- What is a Ballroom Dance Experience? Which experiences are memorable? I went to Tri-State DanceSport Championship to ask different dancers and hear their story about different experiences.

What is your most memorable dance experience?!
The competition where I won my first first place, and the completion where I forgot every choreography. (They were one week from each-other, first forgot everything and than won first price). And I like this video :D

I and my partner first time hand in hand on the floor before cha cha. Wonderful moment, great feeling. I want it again and again and again.

of course my 1st latin dancesport competition in last October.it was national championship in my country.my 1st time as a latin dancer, i went into the beginner. all my preparations, routines, costumes were based on what the syllabus says.i did all my teacher said.but what did happen in the competition? everybody else were NOT following their class.all competitors are in novice or above! they had complicated routines, those bling² costumes, while I felt like the most stupid person! with a beginner routine in black white costume with a tie😬 my teacher said that she was sorry for that condition. she was one of the judge too. she couldnt do anything about it. it was said that the committee DID NOT tell the judges about the real situation the real criteria. i also wondered. lots of judges at that time even didnt give a chance for me! all the 5 latin dances I got nothing😂 lol. i think here, that a competition regardless the category , is based on WHAT the committe want or say so to the judges.
some other competitors thought that that was wrong. and they felt sorry for me too.because i did all the syllabus said about beginner class . i was angry but nothing i could do. except accepting that as a real experience.
the hurt still lives until now.lol
but in this year i will be joining another national championship with a different partner but she has been doin latin long before I do.then I may join the pre amateur
i dont care about winning but I love being able to be good in dancing. because I think some chances dont come twice. especially I am too old to dance actually lols (37 y.o)
p.s. my teacher was a latin dancer athlete and once joined SEA games few years ago and her daughter & partner were a national champion in latin and once joined the Blackpool but I dont know their rank 😀
Wow. Quite a first experience you've had. But on the bright side, you've learned a ton about national competitions!

I took part in only one competition unfortunately, in the beginner category. My partner and I were the only couple registered for the adult comp so we had to wait until 3 days before to be sure we would be able to dance. Eventually the organizers allowed us to compete against 2 Senior couples (also beginners) from my club who were also alone! So the three of us danced against each other with the exact same beginner choreography 😂

I was late for my first dance lesson because I had a chess tournament. But I won the game)))
