      So the big question. Are you going to clip in on the vitus sentier? I feel clipping in on the hardtail gives a great benefit as your feet can't be bounced off the pedals on rough descents. Also you have the ability to lift the bike over stuff and cheat at bunny hops. Personally I probably wouldn't clip in on a commute bike. But then again I wouldn't commute on a bike these days due to bad experience after lockdown with both cars and pedestrians. I've avoided roads as much as possible over the last 2 years.

      Hard to say how long these ones will last, but hopefully a decent amount of time. Have you tried them out yet?

    I want to better understand this. Isn't there less freedom of movement when you're clipped on like that? What benefit is there to getting attached to your bike? How's walking with the cleat/hook underneath?

    • @DanEscapes
      @DanEscapes  Рік тому +4

      The benefits are you don’t slip the pedals (definitely a feature that is needed in mountain biking on rough terrain) especially in the wet also being able to pull up on a pedal when going up hill or when sprinting. You can also put down more power but that depends on the type of shoe you have, high performance ones will have a very stiff sole, these adidas ones have a flex to them making it easier to walk in.There’s definitely less freedom but you still have heel movement or float is the technical term used. These use a mountain bike clip in system which means it’s easier to walk in them as traditionally you’d have to hike with your bike in steeper climbs. Road cleats are plastic and hard to walk ok plus if you do walk on them they wear out quickly. Sorry if this doesn’t help and do let me know if you have anymore questions! Thanks for watching!

      @@DanEscapes thanks Dan! Really appreciate it! Got to watch your other video, too! I suppose for a casual cyclist, having this won't make much sense haha, but yeah it does make sense.

    Compatible with crankbrothers?

    • @DanEscapes
      @DanEscapes  Рік тому

      Yeah they should be compatible. The crank brothers cleat system has the same bolts as the shimano’s spd cleats.

      Hey, I’m a size 7 (41) feet have a wide foot and went a half size up. They fit snug at first but feel good after breaking in. Hope that helps!
