As an old head who didn’t think it was possible. They did it this is definitely the best Transformers movie completely blew me away. The ending had the entire theater on the edge of their seats.
This has basically been Optimus’ origin since 2010 when Hasbro started the Aligned Continuity. The War for Cybertron games, the netflix series and even Transformers Prime.
As an old head, I really enjoyed the movie. But the biggest praise I can give to this film is that I believe it can be what G1 was for me, for a new generation
I too, love the way they used the incredibly rich lore of previous continuities. And not just a superficial way. They built those refrences/inspirations/lore elements into the story. For ex, Megtaron's low caste miner origin is taken from thr IDW comics. Starscream's backstory was inspired by his Aligned continuity one. The cogless bots unable to transform during the rule of the Quintessons come from the G1 series. It's just so cool. Also I agree with you on your hot take. This movie is better than the 86 one.

Saj Productions I know Peter Cullen is your childhood hero and all since he’s a legend among the greatest voice actors of all time. But this is like a teenage Optimus or Orion so they got a younger celebrity actor to voice a younger Optimus.
@anthonylogiudice9215 I think he still has a couple more live action movies in him before they go down the James earl jones Vader route and begin working with him to preserve his voice forever with AI work. I know it’s controversial to some but for characters like this it’s honestly essential, and Star Wars has been doing it with Vader for about 3 years now so it can work. We’re not there yet tho, as Cullen has expressed his desire to do voice work has not ceased

couldn’t agree more man, i go in with very low expectation.. came out speechless by how amazing it is.. i went to see it again the next day and i watch it 3 times now. i really hope people will set aside all that early comment about oh the movie didn’t look good etc and give this movie a chance to see it while in theaters, cause i think transformers movie we’re meant to be experience in the biggest screen possible and this one was the one to be watch in theaters
In Transformers One Starscream was once the leader the High Guard before D16 tookover the leadership, becomes Megatron and called themselve Decepticons. What D-16/Megatron did to Sentinel Prime is brutal by tearing up his body into pieces but to be honest he definately got what he deserved anyway since Sentinel Prime is the main antagonist of this movie.
I hope they explore the dynamic between Megatron and Starscream in the next one a bit. They really set things up for some strife to come up between them.
This is what I wanted the Michael Bay movie to be when it came out. In my mind as a kid Transformers was a dark story and not the comical mess that the live action movie I had waited 25 years for turned out to be . Well done ..... Awesome 😎 OH I ALMOST FORGOT....... I would not call this a kids movie. It's typical because it is animated. No, it is a family movie. I love the 86 movie, but more for nostalgia and how it is part of the things that shaped my geekdom. But this One is objectively much better movie in all aspects. I mean Optimus Prime IS the hero. As an OG fan. The moment before he became a prime, got me nervous haha. Fantastic movie.
Couldn’t agree more. You said it best, it’s not a kids movie…It’s a family movie that has enough in it for literally everybody sitting down to watch it to enjoy. The kids will enjoy the whole ride, while the older fans will be able to appreciate every little bit that is sprinkled throughout the entire movie that will go over many of the casual viewers and kids heads
All I'm sayin' is that if they took this movie and used it as the basis for a remake of "More than Meets the Eye" part 1 - 3 as a feature length film, it could be the most awesome Transformers movie yet.

I saw the movie already. When I hear the voice of Orion/Optimus, I didn't hear Thor, the same as when I hear Mario, I didn't hear starlord. Mr. Hemsworth really did make the character his own and that's not bad.

The only sad part was the theater was shockingly empty. Maybe 10 people in attendance. If the box office doesn't pick up, this might be a one and done.

As a hardcore G1 fan, I agree. ONE takes the top spot now as the GREATEST most accurate TFs story ever told. The '86 movie can now rest and guard the 2nd place with honor. My 10yr old self can now have peace.
As a card carrying "old head," I'll say this: I love G1 for the nostalgia it brings BUT I also really liked the first few bayverse movies, beast wars and Prime. I'm okay with some changes being made to tighten up the universes to an extent so long as the overall feeling fits ..

