Out of all the tracks in Tell Your Friends, I think Slow Demon has the best 'big moment.' The syncopated drums, the electric violin, the meaty electric keyboards; they all culminate in the excellent guitar solo at the end. Glad to listen
To quote a musician friend of mine who I just turned on to the group, "With all the Bull-s#&& music that's being played today, its refreshing to know that there's still some folks that wanna do it right!!!! Snarky Puppy has just been named to my Top 3 list!!!!
STOP THE PRESSES!!!!! You mean to tell me that what was sounding like a electric guitar, was a STINKIN' VIOLIN???????????!!!!!!! My fan level for this band has gone into the next STRATOSPHERE!!!!!!
Me too! I was transcribing just the licc part to the electric guitar and always thinking "how the f**k can he get that amazing sound!?" and came here expecting an electric guitar but founded HYPE!! I'm gonna transcribe it and gonna make my guitar sound like a violin
@jaysax90 - Hey, Jay. The band is half Dallas guys and half Dallas-turned-Brooklyners. So we're split between the two cities. And the violinist is Zach Brock, a New Yorker. He also plays in Stanley Clarke's quartet with Ronald Bruner, Jr. Truly an inspiring musician.
This group is like a the ideal Jam Session... Their chemistry and musicianship is so needed in a world full of processed beats and computerized melodies. Thank You Snarky Puppy... Don't change a thing.
This is just one of the BEST things I've heard in the last 25 years! Gooosh, I've got goose bumps, it's raining outside and I feel like it's a gorgeous sunny day!
Baggandy, I sure did! I've listened to the CD and watched the DVD dozens of times already... For the first week or two I had it, I literally had all the tunes playing in my head night and day, 24/7... Great stuff...
These cats are awesome! I love the power and connection that music makes in a universal way touching and influencing everyone in it's own way. All the video's i seen of them are so tight crispy clean what a sound... What a sound.....
New favorite artist/group. Amazing musicianship (something 99% of all artists in all genres are missing these days). If you can't appreciate this you don't like music. You must like crap.
All of you guys in my opinion represent what mainstream music should be. The music industry is garbage to ignore this amount of talent... They're so damn worried about what sell than what's real... OMGoodness!
this is beyond greatnesss...Snarky Puppy is already my musical influence..and I've only been listening to them for a week... the music is tooo fresshh..
i just discovered this through Facebook and I have already forwarded the link to all my musician friends! I AM FLOORED! Can music like this still be produced in 2010??? It may just reconciliate me with these times... This is musicianship at the highest level but not just for the sake of more notes to the ounce, cos' it comes with one of the most severe grooves I have heard in a long time! And what's great too is that it is filthy rich!!!! How many guys are playing in there? I can't even count!
So sometime after we got back from our tour of Russia we opened for Snarky Puppy and got our "ASSES BUSTED". I dont say that about many bands, so check them out. Truely funky. We have been stepping our game up ever sense.
I already heard this song 5 times todays... and still each time I listen to it I realize it's more beautiful and more touching than the last time I heard.
as a musician... its the lil things that make Snarky Puppy soo underrated and soo undefined. they are so talented and very musical. soo many styles put together and this what u get. pure amazement they totally took the thought of musicianship to another level... Great post baggandy!
I would pay a great deal of money for a DVD / CD FULL of music like this!! These guys are absolutely AMAZING, combining (as nextangel said) a number of Jazz styles into one incredible, brilliantly-mixed, funky Sound... Keep the "main stream" Jazz artists; give us more of THIS!! Fabulous... (and I, too, am a keyboard player and long-time Jazz/Funk lover)...
Groovy, innovating, very well instrumentated. And the disassembled rhythmics really give me the picture of a slow demon! Spectacular!!! Drums + percussion kit is the real deal
Wow. At first I was like wth!!? Then I was whoa okay. now I'm like heeeeeck yasss lol. I'm goin through more emotions than when I was 13 lol. This is what real music does :) kudos guys
What a Journey!!!! Thank You to who shared video. Thank You to these great, talented and skilled musicians!!!! At 5:11 of the song... the beginning of the breakdown...WHOA!!!!!!!!
