What a neat piece of gear. Thanks for the review. You are right that not leaving anything on the ground when you leave is a definite plus. We may just have to check this out for ourselves! Enjoying adventuring with you guys. Thanks for sharing.
Answered all my questions thanks! I have the Bonfire and like that we can fit full size pieces of typical firewood. It does burn wood faster than a regular fire pit but with minimal to no smoke.
To clarify what Ron said... there is ash in the bottom of the stove, but there is no ash on the ground or anything on the ground below it to clean up. We still need to dump the ash before starting another fire because it causes it to smoke more if too much ash is left in the bottom. Thanks for stopping by... I hope you are having a great week!
@@ernstkristianstlen4369 no, and I clean and store it indoors after every trip. It's only been exposed to mornind dew which evaporates with morning fires. Just not the greatest quality of steel. I won't buy another
@@lmadore8604 next question would be what sort of cleaning products you used when you cleaned? Some products may harm the antirust technology in the steel.. I don't have one of these, just doing some research of heating solutions I am considering to use on my built in padio. Your comment made he curious about what's going on with your product though 😅
Look good y'all. Ron is Amanda gets out of line you can get her with them tongs. lol Interesting they made it to small for standard cut wood, but not to big of a deal. I agree on something bigger for the house, but perfect for being out camping. Let the pup in the video. lol Thanks for the share.
Haha... He better stay away from me with those tongs!! They are huge! And I think the pup will start joining us more often for our outdoor videos... Hope y'all are having a great week!
Try buying a bag of wood that you would use in a smoker. Sometimes Walmart carries it, some grocery stores carry it. The logs are around 2/3 the length of “fire wood”. You can get Mesquite, Pecan and Hickory for sure. All hard woods, Hickory being the best in my opinion. I think I paid $16.00 for a bag last time I bought it.
Thanks! We have really enjoyed our Ranger, and we just got the bigger version (The Bonfire), and we are loving it for a more permanent fire pit at our house.
Thanks! We have loved it, and now we're saving for the bigger one to be a permanent addition to our new house in TX... we move in TWO WEEKS! :). Hope y'all have a great week!
Question. Once the solo stove is hot you can’t just move it unless you have fire gloves or something I’m guessing. In the event of a sudden down pour, or if you need to cool the stove off in a hurry what effect does water have on the stove? Thank you for you service.
Thanks so much! We haven't had the experience of sudden rain or needing it cooled off quickly, but I would guess that the water wouldn't really have an effect on the actual stove. It's just more or less a metal bucket with holes in it, so I'm guessing the water would put out the fire and then it would leak out or have to be poured out. Either way, it shouldn't do any damage or anything. Maybe long term damage if the water sits in the bottom for a long time or if the solo stove sits in standing water for a while. We will have to use the water hose next time we have a fire. Just to see what it does! I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great week!
Good to hear that it doesn't leave marks. Do you use the separate stand ring for it? I'm looking to buy one but can't get the stand for a reasonable price in the UK.
We bought the bundle and it came with the stand, so everything you saw with the stove came with the stand. Hopefully you can just order the bundle and won't have to buy the stand separately.
Great review. We have something like this only on a smaller scale. It is called a BioLite camp stove. Love the concept of this fire pit though. Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks! We did a review on this when we first started our channel (and first got the solo stove), and we still get some comments on it with questions about how we like it after using it for a while, so we decided to do an update video.
I just bought the ranger. To me the big downside was the cost. It costs a lot and the things that go with it cost a lot. Being so small I think it will help later on though. I have a chainsaw so cutting a basic grocery store log in half is no issue. Even less of an issue if it lets me use double the wood and it does not use too much wood.
I agree about the cost being a downside. I hope that the amount you save on wood (and getting double the use from a bundle) will eventually make it feel like it was worth the money for the ranger.
At Amazon the “onlyfire Stainless Steel High Heat Charcoal Fire Grate for Kamado Joe Big Joe Grill, 12-Inch” fits the inverted top ring for cooking and stores inside the stove. Hardwood pellets work great, I use a stainless 12 oz ladle to dump them in.
@@WanderLost the Quality will blow your mind LOL we have a 22’ class C and cook outside as much as possible using the Silverfire Survivor (a twig stove) and we use the double walled Dragon Pot to have a daily supply of 1 1/2 gallons boiled water. Life is good, Blessings ! Ron
I understand! If we weren't using our car and camping in tents, we couldn't carry it with us either. It's perfect for that kind of camping though. Thanks for watching!
You have to be closer to it than a traditional fire-pit fire, but you can get closer because once the initial burn has happened, there is virtually no smoke and you don't have to worry about the fire spreading. So, I would say if you had a large group of people, it won't keep you as warm because you'd have to be further away, but if it was just a few of you and you could sit closer, then it'll keep you plenty warm. Thanks so much for checking our review out!
We love ours, but it isn't smokeless and like Ron said, it isn't great for "standard" size precut logs. We will definitely use it for camping just because it's easy and requires no clean up except to dump the ashes.
We've looked at these types of fire pits before but haven't pulled the trigger on one. Good to know if you're looking for some more "permanent" that you would get the bigger model.

We have the Bonfire too... and our review of that just came out yesterday! We love that it holds the full sized pieces too!
That is nice there is no ash to deal with. Thank you for showing us this.

I've used my ranger on three camping trips and it's already rusting...a lot. No, it has not been exposed to rain. Have you experienced this?
No, we haven't. We primarily use ours in the backyard and it has gotten wet a couple of times. I'm sorry yours rusted.
Have you used it /stored it close to the coast?

I think for two or three people the Ranger is the perfect size. Like Grandpa's Console TV, over time, those larger ones will feel too large.
That makes perfect sense. We end up using the ranger more often when it's just us too.

Silky Saw would be a great addition. I just ordered a Ranger, thank you for the review.
