His video tells moments of life in a job that I have always loved! Sharing these emotions with others is very positive, congratulations Mr. Barnett! Carlo - Italy
Mr. Barnett I thank you so much for being the only engineer so far to upload videos. I hope your enjoying your retirement and thanks again for all they great videos sir
1. Thank you Mr B, for the interesting ride 2. I'm glad you figgered out how to conceal a Go Pro in your lunch bucket 3. I liked your soundtrack -- you and Stu-the-Jew have introduced me to some new vibes 4. As one ROF to another (retired old fart), keep on rocking!
My son David is 7 years old and he loves this video. He has loved trains since he could talk. He can call of any part of a train. H just told me today that he wants to be an engineer and he would like to design his own train some day. I love this little boy!!!!
Mike Barnett, I appreciate you posting these videos. I live close to a rail line and hear trains coming and going day and night. FreightCar America and NorfolkSouthern have rail yards along with a locomotive shop. Even my wife loves hearing the trains pass us, and kids go bonkers when they hear them. Big Ups bro!
I have to say I envy you Mike for the job you've done w CSX. Thanks so much for taking us along for the ride from the Captain's house. I'm a new fan of yours from the 1st state of Delaware
Just came by to say thank you for your videos. All the gratitude I'm the comments section is amazing. These are really cool. Always liked trains. And great music too. Enjoy your retirement man!
Thanks for all your awesome videos. It's the only way we can see what its like to be a Conductor, because of your videos you have given. I will look for others you have made.
I've watched a few channels of some of the unauthorized riders. While I don't encourage anyone to do it. I have seen some amazing views of our country. That normal the general public doesn't get on the highway.
Thanks you! This is the best addition to my HO train hobby. Ridding along with Engineer Mike Barnett! " Cranberry Valley Railroad" Engineer Leonard say thanks again! This is so dam cool!
Wow I just saw more of this video and I saw Grady Health Systems hospital and you did go to The Gulch by CNN Center and Atlanta wow love this video you actually went through the Section I'm doing in my garage with the locomotive inside thank you so much for making this video.😀😆🤗
My father worked for CSX back when it was SCL Seaboard Coastline then Chessie before that...yea a long time ago!! Never heard him say anything bad about his work or the company..My mom always tells me I should have followed in his footsteps!
Train engineer= Part Bus driver, Part Truck driver, part Fighter pilot in always changing ratio. :) PS. Thank you for the ride, I enjoyed every minute of it. Please don't stop recording. And i like the music.
Brother Barnett, Thank you for your interesting videos. Since i was 14 or so, I alway had a love of railroading, even after I had a career in trucking. In fact, I recently retired after 40+ years in the Teamsters, and 35 years and 6 months of working for ABF in Twin Oaks, Pa. I applied to the B&O at RG tower on January 29,1970. Was sent to Baltimore to the company doctor, but was found to be color blind. Too bad...it was a job I would have loved to have done. If I had stayed, I would have had 48 years or service....Good luck in retirement!
These are great! I've been filming trains in the same areas you operate in for my whole life! Spent a lot of time filming on the W&A and K&A. Thanks for sharing!
Josh's Aquatics & Railroad Videos he's a good man. I knew him. He and my dad worked together for years. My dad's name is James (Jimmy) hopper. Back when railroaders were true rail roading men. Shit got done back then. Now it's mostly computerized crap.
The brotherhood.. guess you’re retired too.. you wouldn’t post this unless you were! Lol! I’m retired 44 years Rock Island Mo-pac and Union Pacific. Locomotive engineer! Thanks funny how it just all stops...
Nice video you have there. I have watched all of your videos and must say that they are great. Hope you had a great career with CSX being an engineer/conductor. Just wished it was up on one of the subs that I live close to here in North Carolina, could have met you.
3RTracing Sure, just go to Hallcon.com and see if they transport in your area. There are 2 more companies in railcrew transport, but Hallcon is the best. We transport for BNSF, CN, CSX, NS, UP. Let me know what you come up with.👍👍
EARTH ANGEL😇👍 ☺️ THANK YOU for a great ride - a - long!!!🚂. FIRST time that I went for a ride THIS way!! GUY, you sure were thinking when you made this cool 😎 video! THIS ride will be a first for many😍😀!! Nice video! I really like being able to see what it is like to drive a locomotive and get to see everything from a engineer's view! I also hope you your retirement!
At 5:45 was an amazing view! Great upload of Engineer's POV from the operating seat in this great uoload! I enjoyed the close calls video also. Did you ever have any incidents that put you in emergency stop situations? Thanks again for your service! 😎👌🏾✅
I have always liked trains ever since I was 3, and of course the thing that got me interested in trains was Thomas. I am in to trains so much now, people will be like : SPEAK ENGLISH but I'm like it is. You just have to learn about trains and then you will understand it, ... a few years later: now 5 more of my friends are railfans. Awesome videos too Mike! 🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
Hi Mr Barnett, just wanted to see if you had a pic of yourself standing w a locomotive that you've run over the years to add to my railroad room I'm creating in our new home. I'll frame the picture to hang w the others that I've received from other UA-camrs. Only reason I ask is because I'm a disabled Delawarian due to my hereditary nerve disease and don't get out much. Thanks for what you've done for CSX and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
For anyone who thinks they know the cell phone policy this is from the CSX rule book. You may bring your cell phone but obviously can’t use it while the train is moving. Same for the conductor. If your stopped at a red signal I’m pretty sure you can use it if you know your stopped. Correct me if I’m wrong and thank you mike.
MrBarnett thank you for making these videos. I have loved trains for long time. How is management at CSX? I always hear negative things on how easy it is to get fired. How was management in your case?
Very enjoyable.....fellow retiree here......and Atlanta native. At about 5:30 it looks like you are crossing over the downtown connector (I-75/85) .....next to Grady Hospital, west bound. Could be coming from Hulsey Yard on the old GA. RR.
Hey mr Barnett I really enjoy you’re videos I am a train operator in Philadelphia pa for Septa and I’ve been trying to get into csx or Norfolk southern for a long time now how long have you been with csx before you got into the engineers seat
Larry McNeil I started with CSX when it was Chessie in the 70's and passed up engine service around 78 79 and again in the 80's after transferring in 2000 which affected my seniority I went into the next class..short answer when company is busy it should take 1 to 5 years to get called to engine service
There is a BNSF engineer named "TheEventRecorder" who did post railroad videos at one time. They are excellent and perhaps with enough requests, he might be willing to share them again.
Great video there Mike Barnett, looking forward to watching your other ones. I am curious, have you ever operated in and out of AK Steel located in Middletown, Oh?
Wow i am turning 55 this year, and i think this is the best ride i have ever had. Thanks Mike
His video tells moments of life in a job that I have always loved! Sharing these emotions with others is very positive, congratulations Mr. Barnett!

