Cinematic Orchestra is a bit more of the traditional structure, but they would destroy a cover of this - and Stereolab would completely and utterly rock any CO track one could name
Wow-she plays trombone too! Wish I had been there! I will also say R.I.P. Mary. This was a very unique band and it was through my love of Stereolab that I found out about so many other types of music I had not previously considered. I listened to Jorge Ben based on an interview with Lætitia, now I love MPB. Also Krautrock especially Neu! Thanks Stereolab!
Came across some tunes that led to listening to Stereolab again (hadn't done so in probably 15 years or so)...Felt like hearing Parsec. Go to youtube, type-type-type-search-play live vid. Realization: I AM IN THIS AUDIENCE! Second Realization: If I somehow see my younger-self in this video--going to FLIP OUT!
@@odysseychl4925 I've been coming back to this just to check on this comment haha. I hope that person's alright because I really want to see them play this in the style of the recording. I've been working on a transcription but only have the first 8 bars and no where close to tempo
The rhythm section slaps, Mary's voice pops and Laetitia whips out a bloody TROMBONE this band is perfect
God bless Mary. R.I.P LEGEND
Discovered this band in 2021, love this song wow
Basically my favorite live jazz group

They are not a jazz group, I think
@@mugreo This is definitely fusion but I think indie band/group is the most overarching term
@@mugreo cause the album version is drum and bass lol

you should give Clube da Esquina a chance, there are plenty of songs with the same sort of sentimentality
I love the regular version of parsec but it's so much more funkier and groovier here live, all in all I love stereolab RIP Mary

That drummer had his work cut out for him in this one.
File next to Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" in the "5/4 Grooves" playlist.
Lmao the trombone is money
so sick
Is that Mick Conroy (bassist of Modern English) on keys, I know he played with them for a year?
Everything in this world has a fan to it
Name a better band than Stereolab. I’ll wait.
"Better" is subjective.
Drummer can't actually play parasec as recorded
Not possible
@@stpaulimdog I play it as recorded everyday. Uploading a video soon