Came for "the lick" (4:46), stayed for the Snark.
+Ryan Daniels The lick brought me here too...
+Ryan Daniels Doo do dodo doo do do.
+Ryan Daniels holy fuck same here. My bass teacher and I were talking about soloing and he showed me this.
+Ryan Daniels oh wait I didn't realize the lick was like a wel known thing
Ryan Daniels the lick?
The violinist is Zach Brock.
Nobody is talking about that guitar solo, oh man... Mark Killed it so bad
Meh... I think Bob killed it in I am not the one tho
guitar solo? (I'm not neglecting it btw) what about the violin solo?
That's cause I'm still flipping out about the band dropping the key a whole tone into that crazy violin solo! :-)
Out of all the tracks in Tell Your Friends, I think Slow Demon has the best 'big moment.' The syncopated drums, the electric violin, the meaty electric keyboards; they all culminate in the excellent guitar solo at the end. Glad to listen

Snarky Puppy has just been named to my Top 3 list!!!!
The shift from the violin to the organ just blew my mind!
STOP THE PRESSES!!!!! You mean to tell me that what was sounding like a electric guitar, was a STINKIN' VIOLIN???????????!!!!!!!
My fan level for this band has gone into the next STRATOSPHERE!!!!!!
That blew my freaking mind!!!! The violin solo was insane!
I believe it was Todd Rundgren who said something like; if you're good enough, you can make any instrument sound like anything.
Me too! I was transcribing just the licc part to the electric guitar and always thinking "how the f**k can he get that amazing sound!?" and came here expecting an electric guitar but founded HYPE!!

ridiculous RIDICULOUS talent! I rarely pass up an opportunity to hear them live! They are musical paradise!!
that guitar solo... SHIEEEEEEET.
So cool when you see how much fun they are having...
This group is like a the ideal Jam Session... Their chemistry and musicianship is so needed in a world full of processed beats and computerized melodies. Thank You Snarky Puppy... Don't change a thing.
@Muzzy71991 - It's a regular violin with a pickup running through a Fender guitar amp and an effects processor.
Wow. And a perfect ending, because humour also belongs in music .
This is the best song 🎧 by snarky puppy
The violinist chose violence and I’m here for it !!!
There are NO WORDS for this. Not a one that give this justice!
I'm SO GLAD they're coming to Memphis on Feb 17th!! YES!!!!!!!
Everyone talkin about that violin, which is amazing....but that guitar solo has the taste of the gods.
This is just one of the BEST things I've heard in the last 25 years! Gooosh, I've got goose bumps, it's raining outside and I feel like it's a gorgeous sunny day!
One of my favorite guitar solos. To me it's always sounded like 2 people having a heated argument, switching off every few bars
This song is one of the greatest pieces of music i stumbled upon in my entire life.
you guys make me happy
I would love to come to a live recording of this group. One of the best bands I have ever heard in all my life.
@goron29 - the first three chords of the outro are similar to Stevie's "As", which are similar to about 50 pieces by J.S. Bach. Good call!
Pure geniusness packed in 8 min.
Those Rhodes chords take my soul to heaven!
Met the bassist at Charlie Wrights, London one day. He gave me the CD and I was totally blown away. Amazing stuff.
cant get enough of Snarky Puppy!
Baggandy, I sure did! I've listened to the CD and watched the DVD dozens of times already... For the first week or two I had it, I literally had all the tunes playing in my head night and day, 24/7... Great stuff...
How does this not have a million views yet?!!!
these guys are blowing my mind with every video i see of them... Some of the best musicianship I have ever seen.
One of the best snarky puppy songs ever
Nice to see real talent recording together.
