Great job. You made the stone placement seem so easy. Silhouette Studio allow me to place the stones so easily.
Thank you so much!!! And thanks for watching.
@@MakingwithMarilyn You're welcome
Good morning, Marilyn,
You explained everything so well! I think I can do it now after watching this video. Thanks for sharing the details of the process.
Donna 🌹
Thank you! I am going to be doing another basic video very soon because I learned another thing that has helped me.
@@MakingwithMarilyn Thank you. I look forward to watching it and learning more.
@@MakingwithMarilyn So, I call myself upgrading from the Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio to the Business Edition so that I can learn to create rhinestone templates. It still says Basic Edition. What now???
Good morning, Marilyn,
I meant to tell you that I contacted Silhouette America support. They emailed me Monday morning and have me the instructions for letting the software know to upgrade to Business Edition. Click, Click, and it worked perfectly.
Now, I’ve been trying to see if I can create a template. 😊 I will be following your steps here to learn the basics so I can create a name. I tried last night without watching this video, but my stones moved when I released them. I’ll try again when I get up. I haven’t slept all night due to insomnia. Since I can’t sleep, I figured I could be learning to use the software.
Oh yes, I cut most of the I AM BLACK HISTORY template, which I purchased from Craftable Things Etsy shop. The design takes 4 colors, and I have cut 3 of them successfully with some flock sheets from Amazon. The sheets are not large enough to cut the last piece of the design. I’ll have to cut it on some cardstock. The flock sheets are only 8” x 12”.
Maybe I’ll try to cut it in two pieces like you did in your design here. I had thought about trying it, but thought it might not work. But since I see that you did it, maybe I can achieve success also. The last piece is all all large characters that say I Am Black History. I’ll be putting it in on a black T-shirt. I had to order more black rhinestones because this last portion will take all black rhinestones for the words that are large and will fill an entire sheet if I had one. I’ll just place two of the ones that I have. The sheets were for me to practice on. I’ll be ordering a roll of regular flock soon.
Thank you for being there to help those of us who are learning this beautiful skill.
You were so kind to offer to press the stones to the shirts for them.
Again, thank you, Marilyn.
Take care and have a lovely day. 💎 ♦️ 💎
@@nahnisjourney1406 I have been meaning to do another rhinestone template design video b/c so many people have the shifting stones issue. Typically it doesn't happen to me when I release them but when I try to convert to a path and haven't taken a couple of steps first. I will do a video this weekend.
I really enjoy the way you teach - i've watched many videos and found that your instruction method is a lot easier to digest. thank you so much for sharing...
Thank you so very much Eclectic Heiress!!! You have absolutely made my day better!
You are a master at explaining and getting straight to the point. Thank you so much. You gained a new subscriber here!!!!
Thank you so much!!! I appreciate it.
I’m still rocking my pretty shirt 👚 yay!!! I love it and your very awesome 🤩
Thanks 755!!! I love that you still like it!!!
Thank you Marilyn! I have been searching for an easy to follow video on how to use my Cricut to make rhinestone projects. When I found yours I was elated. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Your pacing was great too!
You are so welcome! Let me know if you have any questions as you go.
THAT'S SO NICE OF YOU. I KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO LOVE THE SHIRTS.
Thank you Stacey!!!
Marilyn, I just purchased silhouette studio, basic and business edition today! This is my very first video it seems like such a nice easy lesson. I have not even tried it yet but I will try to follow along with you later. Thank you so much. ❤️
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Start with really easy things first and just learn how to move stones around, etc. Then you will be on to more complex designs before you know it!!! I hope you love this as much as I do!
Oh my word Marilyn!! We are so excited 🤩 thank you for thinking of me 💚
You are so welcome!!! I can't wait for you and Carmen to see them!!!
I love this Marilyn! You did a really great job of clearly explaining this process. I haven't tried rhinestones yet and it will probably be a while.
Have you considered doing a double-cut or using more pressure to help get those circle cut out?
I do double cut and have tried many pressure settings. It just seems that the bade doesn't quite meet up right after going around the circle. I will keep trying, though, until I find the right settings for my machine:) Thank yo so much for watching!!!
Hi Marilyn
Love the superwoman symbol. I’ve been working on creating that template. Thank you for showing that it’s easy. Loving ❤️ it
Marilyn
I am happy to email it to you as an SVG file if you want to check its size to see if it works for you. What size of rhinestones do you plan to use?
