@@AquaBloomStudio can't wait till I have that "finally left" feeling. I've worked at this place 4 years under this Manager who seems insecure. I relate to what you said about avoidance from the boss and this person seems dismissive of me. I'm older and this manager likes younger, newer workers.... there is higher turnover among these employees though. I have a plan and I will leave and, as that time comes closer, I feel better.

I love my job and the boss who is the owner recently installed several ring security camera in the practice without warning. My team and I felt so demoralized and shocked at this behavior. This is a 5 star team that in 3 years has raised the production 2 fold. We all take courses throughout the year to better ourselves and learn new technology. Now no one wants to speak throughout the day. Internal communication is shut down, morale down the tube's and feel as though Dr no longer trust the team. Past 3 1/2 years we have exceeded goals and expectations. We had one rough month in September and now we get security cameras. Very disheartening. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with our boss who is also a micro manager? The team has the best interest in this practice And we truly love that doctor we work with. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

Oooh good addition. If you're so insecure, either maybe you really aren't better at your job and should be replaced, you're spending too much energy holding other people down, and you should work on your own skills. Or, alternatively, the company has a vicious "every man for himself" mentality instead of a team oriented one, so find a better business where your raise and cut of the success is going to be recognized even if you're surrounded by other talent.

Same here, I quit my job due to toxic work environment, my previous manager used to write on the board during his meetings" Welcome to Hell" .. overheard him stating to pne of his favourite employees that was asking him if I passed probation that I did not cause I was being a bitch and was playing ping pong with him.
I don't believe any of the work ethics and values anymore, I'm used to working as hard as I can to deserve my job and mind my own business but after that experience where no matter what I did to save my job or how much I followed the internal rules and regulations, I was still not enough as oppose to the ones that found a tricky way to get around doing what they are being paid for. I am unable to sit and watch how people scream at me in coffee shops across the building I work at because the boss is in a bad mood, I am unable to understand how someone can bully you in front of everyone and then act as if they are on your side, unable to see how you the verry own rules that are placed for your benefit and the organisation's goals are turned against you for the sake of a drinking work culture that puts mothers out of work and normal families that want to make a living in disgrace.

I've found out over the years that bosses are biased. They love certain employees and hate certain others. The worst part is it has nothing to do with what kind of employee you are. You can be reliable, dependable, hard working, always on time, never leave early, and get the job done. But if the boss doesn't like you for whatever reason, he will treat you like crap and always look for reasons to chew you out and blame you for anything that goes wrong. On the other hand, if the boss likes you, you can be habitually late, screw off on the job, and make tons of mistakes, and the boss will always make excuses for you.

As a team, although not perfect or always in sync, collectively, we all care, and are dutiful workers. We get the job done. We pulled the months off without any glitches and thought it was silly that we would be getting a manager eventually. The new hire may need the job, but our needs as an operating team are few.

A lack of praise/recognition,, micromanagement, over-criticism (coming to me only with things I did wrong or to tell me to do something that diverts from my work) and not listening to feedback (or just dismissing it) are things my new management have done that have tanked my morale and made me way less productive at work. It's hard to push yourself when you feel like your management just doesn't care.

I once wrote feedback for my manager stating I would like to be designated tasks, ( those were simple things like preparing birthdays or birthday vouchers) to help with team bounding since it was a new team and no one knew one another. He took it as an offence, mastered a diabolical plan where he took us outside the organisation's offices to pay for coffee, thanked us for the feedback and positioning himself right across the table from me screamed outloud "I know I fucking suck at delegating" looking right at me, so he knew that I wrote it, ( altough it was meant to be an anonymous feedback). From that moment on, my life in that organisation was a living HELL and he made sure in his sick and twisted mind to let me know it was my way of paying for what he believed to be criticism to his management style by writing on a chalk board " WELCOME TO HELL" during one of our team meetings. The rest of the team were trying to play along with his sick and twisted games because everyone was afraid of loosing their job, he revenged on everyone that had the guts to talk or even breave in that office. Unfortunately, I was raised to give people the benefit of the doubt and when others told me of how wierd he is acting or that he was high or that he was promoting people based on office " relationships" etc etc, I chose to stay out or took his side in many occasions by stating his wierd behavious could have been down to other factors. But the joke was on me from the moment I met this person to the verry end. I wish nothing as such to anyone in the world. Treating people kindly or minding your own business DOES NOT pay your bills, or save your sanity.

If it's only negative, employee's are going to be emotionally burnt out and unmotivated to want to work for you. Why would anyone want to go the extra effort to be exceptional when all they've ever been told is how they keep messing up and only that. Managers undervalue the ROI of treating their team with respect and actually forging healthy relationships. Especially when employee's are genuinely working hard and trying their best, that cant go unnoticed. If you want to coach and develop employee's, it's extremely important to tell them theyre doing a good job or that at least their hard work is appreciated - even if there are small mistakes here and there, allow them to grow, encourage them, and dont beat them down.

