If you look up Edible Landscaping videos on persimmons, he talks about princess persimmon and he says he eats it in February, when they are all shriveled up and dry and taste like raisins or dates. So it is edible, you just need to know when.
That bonsai is the cutest! Wish it tasted better. I have 2 Fuyu persimmons that I have to fight the birds over but they are so good and sweet! I would like to get a few more trees
great information< thanks for the video, I have 3 princess persimmon trees that I propagated with root cuttings, My goal is to have them as bonsai so I really haven't seen any fruit on any of them, may be a need a male tree for pollination, I just style all tree and the goal for this year is to let them grow to start branch development maybe they will fruit this year ( I hope ) is there a way to distinguish a male plant from a female plant?
@@BenBSeattle the Fuyu persimmon is more round no 4 edge. Jiro persimmon have 4 edges. I have the both. My tag of the tree still on the tree. And Vietnamese groups ( vuon ha ngau ) he just did a you tube to compare he did it on Vietnamese language I don't know you still speak the language. We have some Vietnamese in. U.S. do bonsai also. I don't know if you know him. Don he has around 4000 bonsai plant.

Are you sure the one you ate was ripe?
Ohh man u don't know I love Japan.
looool! Doesn't sound appetizing at all haha!
You don’t need a male for female to produce fruit however they won’t have seeds. But maybe be cross pollinated with native persimmon as well.
thx for the info
I think you have Jiro persimmon instead of Fuju persimmon.
Maybe. This was sold as fuyu from flower world

Wait a minute... "everything bitter... Earwax..." how do you know what earwax tastes like? 😂
Well this one time at band camp...
You must do what you want to do, but I like your bonsai videos better. The taste of fruit doesnot intererest me. I want to learn bonsai.
Lol you haven't been following Ben that long, prior to concentrating his efforts on Bonsai, his speciality was figs and some other rare fruit videos 😉
I love his fruit tasting videos and trust his taste buds more than most