@@MakingwithMarilyn
Hi Marilyn yes please thank you so much I have ss10
Excellent detailed utorial. Very easy to follow
Thank you so much Sharon! I really appreciate it.
🎉🎉🎉 WoW that worked PERFECTLY! Thank you lady. I have the cameo cutter but I prefer using my cricut! Subscribed
Thanks so much!!! I appreciate it.
Hi, thank you for such clear instructions. Now I can start making rhinestone templates. Kudos to you ma'am.
You are very welcome!!! Good luck on your templates!!!
@@MakingwithMarilyn thank you..
Hey Making with Marylin 😍😍😍. Love 755
Hello Big Boi Prints!!!
Good video thanks looks good ❤
Thank you Jessie!
Then I would just cut it on the cricket strong grip transfer tape. It will keep your cricket mat clean and all you have to do is tear away the transfer tape and throw it away.Amazing video now I want to buy a silhouette LOL
Yes, I cut mine on a cricut as I do not have a silhouette. I just have silhouette software. Some people cut directly on the mat with the flock backing. Some take the backing off and cut directly on the mat. I don't have perfect luck with cutting my flock so I tend to try different methods.
Thanks Marilyn, I love your videos - your voice is so engaging. I have exactly the same issues as you, I hate taking out the dots of the flock material and the horrible sticky feeling on my hands. Matt from TRW makes it look so easy. I look forward to your next video.
I know, right? He does make it look so easy! My cricut really cuts through all but that little tiny area very well, but I wish the circle would start and end perfectly so those little dots would stay put:) Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
You're absolutely amazing and thanks for dropping them Jewels 💎 ❤ 💕 💗 ♥ 💜 💎
Thank you Four Corners!!! I appreciate it!
Well done. I like how you explain your tutorials

You’re very welcome!!!
Great tutorial!
Thank you so much Naomi!
Thank you. Watching this I think I might actually now have the courage to make my first template. Can you share your cutting setting?
Barbara, I am happy to share. Which flock are you using? I have to use different settings for different flock brands.
@@MakingwithMarilyn Thank you for responding. I have a starter kit with Rock It Flock material.
@@bobbifarris4216 that's funny because I was just experimenting with that exact template material last night using a Cricut Maker! I tried the light card stock setting first because that's what the Baby Booty uses. My machine didn't cut through. Then I used medium card stock and it worked beautifully!!! I left the paper backing on the flock while it was cutting. When you try your cuts, just do 2 or 3 small circles first because machines/blades will differ a bit. Good luck and I hope all goes well!
Great job .
Thanks so much!!!
Soo Dope Love It!
Thanks so much!!!
Is this flock vinyl? and I am using my silhouette. SS10, and the holes are a little big. My rhinestones are ss10 3mm...
Great tutorial!!! thank you for doing this!!!!
Thank you very much! The flock is not vinyl. It is a traditional rhinestone flock that I bought off of Amazon. I have also purchased the pink rhinestone flock from Heat Transfer Warehouse and I like it a little better. And, I have used glitter cardstock for templated as well (and I have a video on this process). The holes do end up being a bit larger than the stones, but if you want them smaller, you can slightly decrease the size of your entire design and they will decrease in size. I have found the size that Silhouette uses are pretty good though. I have seen templates that make the holes even larger and I do not care for that.
Hello,
What are your exact settings for cutting your flock with and without the backing?
I have tried many settings over the last couple of months, but the one that worked best for me is 340 pressure, single cut.
I hope that you've got your cut settings right for Cricut maker and Rhinestones. I've been having great success for flock with 350 pressure 2 passes.
It took me a good while, but I finally found the sweet spot for my Maker. It has done really well with 340 pressure and a single pass. Thank you for sharing yours in case someone reading the comments needs some suggestions.
Could you please share what the settings are that you created to cut the flock with and without the backing?
I use a pressure of 340 and a single cut to cut flock without the backing. I typically use rock it flock and the setting works wonderfully on my machine. Machines are different and blades are different, so try cutting a handful of small circles using the setting before you go for a whole template. I have not yet been successful at cutting with the backing on so would not want to steer you wrong on that.
@@MakingwithMarilyn Thank you :)
Thanks for sharing this. I'm a cricut maker user but planning to buy silhouette business edition software. Is that all I need to achieve this tutorial. No need of getting silhouette basic software first then upgrade to business edition I need to get it right pls. Thanks I await your response.