He took me to lunch and try to tell me how he values me and was willing to give me a higher salary. BUT despite being aware of the problem why I’ve been so demoralised at work, he refuses to make any changes to the way we work and keep it the way it is. Keeping the way it is means, to continue to act like a robot, and get a slightly higher salary to shut up, and be happy to come to work. I told him I quit.

What I get frustrated with more than anything, and it happens quite frequently, is when a boss says "How long have you been working here, you should know this by now." Keep in mind, this is in the contextual situation of approaching the boss about the self-same issue. So its like being shot down and humiliated at the same time. I want to come back with this "How long have I been working here. You should know how long it takes for me to learn certain things by now. Because if I just was lazy or uncooperative, I would be GONE BY NOW". I may have a learning disability and it takes me longer to learn some things than others but it is never because I am just being lazy. But I am tired of the 'one-size fits all mentality" that many bosses do.

She always assumed I needed help and would come over to me herself or send someone else over, only for the other person to end up confused as to why they were sent over when I was perfectly fine. it feels degrading when your manager doesn't trust you to do a job that you're more than capable of doing. She would also separate me from conversations with other co-workers and always had something for me to do or came up with something to keep me away from everyone else. And when I was managing juniors or small teams, I essentially did the opposite of what this boss did with me, and luckily I've had nothing but good feedback. I've had people I worked with stop and chat in the street and say I helped them a lot. But with this old manager of mine, sometimes I see him in the street and I still can't help but laugh as I walk past and ignore him.

My boss would always have one or two people on the team he would target to really bully and demoralize until they quit/got fired. When they’d leave, he’d just find a new team member as the new victim and start the cycle all over again. Statistically speaking, only 1 out of 3 employees would make it to the 1 year mark.

Talking to your employees like they're children. My boss end runs me every to try to do something to better myself or position in the company. She either sabotages my meetings or puts me in a position where it's nearly impossible to do my job or focus on my commitments in this job. She'll also constantly give me work way below my job skills.

My last boss would constantly tell me I'm not strong enough, or fast enough, or you're just not a man. The Job was landscaping and I was very green, even though that I'm in college for plant sciences and landscaping and had tons of experience on organic farms. My boss would also constantly tell me that I was stupid, and the tasks where easy enough even a child could do it. He never took the time to explain anything properly, he immediately thought after showing us one time that we would exactly how to do it without making any mistakes, even though neuroscience says it takes one month to get used to doing anything. He would go after us for minor mistakes, or no mistakes a sane person could see, then make us do it all over again, even though it didn't need it. Not to mention if he wants us to be that precise then he should have given us precision tools. Like for instance instead of using a blower around flower beds, just use a push broom, then I wouldn't missed any dirt between the driveway and the flower beds. After a while I would just play it safe, I would just ask him what do you want, or where do you want it, even if I already knew, to avoid him telling me no do it this way, and telling the other employees he's screwing it up again. Its like he wants me to think, and be independent, but give me no opportunity or time to do it. Hell his ability to communicate in general is limited, his vocabulary it is so basic, all it does is confuse me, because I have a terrific vocabulary, and honestly I would have to spend half the time with him just correcting everything he says if I had the time.

I used to work for Wackenhut Security in downtown Houston, the one thing that was most encouraged by management was employees ratting each other out. Every time I turned around I was constantly being called into the office for stupid little things. The manager was keeping lists of everything I was getting ratted out for. I was constantly being written up. This was harassment, intended to drive us out because we weren’t desperately dedicated to the corporate vision.

Love it when they refuse to call their own disorganization, poor communication and terrible management skills what it is: CHAOS and incompetence. The label they always give it is, "in process". This is all 'in process'. "You can't expect to get straightforward answers from us because we don't know yet. This is all "IN PROCESS". They tell you to do something exactly a certain way, their way, one day, then later say "oh, we're not doing it that way anymore, we're doing it this way", without ever telling YOU, the person doing it that the method had changed (that they changed their MINDS). CHAOS. But they call it "in process".

Don’t forget about the toxic employee farm. That last scenario where you have that one employee that would “make everything better” if he just left? How many of those were previously a productive employee that you never trusted, didn’t notice, never thanked or rewarded, consistently shot down feedback from, and all of a sudden he’s “toxic”. Sure, the symptom will go away when he leaves (he’s probably actively job hunting), but don’t kid yourself that it fixes the problem.

Supervisors will NEVER eliminate the toxic person in a workplace. Upon close examination many times the manager aligns themselves with the toxic person whether he/she likes them or not because the toxic person is a wealth of all the office gossip, drama etc. I've literally had 2 managers lament in the past about the Payton Place type environment just to see them eagerly listening to or participating in throwing coworkers under the bus. Often too these toxic folks figure out a way to make themselves indispensable to an organization or, through sheer stamina, outlast any reasonable people that want to go to their jobs solely to work versus creating chaos.
Toxic culture is here to stay sadly.

