good tips. Thank you for making this. The idea about two clinch knots instead of tying onto the hook is brilliant.
Thumbs up! Probably the best video out there for newbies. If someone is starting out, this is the the very first video they should watch. Super simple and to the point, and you don't need to go spending a ton of money on extra gear that you don't need in the beginning.
Some absolutely phenomenal tips here for beginners. Really appreciate the time you took to explain each step and then again recap the whole set-up after the rig was complete. It's easy to get lost on some steps so the full rig recap IMO was what made this video stand out from the rest. Thanks and great job!
Awesome video. There are so many videos on UA-cam for rigging tandem nymphs, but this is clearly the most efficient (and apparently effective)! Thanks!
I never thought about tying higher up on the leader and using the excess for the second dropper. Completely changed my mind and saved me a lot of time!!! Great video! I am going to save this for when my son is older to help him learn too! Thank you guys I will be trying this tomorrow!!’
That's a very helpful video. There are plenty of beginners out there who will benefit from that kind of basic and thorough explanation. Much appreciated!
Hello I am a beginner, but how far up should you tie the first nymph. Should it be tied to the thinner material of the tapered liter and the indicator on the thicker part of tapered liter? If the indicator is one and a half times the depth you are fishing, won't that cause hang ups?
OKAY !! Well done. Instant subscribe after 1:45 secs. 4 years on you tube and first time I left a comment. I have never seen anyone straighten there leader on You tube. I hope the rest is as good as the first 2 minutes. I am sure it will be !
I watch a ton of Fly fishing videos, and that rigbyou did is brilliant. I never seen anyone use that for some reason. Tying on a line to the bend of a hook can be a pain. That looked so easy
I just bought a fly fishing set up and looking to get into it. I've fished my whole life from largemouth to 200lbs Bigeye tuna. Fly fishing is so different that I didnt know where to begin. This video has taught me more than the last 20 videos i've found in the last week. Extremely informative for us beginners Thank you!
Thanks for the thorough explanation. It's always nice to see the full setup in detail and have someone give the little tips they've learned along the way. the more knowledge we have the better fisherman we become.
Great video and good idea however remember that the breaking strain on the lower nymph will be around 50% of the line class where as the top nymph will be about 75%. Using a double surgeons knot gives around 80% strength on both tag ends. Irrelevant with small fish I know but if you bump into a trophy on light line it's the knots that fail first.
I've been fly fishing for 40 years and this video actually reminded me of something i forgot. The indicator should be one and a half the depth you are fishing. I thought it was more than that. Anyway I go by feel when setting my strike indicator but i start two lengths out and come in. I will try to start shallower. I've always fished dry and streamers, now I'm starting to nymph again after i haven't nymphed in years. I figure streamers and numphs will catch me some big trout. Thanks.
Been fly fishing for years and never could figure out nymphing. If someone showed me it just didn’t make sense. Just caught my first rainbow while nymphing on my own thanks to this video!
Thats awesome! Keep practicing your nymphing skills and you’ll continue to find more and more fish. They say 90 percent of a trouts diet is subsurface. Best of luck and thanks for commenting!
From the UK and that's the best, clearly explained, short video I've seen. I now feel confident to go out and give nymphing a try. Our club frowns upon indicator use because it doesn't meet with their old school, traditional methods but I'm assuming this method can still be used but keep a tight line as much as possible?
wow. very clear and concise. excellent video, could see everything you are doing. would like to see you actually fish the rig because what happened to you NEVER happens to me.
Thanks for the heads up! It is just a yearly trip we do with some friends. A way for all of us to get together. I’ve been down south east and it was some good fishing 🎣!
Great video, thank you! That's a good point that dry fly is not the best one to get started. Although you hear people praise it. Nymphing is so much easier to get started with. And when you get those first few catches, it's much more fun to keep learning more :D
Just found this nymphing video. Crush all barbs and you won't need a net. The clinch knot is not good and the improved clinch knot is much better. Bobber fishing is a great method for a bream pole, or if you can't cast a fly rod. I really like the scud.
Fantastic video. Very well done. Clear, concise and relevant. Thanks for posting. Just subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to watching more videos.
great video. learned a few things. my question: what happens when the depth of the water changes and you have the thingamabob attached, then how do you quickly adjust the length from the float to the nymphs? say you go from fishing 6' to 6", which happens all the time. problem: thingamabob will crimp your line and can break lighter test line. now you have to re-tie?
Using about 2-3 feet of tippet. We usually like to use 3x - 5x tippet depending on the water clarity. If water is super clear we will usually use 5x. If water clarity is a little off or murky we will use stronger tippet like 3x or 4x. Tight Lines!
with this extra weight, does it make it harder to cast? I am new and yes the old dry fly, so I am simply wondering what kind of cast to use and do you cast up stream, letting the nymph flow down stream with the current? thank you
Yes it does make for casting just a little more challenging… the key is to try to keep a bigger open loop to not get your indicator setup tangled up. A rod with more of a medium/fast action rod similar to our Streem Rift series helps keep loops open when casting heavier nymph setups. A normal cast will work but try to minimize false casting as much as possible. Roll casting can also be effective! You are correct, you’ll want to cast up stream and let it float with the current downstream… try to keep a “drag-free” drift to allow the nymphs below the indicator to drift as natural as possible. Hope this helps!
Great video. I've fly fished for a long time, and one concept I've struggled a bit with setting the indicator 1.5 times the depth of the water being fished. It seems like to get a dead drift with the flies right under the indicator, wouldn't you want to set the indicator the same depth as the water, or maybe just a little shallower?
Typically anywhere from 7-10 feet. Typically depends on the type of water we fish. If it’s slower-shallower water I’ll typically go on the 7 ft and longer for deeper-swifter water