Mr. Barnett, thank you for your uploads from the cab of the many locomotives you have operated. I can only wish to have been a student.
Thank you for a wonderful journey sir loved it from the beginning to the end

Thank you very much for your videos🚂🚈🚈👈📲👍
Nice,,just found your channel, subbed. Great to see an engineers point of view. I transport rail crews for a living.
Dave. I live on the East West Cascade BNSF mainline in WA State. How do you land a driver position like yours? Any advice?
3RTracing Sure, just go to Hallcon.com and see if they transport in your area. There are 2 more companies in railcrew transport, but Hallcon is the best. We transport for BNSF, CN, CSX, NS, UP. Let me know what you come up with.👍👍
Love all your videos. I love trains
Mr. Barnett, thanks for your video.
Why aren’t there more engineers that make videos for you tube? So far MR. Barnett is the only one I’ve found. Great job!
Most likely because it's against company policy and can be a distraction. I know that CN doesn't even allow cell phones on their trains.
It's a FRA law that no cell phones are allowed on any railroad by the crew.
Cell phones are allowed, but they have to be shut off & stored out of sight.
We weren't even allowed to have them in our lockers.
You can't even have them in your possession! We were to have them locked in our cars, couldn't even bring them on the property!
Mike you r an awsome guy. You have a new subscriber. Enjoy your retirement.
Really good video! 12:35 that's a nice UP SD70M you're driving!

I love these kinds of details that only natives would know
I live in Chattanooga and was at a concert in Atlanta recently. I saw the traffic on the interstate and it was confirmation to me that it was Atlanta.
Mike awesome video!! Truly an incredible and interesting job to have!! How do you become certified or license to be a train engineer?
Ed Cody you would have to be employed by a railroad company and enter their engineer training program
very nice Mike😀
I want his Job so bad! That's all I'm going to apply for after I finish my four years in college.
Looks like in some of them your in old Conrail engine's I'm a big Conrail and CSX fan
Hey mr Barnett I really enjoy you’re videos I am a train operator in Philadelphia pa for Septa and I’ve been trying to get into csx or Norfolk southern for a long time now how long have you been with csx before you got into the engineers seat

Hope retirement is treating you well, Mr. Barnett.
He's a good train operator like the videos
There is a BNSF engineer named "TheEventRecorder" who did post railroad videos at one time. They are excellent and perhaps with enough requests, he might be willing to share them again.
