    A great exercise in how to paint our Aussie Bush. I look at a scene of many trees and think its way too hard, but when I see your step by step guide Mark, it really makes it so much easier. Thankyou!

      Yes, it can seem overwhelming if you think of them as individual trees :) Glad you found it useful! Cheers!

    I just love how you make life just pop out of the canvas. You are so fast and loose with your strokes. I wonder if I could do that... sometimes I will see my painting starting to pop out and I tense up and get swallowed up in detail (a sure way to lose it.)

    I love your videos and I’m learning a lot. Are you just using paint without water or anything? I’m not sure how you can spread it so much. When you first painted the background you covered half the canvas with single load of paint. I might only be able to get 4-5 strokes before it’s all off the brush. I use liquitex heavy body but I think you use something similar

      Hey David, just a bit of water usually. I use Atelier Interactive artists acrylics and Atelier Free Flow, which are both great, and usually get pretty enthusiastic/forceful about my application :) Hope that helps!

  • @samp4050
    @samp4050 3 роки тому +1

    Mark, how is the correct way to use acrylics, cos I always add a little bit of water with my acrylics, but I see you don't. Should acrylics be mixed with water or not, and if not, won't the acrylic crack after a while? Thanks. 😊

    • @ExploreAcrylics
      @ExploreAcrylics  3 роки тому +1

      I usually add a little water, it depends on the brand. You don't have to add water, but you can, it just extends the drying time a bit. You don't want to add too much as it can break down the "glue" that holds the pigment together and cause uneven results.

    I paint with oils, but would love to try this style as its different to the way I paint trees. Can I try it wet on wet or do I need to let layers dry in between colours. Also do I use a larger brush as the canvas will be larger.

    • @ExploreAcrylics
      @ExploreAcrylics  Рік тому

      Try it and see how you go! Yes to the larger brush. Give it a go wet on wet if you like, but may be a better result if you let the layers dry in between. Acrylics are fast drying though!

    Great video Mark, but too much glare on LHS....

    • @ExploreAcrylics
      @ExploreAcrylics  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Jean. That's the only trouble with Atelier Interactive, they're super glossy paints. We tried several lighting set-ups but couldn't get rid of the glare altogether unfortunately. It does get better as the video goes on and the earlier layers dry out more. Hope you got something out of it anyway!