I am pushing 51 this year. I was 13 when the 86 movie dropped, and yes, I considered it the greatest transformers movie, discarding the Michael Bay rubbish. But this movie... it was wonderful. I still have a cozy spot in my heart for the 86 movie, however, this new one is my new favorite :)
Paramount said that this was gonna be a prequel to the live action films, but that makes no sense if sentinel is dead, unless there finally confirming this has been a reboot since bumblebee
This is a brand new continuity. Never listen to paramount listen to the directors. Lorenzo is the head of all this and doesn’t know what he’s doing at all. He tried connecting every animated product and live action including this early on- but it’s a separate continuity
Gonna be new timeline, and I'm excited for the sequel tho I wish they didn't skip through the quintesson war and make it the/part of the plot on the sequel.
They should have Peter Cullen come back for Transformers TWO. Have a battle in the next movie where everyone has injuries and Optimus Prime has his voice box messed with where the others help fix eachother and then Peter starts speaking. That would blow everyone's minds making their earth transition more fantastic.
I totally see why people would want this but personally I think and hope they just keep hemsworth in this continuity permanently. Let this be its own thing, and let this franchise STAY on Cybertron. We have enough earthbound stories
Me my dad and my brother watched TF one today. My dad grow up in the 80s and watched G1 and we all watched TF one. it's so good that my dad loves it and he likes some references of G1
Best continuity so far. The animation is fit for people of all ages, and the action is on par with bayverse, G1 movie and Prime. Having Orion and D share the same life experience, makes Optimus choosing the narrow path weight more. Having Sentinel steal the cogs from all bots makes everything make more sense, TBH previous continuities didn't satisfy me cuz bots were rebelling against having to do what they were CREATED to do. This time around they were more than meets the eye, and born for a greater purpose than slaving away to rust in mines. Elita should have shown some more character development, and not just be a cavewoman lol Hopefully TF TWO will make her and Bee get better character arcs.
Don’t think it’s a bad movie at all but it’s definitely a buddy story not really focused on transformers. Everyone loved those Cybertron scenes but it’s 2 minutes out of 2 hours . After that movie all anyone wanted was a full feature length film just based around that opening sequence
Just came back from the theater digging into all the spoiler reviews now. It was AWESOME! I wanted to watch it again immediately after it ended, that's how you know it's good. I have to agree with some others here though, I still think the 86 movie is better but also like others have said, it had a whole lot of build up. Whereas this movie IS the build up for this continuity. The next two movies, which they hopefully get to do, could be absolutely incredible.
My minor criticism is that it easily could have had another half hour if not hour, it's so fast in it's pacing it needed the relatively simple storyline so that audiences wouldn't get lost
Transformers Prime is my favorite incarnation of Transformers. While TFOne doesn’t dethrone it for me, it’s absolutely up there, wrestling for second place with Beast Wars. Edit: Also want to add in regards to the music, Brian Tyler, who did the score for the film, also scored TFPrime, which is probably why the Prime score shows up a few times in the film.
I saw it today, and IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I went in with "this is going to be fun", and left in awe. The soundtrack and visuals were amazing. Bee was annoying af tho lol. Most looking forward to a sequel. I have the G1 movie (the Unicron one?) and both of these are my number 1 for different reasons.
This was awesome! I had a great time watching it. I would've appreciated a longer, more mature story but wow this was fun! Also i would've loved to see more in regards to the quintessons.
SPOILER What I felt to be really special about Pax's descent to Primus was how the music shared the same motif from Optimus dying in the 1986 movie. While people were crying over Optimus in that film, people were cheering over the death of Sentinel with the same music in this film. Beautiful work.
There was a point in this movie where Chris Hemsworth becomes way more 'Peter Cullen'. I believe it was after he goes through his first change and starts to become a leader.
I’m going to see this tomorrow, while I didn’t know transformers in my childhood I totally would have been a transformers kid. I loved transformers prime which was my introduction to the universe and I am happy to hear good things about this movie.