I had a boss who is so incredibly impatient. He had sent me an email about something that I already explained to him earlier - twice. He came to my desk because I had not yet seen his email. I was busy straightening out a spreadsheet. And literally, he had just sent the email seconds ago. When I didn't open the email fast enough for him he grabbed my mouse out of my hand and opened it for me and told me to respond. Mind you, I had already responded earlier and now he's in my office where I could have responded a third time verbally. Craziest thing I ever saw. I only lasted two weeks at this place because when payday came, I didn't get paid. Other reasons too like every meeting I attended devolved into yelling and cursing between my boss and everyone else. I am a professional with several professional certifications in my field and over 25 years experience. I expect a professional workplace and I expect to be paid. Unbelieveable that companies like this even survive.

We had one toxic coworker named Alabama Tick because no one could pry her loose even though the blood she was sucking from the staff was crippling the org. We had another guy named Manbaby, who was downright dangerous because he was operating in a hazardous environment using his 2 kB brain running an 8 GB program. We have two bosses, named Captain Ahab and Captain Sobel. Captain Ahab persecuted a female employee because she pointed out an ethical violation on his part. His single-minded drive for retaliation nearly destroyed the group and we were calling the group, The Pequod. Around Ahab, we would loudly say things like, "From Hell's heart, I stab at thee!" but he wouldn't get it. Captain Sobel's unhinged screamfests at women and minorities are legendary as are his false accusations and unreasonable punishments.

I was attacked by a co-worker. This coworker always calls in. Always has to leave early. They are never really "present." She is also the boss's favorite (why do boss's always pick the lazy ones to be their favorites?) Anyways, this co-worker attacked me. When the boss asked me my side. I explained it. The next day I was told I was disrespectful to my boss for the way I was telling her my side of the story.
Nothing was ever fixed about the situation. I'm still upset as the entire situation was turned to make my boss look like the victim.
I get so sick of these people in power. It's so discouraging. I feel so stuck.
I've also had a boss throw things at me but that's another story for another day. Lol

    • @aforcetobeROXANNEwith
      @aforcetobeROXANNEwith 5 років тому

Oh wow, Im learning to be the victim, turning the tables back on the devil.
Um, the new guy told me I had to do something that his position called for and that the person that was in his position used to do.
Um, at one point we collaborated on the task but a small correction needed to be made/just adding words to a letter.
Um, he wanted me to sit down and help him with that too, although I was telling him in a nice way what to put on the letter. The reason why I was telling him and not sitting down with him was so that he can take responsibility for his work and to not call me, especially on things hed get the credit for.
Why did he tell my boss I yelled at him. I didnt. I made sure not to yell because I felt thats what he wanted me to do and actually was talking low to him. The reason why I was talking low was because I emailed my boss asking if she can get him to do the task and I presented a long list of everything else I did to help him. So why would I yell at him when I just emailed my boss? Yelling wouldnt work in my favor so I was actually talking really low to him, nearly whispering saying "ok just put this one line," without sitting down.
Do you know my boss, believed him automatically. She didnt ask my side, she told me to go to job site psychologist. By the way this was done 3-4 after "the yelling."
To show you how off she is, I ended up doing the important letter that solved an issue and put it on my resume.
She signed it, but did not tell the guy. Two months later he asked me if I needed help with it, I told him it was done 2 months ago. She even kept him out of the loop.
So now when ppl gv me a hard time (which doesnt happen too often), I cry about it to be the victim and get them in trouble "for yelling at me."
Also whatever they ask me to do, even though its not my duty, I do it and put it on my resume. Sometimes bosses become
fearful that youre about to move up because youre learning/doing so much.
Basically she was trying to send me to psychologist to later use against me to try to get me fired later or hv a bad report on my clean file of 10 years. It didnt work, still standing, file no marks because I turn the tbls on their ass.

I think my very worst workplace experience was when I worked with three other employees in a department. Three of us were very productive self-starters, working in high gear all the time. One was a slacker. He took long walks, took naps, shot the bull with people in other departments, worked for hours managing a football poll, cheated on his time card, took off many Monday’s for hangovers and quit early on Fridays to go to a nearby beer joint. He basically worked maybe a total of twenty hours in a work week while the rest of us carried the bulk of what should have been his workload. I will never forget that morning that bimbo, our boss, found me busily working at my computer and demanded to know where the lout was, as he was twenty minutes late. Then she proceeded to bawl me out because he was late, even though I was never late. People were afraid to cross him or fire him because of his thinly veiled threats to sue for racial discrimination. Her solution was to promote him as team leader and divert all our future raises and bonuses to him. He celebrated his new position by becoming a narcissistic tyrant. What had been a wonderful job became a nightmare.

AAAAHHHH! I was wondering why I was getting frustrated at work. THANK YOU! Now I know! Thank you so much! I just was not allowed to think for myself at work, andultimately it made the job just utterly stiffling and not fun!
