The Eurovision Song Contest 1975 was the 20th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the 1974 contest with the song "Waterloo" by ABBA. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Radio (SR), the contest was held at Stockholmsmässan on 22 March 1975, and was hosted by Swedish television director Karin Falck. It was the first time that the contest had taken place in Sweden.
Nineteen countries participated in the contest, beating the previous record of eighteen, that was first set in the 1965 edition. France and Malta returned after their one-year and two-year absences, respectively. Turkey made its debut, while Greece decided not to enter after its debut the year prior.
The winner of the contest was the Netherlands who won with the song "Ding-a-dong", performed by Teach-In, written by Will Luikinga and Eddy Ouwens, and composed by Dick Bakker. The country would not win again until 2019.

I still can't get over the fast Germany finished in 17th place with that iconic song.
You're having a larf.
Vila i frid Lasse🕊️
Also, Turkey was really underrated❤
RIP Lasse. You'll be in every swede's and eurovision fan's heart
Ohh Joy Fleming... Germany so underrated.
Indeed. She should have won.
Turkey doesn't deserved be last...

Türkiye is underrated...
Oh, I've been waiting for you to do another of these recaps, although I acknowledge you did this out of memory for Lars Berghagen. Do you plan on doing more of these recaps for the other years Sweden hosted Eurovision in the lead up to the 2024 contest?
Yes. More recaps will be coming. 👍
@@SchlagerLucas Yay, I can't wait! I'm surprised no one else has done eurovision recaps like these in high quality. It's long overdue. One day, all the contests will have recaps like these.
@@SchlagerLucasWill you update the memorial video ? , maybe in May ?
Wonderful quality, thanks
I love the winner.
My top 10 is:
10) Malta (12th) -> There's sun in it and I like it.
09) Italy (3rd) -> I like it but it got outranked by the other ones.
08) Portugal (16th) -> A very nice entry (and I'm not fond of Portuguese entries).
07) Ireland (9th) -> Gleeful.
06) France (4th) -> We knew how to make sweet songs back then.
05) Finland (7th) -> Not what I usually listen to but I really like that one.
04) United Kingdom (2nd) -> That feels so 70's.
03) Norway (18th) -> How the hell did this wonderful song finish second last?
02) Germany (17th) -> Same concern. That song is iconic.
01) Netherlands (1st) -> At least, the winner was worthy.
Finally someone who finds Norway 1975 as touching as I do. I loved this song as a kid and I still do ❤. This was overall one of the best years in ESC, so many gems there.
R.I.P Lars🕊
I was wondering if you would do your personal top for the years 2014 and 2016?
0:01 my name is also Lars!
Very weak year in my opinion, I only really liked Turkiye, Italy, Germany, Finland and UK

Can I ask you from what country you are? I only need an Austrian! 🇦🇹
I think Italy should have won, Turkey should have been top 5 and Malta should have received Null points!
Im quite happy Malta got some points despite having a bad song, because look at their placements before, they probably would Leave and never come back if they score nul points here
The Shadows had the best song and gave the audience a little taste of the great Marvin/Welch/Farrar harmony style to those who could appreciate it. Unfortunately Bruce Welch's error at the beginning with the lyrics relegated the UK to second place AGAIN! Let Me Be The One charted higher in the UK than Teach In's Dinge, Dinge Dong.
and I have noticed that Switzerland & Sweden have the same backing vocalists
Yes, as well as Portugal and Belgium. They were called The Dolls, and they also did backing vocals for The Nova for Sweden in 1973.
@@SchlagerLucas I wonder why The Dolls did the backing vocalists for these countries
Annica Risberg, Kerstin Bagge and Kerstin Dahl (The Dolls) were backing vocalists in Melodifestivalen 1969-1978. Melodifestivalen often has a "huskör ("house choir") and dancers that helps out with all the acts, for the artist who doesn't bring their own backup singers and dancers. It's probably less expensive to hire those who are already there, than for every artists to bring their own.
Turkiye has no backing vocalist tho, I don't know why
same for Norway
Shlomo arzi is the most succeful singer in israel , and yes he is still performing
my favourite ones are Turkey and Germany they should have been in top 5 at least
Yugoslavia deserved better place. So underated.