Glad you found some value in it!
Dude! tying the second nymph to the tag end of the first is an amazing time saving tip. I cannot believe that I never thought of that. 🤯
Glad you found it helpful! 🙌

Thank you, subed

i didnt know adam sandler fly fished
Nice made video, thanks for sharing. Greetings from austria!

thanks great video

Thanks Jeff!
Great and informative, but what about the split shots? Don’t they move up and down toward the flies? What do you do to prevent that.
It’s cool to see that Adam Sandler fly fishes.
Dude doesn’t even crack a joke or sing a silly song, he’s gone all serious on us.
great video. learned a few things. my question: what happens when the depth of the water changes and you have the thingamabob attached, then how do you quickly adjust the length from the float to the nymphs? say you go from fishing 6' to 6", which happens all the time. problem: thingamabob will crimp your line and can break lighter test line. now you have to re-tie?
You guys haven't did a video in a while? U guys have awesome videos
So you’re not using tippet? Just straight onto the leader?
thanks for the great video, how do you change the top fly? do you retie both flies everytime you change it? thanks
yes. :)
are you using tippet? or are you just tie both flyies on the leader line? thanks
Using about 2-3 feet of tippet. We usually like to use 3x - 5x tippet depending on the water clarity. If water is super clear we will usually use 5x. If water clarity is a little off or murky we will use stronger tippet like 3x or 4x. Tight Lines!
How do you keep that second split shot from sliding down in between your two flys?
Are you using a tapered leader to tippet?
with this extra weight, does it make it harder to cast? I am new and yes the old dry fly, so I am simply wondering what kind of cast to use and do you cast up stream, letting the nymph flow down stream with the current? thank you

@@StreemOutdoors it sure does and thank you
Nice
How do you prevent your split shot from sliding down?
Why do you not want to tie clinch knots on your flies? I’ve always had good results with the basic clinch knot the line always breaks before the knot
hey looks very worried about the information he is giving even though its good.
He looks more like he needs to hit the crapper before he did the video haha
Fly fishing is an introvert's sport. He probably hates being on camera.
@@KaiTakApproach exactly props to him for giving this insider knowledge that will help so many beginners

Wondering if you could get two fish at the same time with this setup? Ever see that before?
Why the one and half times the depth when you set the indicator?
Hi what is the total lengh of the leader used? Great instrution. R uk.
Wait.. you can tie onto a tag ? i thought that would mess up your knot or potentially break it 😮
Nope… works great!! 👍
Could you fish that on a 5wt? I know the rigs bulky but that’s all I have
Yep, 5 wt will work perfectly!
How long is your leader from your flyline to your first fly?
Typically anywhere from 7-10 feet. Typically depends on the type of water we fish. If it’s slower-shallower water I’ll typically go on the 7 ft and longer for deeper-swifter water
Do you find you get lots of tangles with that set up?
Looked like a great video but I couldn't get the sound!
