For those who build out $250,000 (and up) camera rigs for major productions, 24V B-mount will help keep those packages more compact, flexible and expandable. But V-mount will keep my film equipment going for a while yet, and if I’m fortunate enough to direct a project budgeted for the new Alexa 35 or similar, the rental houses will take care of the power issues as well.
Speaking from experience, I've managed to have my V-Mount Battery pop off while in use. Usually handheld, and usually when camera is pressed close to my body when going low to ground. Sometimes pressure from my knee or thighs have caused it. Sometimes my actual hand. Either way, I've done it, and do it maybe once or twice in a given year. Never had that happen when I used Gold Mount while in college. Hmm. Either way, down the road I do plan on upgrading to B-Mount. Instead of making the switch to Gold Mount like I had initially planned, I'll do the switch to B Mount. Will probably need it for my URSA Mini Pro 16K VistaVision.
V-mount is affordable and high quality (provided you get a decent brand in the first place). I've worked in broadcast media and documentary features for around 12 years and not once have I had a V-mount battery pop off or come disconnected. This includes run & gun shoulder action and car rigs. B-mount is crazy expensive and unless the vast majority of gear I use make the switch, nether will I.
Heyyy!!! Super excited, I just bought my first prosumer camera BMPCC 6K pro with v mount system! Can't wait for 5 days before I get to touch it with my hands! 😭❤️
@@FrameVoyager Hey! You've got 1 video in every folder or "series", I suppose your Abandoned Camera series can just go in one folder and so on, it'll be easier to navigate by date.
I honestly cant speak for gold mount. But really the only time i have ever had issues with V-lock batteries is on the Red One. And i mostly at the time put this down to the odd design of that cameras battery plate being mounted on the rails separately and connected via a cable resulting in some pretty odd battery orientations at times. Also with how power hungry that camera was You would either need to be running huge 250-300WH batteries or else be swapping batteries every 45ish min. So the plates got a lot of wear on them.

Absolutely! The new battery system totally makes sense! But if you're just a contractor or freelancer, you don't need it yet