I believe I went straight to the Business Edition on my current computer, but to be safe, you could download the free Basic Edition first and then upgrade. Here is a link to download the free version. www.silhouetteamerica.com/software/ss/download
❤️❤️
Thanks Uni!!!
Hello thank you for helping me, but one quick question. My rhinestone size isn’t ss10 i don’t know how to change it😢
If you are in Silhouette's rhinestone panel, you can select SS6, SS10, SS16 or SS20. If you select the SS10, your hole size is .130. Are you also cutting with a Silhouette or a different cutter.
@@MakingwithMarilyn thank you so much
Can you use silhouette business edition as a standalone or do u need to buy the cutter machine
You can use it as a stand alone software. I do not use a silhouette machine but use the business edition to make the templates b/c that edition will not only make rhinestone templates, but it will let you save them as svg files to use in a cricut (or other cutter). Do you current have a cutting machine?
Can you tell me how you made the Superman template.
I took a diamond shape, made it a little wider, and cut the top off. Then I sliced the center out of it. After that, I added an S in the middle and welded it to the outside. After that, I used the rhinestone feature is Silhouette Business Edition to make the rhinestone template. What software do you use and do you already make rhinestone templates?
I want purchase bt I can't make singin in swing design website how to purchase
How did you make the the S design with that shape?
I made the two shapes separately and then put them together. Once I put them together, I had to delete all the overlapping holes. Hopefully that made sense:)
I'm playing with these fonts figuring out the spacing with the rhinestones, and i notice that no all fonts are rhinestone friendly. some fonts make the stones go everywhere when i space it out according to the size like 0.039. As you space higher with some fonts, I get less dots..
Yes, not all fonts work really well for rhinestones, but playing around with spacing is a good way to get a good product. I typically decrease the spacing so that the stones get closer together. Thanks for letting me know how it is going for you!!!
@@MakingwithMarilyn I think it might be easier to download fonts that are already rhinestone capable. But we would still need silhouette to make the template I think.
@@HECTORJABUNDISJR yes, or you could purchase some rhinestone alphabets. They aren’t true fonts but are cut files of the letters in the alphabet. The problem is you can’t really resize them or your hole size will be off.
@@MakingwithMarilyn Thanks for the tip Ms. Marylin.
@@MakingwithMarilyn if you resize how can you change all the circles to the ss10 size
Can I do rhinestone on designer plus addition
I believe that you can, but you cannot save them as SVG files. If you cut with a Silhouette machine, that won't matter and you won't need them as SVG files. I am getting ready to post a video today showing detailed step by step instructions on how to make a rhinestone template in Silhouette.
What software do I use to do that to make templates
I have used Silhouette Business Edition and Sure Cuts a Lot. I prefer Silhouette. What machine do you cut with?
what flock are you using?
It’s some I ordered from Amazon. Trying the pink flock next.
Do you know the cut settings for Cameo 4? Most people design in Silhouette but cut in Cricuit…
That's what I do as well. I design in Silhouette and cut on a Cricut. If you want to watch one of my Bling Along live UA-cam events, you could ask in the chat. I know there are people in the chat which cut templates with the Cameo 4. Or you could join my Facebook group and pose the question. If a lady named Barb doesn't respond, I can prompt her. She is great with the technology and she cuts her templates with a Cameo (I think it is the 4). facebook.com/groups/makingwithmarilyn
@@MakingwithMarilyn I sent the join request
@@PastorsSecretary I just approved one, so ask away:) It will prompt me to approve it, so I will check throughout the evening for it. Thanks.
Nice Marilyn! Why did you cut it using the Cricut?
Thanks
Tracey
I don't own a Silhouette. I used to, but I gave it to my sister about a year after I got my Cricut Maker. The Silhouette actually has a rhinestone flock cut setting, which is really nice:)
@@MakingwithMarilyn I see. I have a Silhouette. I thought there were issues cutting with it. Thanks!
Hello what kind of template material do you use?
The flock I used in this video came from Amazon but it is currently unavailable. The other flock I have used is Rock-It Rhinestone Flock which I got from becreateful.com. They both work very much the same.
How do you make a layered design ?
Are you talking about a rhinestone design with various colors or sizes of rhinestones? If so, I have not designed multi-layered rhinestone designs (yet:).
THIS SHOULD BE GOOD.
Thanks Stacey!

Hey Zelda! Thanks for watching.
Can't creat id
how do i get rhinestone templet?
You can either make them in a software program like Silhouette Business Edition like I showed in the video, or you can purchase them from places like Etsy.