I also appreciate how genuinely evil and egocentric Sentinel was even though he hated monologues and therefore never had one. Him cutting Alpha Trion short was brutal. I personally liked Elita’s pep talk to Orion, I struggle a lot with feeling inferior to others and took her speech to heart.
I was looking for him on the rewatch but didn’t see him 😔 maybe I just missed him somewhere or didn’t recognize his design being that the bumblebee/cliff design isn’t as iconically recognizable as it is like g1 in this movie. Harder to pick out in all the big group shots
Apart from the optimus and megatron backstory, it was gd to know that chris hemsworth consulted peter cullen for optimus voice. Would been better if peter cullen cameoed as one of the 13 primes voices(if the 13 primes have more screentime/voices)
Yes! It was excellent! The same actor who voiced him in the bumblebee movie reprises his role, Jon Bailey. Unfortunately having frank welker voice Soundwave isn’t an option anymore as doing that voice is simply too taxing at his age, so Bailey is the next best option besides the eventual use of ai like Darth Vader. He sounds great in the movie tho alongside shockwave and screamer
Again it was great story telling when it comes to the leaders. But G1 has so much more to give when it comes to the transformer world. Of course they are always reinventing things so who knows. I do like how they complement each other so far. G1 would have happened after this movie takes place. Cybertron gets trashed and Unicron comes to capitalize on it.
Im excited for the future of this new continuity, i LOVED it, its easily the best TF film EVER made and has potential to be the beginning of the best continuity in TF history as it has aspects of other ones to make a new one. Chris Hemsworth was phenomenal as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, i was apprehensive at first but i forgot he was being played by Hemsworth. The other VAs did just as well!!! The character designs are great and appeal to both kids and adults, and i believe it will create a new generation of fans. The fight scenes were amazing and made me awestruck, and some shots gave me chills. Pacing felt adequate and easy to follow along, however it might be confusing to people largely not aware of broader Transformers lore Overall, this is a must-watch and you will be talking and thinking about it for a long time.
Not going to argue maybe. I agreed with you that it was a well made movie. However to say they bested G1 is ignorant slander. It's not a fair comparison for one. G1 has hundreds of awesome characters that don't get a spot light. G1 us more then 20 episodes that gives you a large amount of spirit and adds originality. The movies are just trying to reinvent attention whores. I'm not going to say main characters ain't making the money, but when it comes to entertaining storys it comes from the G1s. I love how the transformers prime theme the Michael bay Optimus prime theme and the Bayformers main theme. But it depicted the pre-war great. TF:prime I will always love because how they kill a main character not 10 minutes of the first episode of the first season. Let’s be real though if there was a movie about the war itself Would be rated R. The war of cybertron ngl to make a comparison here makes WW2 look like a bar fight. The Decepticons were brutal in their conquest. Also remember he isn’t Optimus prime he is Origin pax not yet a prime until later.

Honestly, this is the one movie I wish they had, the movie would have been so much better without him.
I saw Sentinel and he is like a mix of DOM, WFC and Animated including the personalities. I think this might be a definitive version.
I feel a lot more Animated vibes from him than the others, surprisingly. He just had that absolute dickhead energy.

i watched it to it was beautiful. shoot man i didnt cry at marley and me but this brought a tear to my eye. it actually felt like transformers.
Marley had no reason to cry except if you really care about Shasha. It was more shocking and unique if anything

They should have Peter Cullen come back for Transformers TWO. Have a battle in the next movie where everyone has injuries and Optimus Prime has his voice box messed with where the others help fix eachother and then Peter starts speaking. That would blow everyone's minds making their earth transition more fantastic.
I totally see why people would want this but personally I think and hope they just keep hemsworth in this continuity permanently. Let this be its own thing, and let this franchise STAY on Cybertron. We have enough earthbound stories

Me my dad and my brother watched TF one today. My dad grow up in the 80s and watched G1 and we all watched TF one. it's so good that my dad loves it and he likes some references of G1

Best continuity so far. The animation is fit for people of all ages, and the action is on par with bayverse, G1 movie and Prime.
Having Orion and D share the same life experience, makes Optimus choosing the narrow path weight more.
Having Sentinel steal the cogs from all bots makes everything make more sense, TBH previous continuities didn't satisfy me cuz bots were rebelling against having to do what they were CREATED to do. This time around they were more than meets the eye, and born for a greater purpose than slaving away to rust in mines.
Elita should have shown some more character development, and not just be a cavewoman lol
Hopefully TF TWO will make her and Bee get better character arcs.

2018 Bumblebee Movie, i think is the best especially the Cybertron scenes. Nothing compares.
Don’t think it’s a bad movie at all but it’s definitely a buddy story not really focused on transformers. Everyone loved those Cybertron scenes but it’s 2 minutes out of 2 hours . After that movie all anyone wanted was a full feature length film just based around that opening sequence
Just came back from the theater digging into all the spoiler reviews now. It was AWESOME! I wanted to watch it again immediately after it ended, that's how you know it's good.
I have to agree with some others here though, I still think the 86 movie is better but also like others have said, it had a whole lot of build up. Whereas this movie IS the build up for this continuity. The next two movies, which they hopefully get to do, could be absolutely incredible.

My minor criticism is that it easily could have had another half hour if not hour, it's so fast in it's pacing it needed the relatively simple storyline so that audiences wouldn't get lost
This needs a sequel for sure. Perhaps a TV series and dwelling more in to the original 13 Primes and the battle against Unicron.

