Great job guys!!! This is very helpful as I am a visual person... I'll have to get into my 86 928 to see,,, but,,, I would suggest leaving the bolts that hold the eccentrics and ball joint and SEPARATE the ball joint from the carrier/spindal... This way you DONT have to pay for an alignment afterwards....? Money money money,,, ya know... Imma keep watching. It COULD be that with the ball joint hanging out there it could LIMIT the room that you have to manuver the shock and strut,,, but I don't know that yet. What do you think?
Nice video , I did the operation to day, was stuck , found your video, and fixed it. I would not been finished today without your video.👍👍👍👍👍🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is how I do it. You should invest in a 3000 lb / 1500 kg trolley jack. For the front of the 928, I use a trolley jack on the rear jack point, the whole side of the car can be lifted off the ground, then put the jack stand under the front jack point. Repeat on the other side of the car and then both front wheels are off the ground. I then pack timber boards under the front tires so if the car does fall off the stands it wont fall far. For the rear wheels, roll the trolley jack in from the back and put the jack under the suspension cross-member between the differential and the gearbox - MAKE SURE YOU GET THIS RIGHT, DONT JACK THE DIFF OR THE GEAR BOX!!!. This is an approved jack point in the repair manual. Jack up the rear until both rear tires are off the ground and put jack stands under each rear lift point. Do the rear lift slowly and do not lift too high as when the rear wheels leave the ground you lose all braking - if you have help I suggest someone put their foot on the brake so the front tires can grip the timber boards to prevent the risk of the car rolling. Recheck the front stands to make sure they have not moved. Always best after to try rocking the car a little, if the set up is unstable it's better for it to fall while the tires are still on it and no person lying under it. Have fun.
Well done guys. I enjoyed watching the video. Gave me some great tips for when I start this project myself. Mine is an 82 so iI doesn't have the adjustable shocks, but my goal is to replace them with ones that do. I really want to bring that front down a little. if you have any suggestions on where to source some adjustable shocks, would love to hear your thoughts. Anyway, thanks again for making the video. Cheers.
Thanks I am recording the install night ( May 25 , 2016 ) unfortunately I was not there to catch the reassembly of the shock and spring But its pretty obvious Just a reverse of taking it apart

Great tips guys, I'm starting on mine tonight!
Thanks for this. What a PITA. If you are still around, how did you get the car up to get the jack stands under the jacking points?
