Mac tonight scared the hell out of me as a kid.. that is until i saw him at a parade and he fell face first, for a minute we couldn't tell whether or not the mask made a makeshift guillotine
Cannot wait for those future videos! There's something about that era of TV that is just the best. We had lots of weird and wonderful shows here in Australia that remind me very much of these.

I also used to be scared really easily as a kid since I have a very strong imagination that seems to be getting ten times more vivid when it gets dark outside for some reason... And funnily enough, I also have some memories of getting scared by Pettson and Findus in my childhood, though in my case it was mainly the books, which I think are absolutely amazing since they are so beautifully illustrated! I remember one specific illustration though, from the book in which Pettson and Findus camp in a tent and go fishing and they want to catch this huge pike but end up not catching it, and when they go to sleep, Findus has these nightmares about a giant pike coming into the tent at night - this was illustrated with a very creepy and unsettling (at least for a child) drawing of a pike's head peeking into the dark tent, it even gave me nightmares, especially since my parents would read those books to me for bedtime. I'm not sure if I got the descriptions right, it's been a while since I've opened the books but I'll try to find them again and see if it's still as scary as it was back then! As always, I've really enjoyed your video, they always give me a lot of food for thought about these things I haven't thought about for a while :-)
And that's not even the creepiest part about Pettson, in my opinion. Those weird, sped up segments during the "lucköppning" creeps me out so much. That weird music that plays along with it... just really uncanny. Cool to hear someone talk about my favorite calendar.
I'm too young to remember that part and I can't find it anywhere! I need to find it now!😯 The music throughout the whole calendar has a kind of unhinged sound. I like it.

That's another creepy moment, because something is happening to the audio when the thieves are stealing the tools, making their voices sound really distorded and weird.
The second you said kid's shows.... those damn goblins from Noddy!!! Also I was a kid when House of Wax came out, and the poster art scared the bejesus out of me. I've never told anyone but I was afraid to go to the toilet for ages because I somehow believed the wax woman would come through the toilet, grab my ass and kill me. I love how that somehow made sense.
The noise Goofy made when he fell down a hole (or the Coyote) scared the heck out of me. It was the call of someone falling into the abyss and gave me existential dread.
One thing should be mentioned about skrotnisse is that their hands are actual human hands. So these puppets are really big. And that also added to that odd feeling of them being right between real and not. I remember also being scared of skrotnisse but loving it at the same time. I got it on dvd and showed it to my kids. They didnt seem too interested. And also it didnt seem to scare them. Everyone has their own fears I suppose.

I grew up in anglophone Canada, and part of our elementary school curriculum was to learn French as a second language. Our French teacher would sometimes get us to watch this TV show during class called "Téléfrançais" and the main character was this talking pineapple puppet (L'ananas). I remember it freaked all of us out lol We all found the show pretty funny and entertaining for the most part, but L'ananas was so unsettling to look at. If I had to describe him, he kinda looked like if a Furby was a burn victim 😅
When I was a kid, my mother had two favorite things, The X Files and Steven King and the whole family have this favorite memory of me jumping on the coach one evening, during a nasty X Files episode, where a creature was able to slip through vents and doorknobs, i was begging the grownups to watch the news (which I was famous for hating, because they bored me to death, but I had to be silent or at least behave, and at the mighty age of 5 this was top notch torture). Maybe it was an uncanny valley thing as this bs was too real, and where do you hide from a humanoid that can get thin as a paper. Also, the way I know that I would be the first to be unalived in a horror movie is when I was coming one evening home from school, and reached my apartment building, called the elevator and a strange dude with a woolen hat and a scarf appeared and stood over me like an omen. I totally froze, no sound, no movement, then turns out it was my uncle, laughing his ass off - "Why didn't you run?" Trust no one, act, be scared later was the important lesson, but come on, dude, try a conversation about safety in dark winter nights as a first educational step 😂
Oh yeah, I know that episode! I think I was too scared to watch the x files most of the time. I think I would probably freeze up like that too if that happened to me as a kid! At least it stuck with you! Maybe you know that you should run away these days 🤣
When I was a kid, I always loved horror. I’m not really sure what the reason was but I just did. I read a lot of horror kids books and I DID have a wild imagination when it came to that. Two things that scared the crap outta me. Night of the living dummy and the movie Monster House. I think I had a dream about it but my memory isn’t so good. Now if I were to watch that movie again I would! I had good memories of that despite being scared. 😅
I had Night of the living dummy on vhs back in the day! Maybe you're talking about the book though. The live action version ever really scared me but I watched over and over.
8:19 I think we had a short runtime of this calendar in Finland. If I had known it had such creepy undertones, I probably would have watched it. As a Halloween person myself, I've started to appreciate Christmas again as an adult, but most Christmas specials haven't fallen under my radar (yet).
Oh, really? Do you have your own tv calendars too each year in Finland?😊 There are a lot of good adaptations of A Christmas Carol if you ever feel like something spooky and Christmas related. The Muppets Christmas Carol is really great if you like gothic ghost stories.

(antagonist) It's humor has captivated adults and children alike, and it's only done with three actors even though it has six character's.
Chris sorry to tell ya but if you had grown up around me as a kid and I know what scared you me and my friends would have scared the pee out of you for laughs. When I was 11 I grossed out my grandmothers boyfriend and made him vomit when he happened to glance at the horror movie I was watching called Blood Sucking Freaks. Everything that scared you growing up I saw as entertaining because the adults around me would tell me that's all it was.