Transformers Prime is my favorite incarnation of Transformers. While TFOne doesn’t dethrone it for me, it’s absolutely up there, wrestling for second place with Beast Wars.
Edit: Also want to add in regards to the music, Brian Tyler, who did the score for the film, also scored TFPrime, which is probably why the Prime score shows up a few times in the film.
I saw it today, and IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I went in with "this is going to be fun", and left in awe. The soundtrack and visuals were amazing. Bee was annoying af tho lol. Most looking forward to a sequel.
I have the G1 movie (the Unicron one?) and both of these are my number 1 for different reasons.

What I felt to be really special about Pax's descent to Primus was how the music shared the same motif from Optimus dying in the 1986 movie. While people were crying over Optimus in that film, people were cheering over the death of Sentinel with the same music in this film. Beautiful work.
There was a point in this movie where Chris Hemsworth becomes way more 'Peter Cullen'. I believe it was after he goes through his first change and starts to become a leader.

I’m going to see this tomorrow, while I didn’t know transformers in my childhood I totally would have been a transformers kid. I loved transformers prime which was my introduction to the universe and I am happy to hear good things about this movie.
If prime was your introduction you certainly won’t be disappointed!!

I also appreciate how genuinely evil and egocentric Sentinel was even though he hated monologues and therefore never had one. Him cutting Alpha Trion short was brutal.
I personally liked Elita’s pep talk to Orion, I struggle a lot with feeling inferior to others and took her speech to heart.

I was looking for him on the rewatch but didn’t see him 😔 maybe I just missed him somewhere or didn’t recognize his design being that the bumblebee/cliff design isn’t as iconically recognizable as it is like g1 in this movie. Harder to pick out in all the big group shots
Apart from the optimus and megatron backstory, it was gd to know that chris hemsworth consulted peter cullen for optimus voice. Would been better if peter cullen cameoed as one of the 13 primes voices(if the 13 primes have more screentime/voices)

Yes! It was excellent! The same actor who voiced him in the bumblebee movie reprises his role, Jon Bailey. Unfortunately having frank welker voice Soundwave isn’t an option anymore as doing that voice is simply too taxing at his age, so Bailey is the next best option besides the eventual use of ai like Darth Vader. He sounds great in the movie tho alongside shockwave and screamer

Again it was great story telling when it comes to the leaders. But G1 has so much more to give when it comes to the transformer world. Of course they are always reinventing things so who knows. I do like how they complement each other so far. G1 would have happened after this movie takes place. Cybertron gets trashed and Unicron comes to capitalize on it.

Im excited for the future of this new continuity, i LOVED it, its easily the best TF film EVER made and has potential to be the beginning of the best continuity in TF history as it has aspects of other ones to make a new one.
Chris Hemsworth was phenomenal as Orion Pax/Optimus Prime, i was apprehensive at first but i forgot he was being played by Hemsworth. The other VAs did just as well!!!
The character designs are great and appeal to both kids and adults, and i believe it will create a new generation of fans.
The fight scenes were amazing and made me awestruck, and some shots gave me chills.
Pacing felt adequate and easy to follow along, however it might be confusing to people largely not aware of broader Transformers lore
Overall, this is a must-watch and you will be talking and thinking about it for a long time.

Not going to argue maybe. I agreed with you that it was a well made movie. However to say they bested G1 is ignorant slander. It's not a fair comparison for one. G1 has hundreds of awesome characters that don't get a spot light. G1 us more then 20 episodes that gives you a large amount of spirit and adds originality. The movies are just trying to reinvent attention whores. I'm not going to say main characters ain't making the money, but when it comes to entertaining storys it comes from the G1s. Little respect goes along way. Also lastly G1s got way more power then any prediceseer. G1s keep it real to at least to present date. Peace
I love how the transformers prime theme the Michael bay Optimus prime theme and the Bayformers main theme. But it depicted the pre-war great.
TF:prime I will always love because how they kill a main character not 10 minutes of the first episode of the first season.
Let’s be real though if there was a movie about the war itself Would be rated R. The war of cybertron ngl to make a comparison here makes WW2 look like a bar fight. The Decepticons were brutal in their conquest.
Also remember he isn’t Optimus prime he is Origin pax not yet a prime until later.
I got 3 Sonic movie 3 posters because there was only 3 other people in my theater.
They really should do a transformers Cybertron AAA movie series.