These cats are awesome! I love the power and connection that music makes in a universal way touching and influencing everyone in it's own way. All the video's i seen of them are so tight crispy clean what a sound... What a sound.....
every week or so i have to come back and rewatch it and all more deeply in love with it
Let's see: Drums, Bass, 2 guitars,3 keyboardists, a violinist, a percussionist, 2 tenor saxes, and 2 trumpets. Wow this band is HUGE! Great tune!
Potentially the most badass piece of music of all time.
can't get enough of these guys
New favorite artist/group. Amazing musicianship (something 99% of all artists in all genres are missing these days). If you can't appreciate this you don't like music. You must like crap.
I have been studying violin for almost a decade and this Bro do things that i can't explain
Wow
i wish all musicians were like these guys. an inspiration to whomever starts out playing any instrument ever
All of you guys in my opinion represent what mainstream music should be. The music industry is garbage to ignore this amount of talent... They're so damn worried about what sell than what's real... OMGoodness!
I'm in SHOCK right now!! Maybe I'll find words to express this feeling after I listen to everything. WOW.
this is beyond greatnesss...Snarky Puppy is already my musical influence..and I've only been listening to them for a week... the music is tooo fresshh..
wow!!!..it doesn't get more authentic than this!..whew..these cats are killin!..REAL MUSIC INDEED!!!
do you know how happy i get while watching them? goodness! this DVD is a real treat! AWESOME!!!!!!
Saw the band last night at the Rex in Toronto........blown away. That's all I can say.
Please come back.
Still one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. In my all time top 5 for sure.
I'm pretty sure what he did to that violin is illegal.
Oh man if that was wrong I don't wanna be right
Another cool example of deadly assault with a bowed violin is Lili Haydn doing maggot brain. Absolutely amazing version and she rips!
I'm an instant fan!! TRUE BAND= SNARKY PUPPY
This song climbs the stairs to perfection
i just discovered this through Facebook and I have already forwarded the link to all my musician friends! I AM FLOORED! Can music like this still be produced in 2010??? The best in the business! Go, Snarky Puppy, GO!
So sometime after we got back from our tour of Russia we opened for Snarky Puppy and got our "ASSES BUSTED". I dont say that about many bands, so check them out. Truely funky. We have been stepping our game up ever sense.
that guitar solo is face-melting
I already heard this song 5 times todays... and still each time I listen to it I realize it's more beautiful and more touching than the last time I heard.
this video should have 12 million views
You won my pips welcome too my top band list right up there with earth wind and fire, So shall be called 'Hot Ice' ... congrats!!
This is a great example of why Snarky will never be the same without Shaun Martin. What an incredible loss for all of us.
Amazing groove and vibe.
Mark Lettieri always being amazing.
one of my favourite pieces of music of all time. They just have this shit down.
Saw these guys in Athens, Ga a few years ago. A humble bunch of great musicians. Love the dynamics in this live recording.
as a musician... its the lil things that make Snarky Puppy soo underrated and soo undefined. they are so talented and very musical. soo many styles put together and this what u get. pure amazement they totally took the thought of musicianship to another level... Great post baggandy!
ahhhh I love this...woooohooo keep grooving!
I just love the outro vamp, where they go to the diminished chord on the 8 bar and Mr. Lettieri plays his hands off! :-)
Simply some of the coolest stuff I've ever heard.
I would pay a great deal of money for a DVD / CD FULL of music like this!! That's the coolest room I've ever seen
WOW
God Damn, The more I hear of these guys the more I fall in love!
Just saw these guys live at Blackwater Musical Festival and they were amazing.
if i was in this room for these performances, i don't think there is any way i could stay in my seat
this is absolutely incredible.
This song had me shivering, holding my breath, crying from happiness. I'm astounded.
Groovy, innovating, very well instrumentated. And the disassembled rhythmics really give me the picture of a slow demon! Spectacular!!! Drums + percussion kit is the real deal
Brilliant, amazing, Jazzfunktastic !!
