I think for kids they may take it to heart if another kid says their food is disgusting. I'm mexican and grew up in an area with no other hispanic kids. My mom would pack me authentic mexican food for lunch in elementry and the amount of kids that would make faces at my food and have nasty comments to say made me not want to eat at school.
