Ride the Lightning has by far my favorite guitar tone of any Metallica album. Yeah, the overall production on the black album might be objectively superior, but there's a certain balance between the rawness and the clarity here that appeals to me in a way I can't really describe. Also, I appreciate the subtle composition changes you made. Makes the nearly spot-on tone even more convincing. Well done.

It would’ve been really good if you used the Master of Puppets (Late June 1985 Demo) version for the vocals, it was james coming right off of RtL so his vocals are very creeping death like

Very nice from 4:15 using influence from the demos as an influence, that was really cool! All-round beautiful merger.
This is sharper and cuts harder than the original, but the original is heavier and thicker than this version. I'd say I prefer the original by a bit but both have their strengths. Either way, fantastic work and thank you for creating/uploading this!

Master Of Puppets got me started with Metallica, but Creeping Death was what really hooked me, it's one of my favorite songs. So hearing that you mixed them, I cried the first time I heard the "Die!" The previous version sounded a little more like listening to a worn-out cassette of RtL over the car stero, which is the historically correct way for the album to be heard. Love the gratuitous bass boost of the remaster though.
Now was that planned because as a kid my ride the lightning tape was well work out so always thought that was why ....does have ther ring feel

I like Master of Puppets' clear, scooped reverby and pretty thick tone much more, but I also dig Ride the Lightning's thin, crisp and also (more?) reverby tone for the song. Great job Man!
