I had a dear friend that as her health went down she was in her bed most the day from knee pain. I would always remind her ‘the bed is not your friend’. Now at 74, I lay in my bed and I hear that quote I told her over and over. I’m not in pain just tired with little get up an go. Loved your video. You nailed it my friend.
And another thing... everyone thinks because you're retired that you have all this time to do stuff with or for them. You've got to get okay with saying, "No," and okay with leaving it at just a "no" without feeling the need to explain why not.
And yet another thing, for my neighbors who’ve retired, especially early. I do not work for you. Certainly not for free. I have a paying job and I do not run a free care center, at my own expense. There are boundaries. Those boundaries mean that, once I’ve said no, it isn’t up for discussion and arm twisting. No one is entitled to my time, except me and my employer. Asking for help means asking. Not demanding. Not coercing. Trying to punish me may also backfire. So yeah. Those are out there, too.
Almost 77. And I, too, am living it. Wake up too early, compensate with a nap, go too bed at 10:00 and try to embrace the new biorhythm that comes with age. Used to travel. Glad I did. But now........? No way. Travel for me is vicarious....my wife goes places. I stay home with the dogs and fix things. And nap.
Luckily for me, I've always found Saturday to be the best day of the week. I can stay up as late as I want the night before. I can get up when I choose, not when that infernal alarm clock says to. I can do whatever I want all day. And I can stay up as late as I want on Saturday night. Saturday is the perfect day. In fact, when I go on vacation, or just have a four day weekend, I count the days in terms of Saturdays. First Saturday, second Saturday, third Saturday, Sunday. 😃
"Everydays a holli-day at UP-PA Winbaugh!" Absolutely nobody on this channel will know where that quote came from. (But that's what Saturday reminds me of)

No drugs in our systems (only for infection or serious pain) and a healthy diet with plenty of organic veggies, fruit & meat. Also get lots of sunshine for our daily dose of Vitamin D (we get a lot of that in Hawaii). We are blessed to be able to travel the world and hope to continue until our bodies rebel. A very comprehensive list! And funny. I recently signed up for a special program for “seniors” at a local college. You crack me up. I don't have knee problems, but my left ankle has been sore and I have been hobbling around for 4 months. On Monday I got back from a trip to Banff Canada with my daughter and family. We hiked every day and I am exhausted. For 3 days now I can barely get anything done that requires energy.
